No, you've got it all.

I haven't been able to come up with a satisfactory solution for myself, but what about setting up two timers?

Timer 1 tells the computer when your npc has to come into the screen.

Timer 2 one is set "on" as soon as the npc starts walking and lasts for as long as it takes him to get to the desired spot (even a bit longer, so the npc seems to pause before the spot).

Then you can run your animation, do whatever, and make him walk back out. Remember to set these timers off if required.

I also find it a bit dificult to climb up to the nest (the top GUI comes up), maybe you can bring down the top edge of the screen a little.

I think I found a bug.

When I use the big caveman club with Peter, I get the following message:

"Here, have a coconut"

then Peter gives me a stick.

BTW, I can't access the internal game files because AGS won't let me.

You were right, there was a bug. I fixed it up, it is now fixed also on my website.

Still, as you guessed, you could finish the game just by not picking up the metal bar.
;D

Metal bar bug fixed.

I've uploaded the zip file again.

Of course, you could finish the game even with the bug by practising a bit of self control and not picking up the metal bar just like that...

You're not too far off the mark.

Spoiler
have you tried playing around with the fallen cupboard?

Ispace,

Sorry, but I couldn't pick up the metal pole until I worked out the puzzle properly (Reggie ends up giving it to you, there shouldn't be such command as "pick up metal bar"). Also, it came up as a metal pole on my inventory. I don't know what's exactly wrong, but it doesn't seem like a bug to me. Could you specify a bit more?

P.S. One thing I have found is that sometimes when the game loads, it "forgets" about stuff, and then when you load it again it works fine. Has anyone had that problem? Would you mind checking for me if re-starting the game again you get the same problem?

Thanks for telling me about the bug, I'll try and get it fixed over the wkd, because you do need the metal bar to finish the game.

Jannar, how does that ftp thing work? did you upload my game somewhere :)?

Ispace,

BTW thanks a lot for the bug. I'll try & fix it over the wkd and I'll have it posted by monday if I can. You DO need the metal bar, but it only comes in handy at the end of the game, you probably still have a fair way to go  ;D

Ispace,

same story. You're right,

Spoiler
What did Obby say when you picked up her lucky kangaroo? "DO NOT LEAVE IT LAYING AROUND!!!", remember? - maybe she means you shouldn't move it around the room too much.

Ida,

read the spoiler below, I'm not giving you the full answer because it's more fun to figure it out yourself. But I'll give you a hint:

Spoiler
every fishing rod needs a hook, doesn't it? Obby's hairpin is NOT the hook, but I'll be essential in finding it.

I got myself a new freewebs site, so maybe I get a bit more bandwith.

Unfortunately, I can't upload files > 750kb until seven days from the moment I get my account, so people wanting to get NIAR will have to keep putting up with geoshitties. :P

Sorry.
#636
Thanks all.

I think I'm gonna try and move my website to lycos tripod (or whatever is calles) as Tim and Woodz suggested. THe bandwith you get at geocities is pretty crap.

I'll keep you posted.
#637
And what do you think?
#638
Fair enough.

I just accessed the page. You might be able to now.
#639
Yep, apparently if five people see my website (about 3.5Mb all up)  within an hour, the whole thing get shut down for a little while, that's the bloody bandwith limit.

People are able to dl it, though, because the AGS paga says it's been downloaded five times.

I don't really mind if my page is not hotlinked, because then people go and see it  ;) but I wouldn't mind a more decent bandwith. Did you say tripod lycos or whatever offers you better bandwith?

I'll see what I can do. Anyway, thanks for the tips.

I just released NIAR, my first AGS effort. It's a medium-length game which originally was intended to be the first chapter of a much larger project.

You can download it now at my website, or alternatively at the AGS site (where it'll be up shortly).

Featuring:

- Some stunning 640x400 resolution hi colour graphics.
- Some not-so-stunning 640x400 resolution hi colour graphics.
- 30 rooms.
- Over 15 characters with a say in the game.
- About 40 inventory items.
- Intro scenes, cutscenes and end scenes.
- Lots of other scenes.
- A number of unknown bugs*

(*I played it through a couple of times from intro to end-scenes and there was nothing wrong with it, but someone is bound come across a bug sometime in the future - please, let me know.)

Feedback on any aspect of the game (puzzles, more than anything) will be thoroughly appreciated.

P.S. By the way, with regard to the graphics... YES, I DO INSPIRE MYSELF ON EXISTING ONES (no lollies for anyone that discovers the park scene at the beginning is very similar to a Willy Beamish one - I don't call it plagiarism, because I'm not trying to get any profit out of the game, it's just a bit of fun  ;D).

Enjoy!  8)
