Guys, don't worry about how many parts there are.
I'm not even sure myself (at least for Apprentice 2).

For your information, my brother and I might be doing minor roles for characters (but no more than two total). I appreciate the compliment, but we're really not that good. Sorry, Gregor, it's the truth.

Anyways, so it's up to you guys to send in your samples...

Thanks for the positive response, guys! Although it would be great if everyone who volunteers can have their
voice talents used in the game, we have a limited number of characters...
As a result, we will be imposing several criteria on would-be voice actors.

1. You must have and use your own microphone. It's just not feasible for us (or you) to have you fly over to our place
to do the recording.

2. You must send a sample wave of your voice to me (ifs104@NOSPAMpsu.edu). The sample must be small enough
(try to keep it under 1 meg, for both our sakes). Also, try holding the mike above your mouth when you talk,
eliminating most hissing noises. Please use your normal conversation voice (or if you're really talented, you may do an
accent you can consistently talk with). I would prefer it if any non-American accents were genuine.

Here is the script for your audition wave files: (Don't say the words within the parathesis. They are only there to set the mood.)

(cheerful, curious) Hallo, where did everybody go?
(sinister) I thought you might like some help with your sales pitch, sir.
(angry) I'll get blood all over your driveway!
(sad, pensive) There is no glory on the battlefield for me.
With all due respect, sir, I think you watched too many Tarzan movies as an impressionable child.

Thanks!

Actually, Jason, we are considering putting voice in Apprentice 2 and possibly making a voice pack for the original.

I'd be honored if anyone would like to volunteer their voice-acting talents....

the lips.....the lips....

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Seriously, I think they will look better once we give him a dark line for a mouth (the upper lip is the one that bugs y'all, right?). We'll try some different things and post another version in this thread soon.

AGS Games in Production / Apprentice 2!

Hi guys,

I thought I'd just let everyone know that we have officially started development on the second installment (of a 3 or 4 part series) of Apprentice.
(projected release date: Christmas 2003, optimistically)

You can check out more information and concept art on our website.
http://www.sonic.net/~schlae/herculeaneffort

We will be working on both The Find and Apprentice Chapter 2 simultaneously (on different computers, etc.), so no worries.

Yvonne: was that last post your nephew again?
(he seems to always end his posts abruptly, either breaking off or ending with "...")

Dearest Mod. Andail,

Thank you for the offer of the sticky-thread, but I must decline your generous invitation. The tutorials are kept on the Herculean Effort Productions Forum because they are a service we provide AGS users. Also, it would be time-consuming to "double-post" my advice on both forums.

This being said, it looks like this thread belongs in the tutorial links section.

However, this thread is NOT advertising, as it is neither paid for nor produced by an identifiable sponsor.

Sincerely,

Ian

Hey guys,

Sorry about that. Didn't see that there was a new ezine up. Good stuff!

This is good, no?

Hi Vel,

Yea, I know the new ezine has been released. I was talking about maybe for the next issue of it. (If there is going to be a next issue?)

Thanks

Glad you liked the tutorial.
The main reason it took me so long to make is because I've never really made a "realistic" background before. (As you may have noticed in the backgrounds in Apprentice)
I also tend to work rather slowly, and I didn't do this background in one sitting.

Pessi: When I use the dodge and burn tools, I always set them to a low opacity so its effects aren't too drastic. But you're probably right. Using a medium opacity darker shade of the color will probably give you better results.

Hints & Tips / Re:Apprentice help needed
Tue 05/08/2003 08:33:48
I'm sorry to hear you're having such a hard time. I designed the puzzle to be very difficult, so you won't stumble on it when you're beating the game for the first time (since it is a several step deal, it might confuse some of the other puzzles).

As for it being a hoax, I'm sure Necro can vouch for its authenticity. (How else is the update going to take up 400 more K than the original? Certainly not with bug fixes!)

Since the contest is over, I can give you a small hint to get you started on the puzzle. If you want more help after that, please post on the Herculean Effort Productions forum.

Ok, here it is:
Spoiler
maybe there's something else written on the scroll (other than the cheese recipe). Try holding it up to the light.

Hope this helps.

Hey guys,

Just wanted to say I thoroughly enjoyed the latest AGS ezine (especially the FOY pics) and I have a quick question.
Maybe it's presumptious of me, but I was wondering if the next ezine could have a review of Apprentice...

Completed Game Announcements / Re:Apprentice!

Ok, finally I have my own account on these forums. Curse my laziness. (I'm Ian the artist, been using Geoffkhan's account on and off, so half of those posts are mine.)

Anyways, the Find is not really a detective game. It's part futuristic, part modern, and part ancient. We didn't really tie anything down to a time period. I know it will sound like we're trying to combine too much, but everything fits into the story.

The main character delivers packages (with probably illegal contents) from buyer to seller, no questions asked.

Then a simple rendezvous job goes all wrong, and he ends up with two bulletholes in his chest, a tracking chip, and a head full of questions.

The more he finds out, the stranger things become and he realizes that he was a small but pivotal piece in a huge puzzle that involves a government agency and alien-worshiping cultists (to name a few).

Hope this clears up any misconceptions about the Find.

EDIT: Hmmm...we should probably start a new thread instead of talking about the Find in the Apprentice thread.
