Anyone here got a copy of Souls Quest and care to upload it somewhere? It was released for last June MAGS competition but since then the game was removed from Mediafire.

Last week I stumbled on this video that made me reconsider the way I treated freeware games up until now and I figured some of you might find it interesting. Those of you who visit TIGSource have probably watched it, for the rest, here it is: http://www.destructoid.com/rev-rant-donate-141041.phtml

I'm not sure if this thread belong in the adventure talk and chat forum, feel free to move it where it belong if that's not the case.

I already knew about the ALT+X function but today I just accidentally discovered the ALT+R function, to record replay, which I would have found terribly useful to know back when Art Of Theft was released.

Don't you think it would be a smart move to write a text file, listing the various hidden functions of AGS, that game makers could then bundle in their games so the people outside this community, who aren't familiar with the hidden functions, could learn and use them?

I don't know if this was posted before, it could have been. In a nutshell it's a webcomic parodying text adventures where the author ask readers for commands suggestions, with brilliant and hilarious consequences.

I know that Sarinee was no longer updating the website since 2006 and a lot of the download links went down over the years, even if the reviews were still there. But on February 9th, the webhost went bankrupt and Home of the Underdogs is no more. :'(

I hope it will be put back online, even if it's only the reviews, but so far there is no indication that it will happen.

What does it means for the RON community?

I stumbled on this today and while I am not a big fan of Infocom I figured some of you might be.

http://waxy.org/2008/04/milliways_infocoms_unreleased_sequel_to_hitchhikers_guide_to_the_galax/

In a nutshell, somebody managed to aquire a complete backup of Infocom's shared network drive from 1989, containing, among many other things, the source code to all released and unreleased Infocom's games, including Milliways: The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, an unreleased sequel to HGttG. Two playable prototypes are available in the article.

Because I know there's some Commodore 64 fans here, and Indiana Jones and Dizzy fans too, behold what would have been the greatest game in the universe had it been released 24 years ago:

Joe Gunn!

The game in a nutshell: explore the Crocodile King's tomb, avoid traps, solve puzzles and steal the riches for fortune and glory!

The latest version, including bug fixes and german translation, can be found on the creator's website, in the Programs section.

For everyone who loved Nifflas' previous games and for everyone who can't run Bioshock on their computer:

I was planning to draw something for Dave Gilbert's fanart contest, but this completly change my plans. :-\

The discussion over the new Sam and Max thread and the various list of horror adventure games I saw here in the last months got me wondering, why not a list of adventure games that are worth being played because they innovated and brought new ideas in the classic adventure game genre.

You knows, games like Quest For Glory for adding RPG elements into adventure games.

Maniac Mansion and its multiple characters, a concept which was pushed to the next level with Day of the Tentacle and Gobliins 2.

Loom with its unique GUI, or Full Throttle with its really blunt coin-verb interface.

Monkey Island 1's insult sword fighting.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade's multiple solutions, non-linearity and for castle Brunwald, which was possibly the best evil guys's lair in an adventure game, I haven't seen a concept like that until the Hitman series.

Adventures in a Galaxy of Fantabulous Wonderment, for adding ressources trading, fighting and subquests.

Did I miss some? (I'm sure I'm only scratching the surface of the list)
