I was just wondering what sort of interface people prefer in adventure games.

It's only because I've noticed a few games coming up lately with the Curse of MI-type interface, which I don't particularly like too much.

Is that the way of the AGS future?

I personally prefer the good old Lucasfilm verb parser at the bottom of the screen, although I don't mind Sierra's icon based interface.

What do you guys think?

Awesome!   ;D

I've loved it from the word go. I reckon the graphics are great too, I think simplicity and neatness are the key to good looking graphics, even if you don't consider yourself a great artist.

I have similar drawing style to yours (I don't know if you've had a look at Nick it & Run, but if you do you'll probably understand what I mean).

The music and fonts also help recreate that sort of wacky atmosphere of the best adventure games.

Boy, I'm looking forward to the end product...

P.S. Just a small thing with the game is that I personally don't like that Curse of MI-type interface, but that's just personal preference...  ;)

Mick is a parody of Rick.

...and I think the reason it takes forever to download is because of the server. It's very slow. I also have cable internet and it takes me awhile to dl from my own website if I try to... Sorry.

I just released my MAGS June entry:

;D CASABLANCA, THE DAY AFTER  ;D

The game is based on Warner Bros 1942 classic. You play Mick. It's the day after Ilsa and Lazslo managed to escape Casablanca. You know you did the right thing by letting them go. However, you are not very happy about it. To top things off, Sam won't stop playing that stupid "As time goes by" song. Your goal in this game is to use ANY means to stop him doing so. This game is re-playable, as there are at least four different combined paths leading to its completion.

The game features:

- Stunning noir hi-colour graphics!
- Two puzzles combining up to... FOUR  :o :o :o paths to complete the tragedy--- er... the game!!!
- Your favourite Nick it & Run characters!
- Some lame jokes!
- Action scenes!
- Unnecessary and potentially offensive violence!
- A classic soundtrack!
- The missing link between Casablanca and Nick it & Run!!!
- and more...

A walkthru' is included in the readme file.

To make things fair I'll stick with a single movie too. I take Casablanca.

Spoiler
you get the burger box once you give hammad back his cupholder.

A cupholder signed by Asif is a collector's item. You probably have to give ming another collector's item in return. Can you think of how to turn that BB CD into a collector's item?

Thanks Tim for all your feedback, you're so far my best beta-tester by a long shot. I'll get around to fix all those bugs shortly (as soon as a complete my MAGS game for June).

The story of the screw is simple, although slightly embarrasing. As I stated when I first released the game, this is my first AGS effort. Therefore, I was a bit unsure about the use of "flags" (that is, stuff like if player has done this then he can do that, otherwise he can't). Since I didn't know much about global variables -which I can now use- having or not having certain inventory items became one of my main ways of setting flags. Thus, the screw -which you got once you used the smoke machine ("oh, look, the smoke machine broke! Here, a screw fell off...")- was just a flag for the game to know that you were not to use the smoke machine again (if player has inventory item "screw" then display message "the machine is broken"). That's all.

By the way, I'm really glad you liked it.

I had also gone for the "noir" graphics...

hotshot is right

the easiest way to do it is to use the interaction menu associated with every hotspot or object on screen.

for example

select a hotspot
click on "interaction"
select "conditional - if inventory object was used"
then add below the conditional clause what you want to happen, for example "lose inventory item"
