QuoteInfamous Adventures are looking for people to try and break our games!

We've got two games to get bug free. Our remake of Space Quest II is almost done, we're finished graphically, we're finished scripting, we're done with the music and SFX, we've even finished the voice pack! We just need to test it and make sure it doesn't crash or stupid things don't happen. It's a tough job, but somebody has to do it!

And our latest release of our King's Quest III remake is nearly as done as SQ2. In fact, I'd go so far as to say it's more complete and less buggy than our original release back in 2006! We've upgraded the graphics, pulled the game into a newer version of AGS and basically tweaked it so it rocks even harder. But with any changes, errors and problems arise.

To get these games out and released we need help! We need people willing to play these games over and over, try everything possible to break them, and then report to us exactly how they broke it. We went to know everything, game crashes, graphical glitches, even suggestions for improvements.

The only thing we ask is that you actually TEST the game and report the bugs to us. What we need are people who are dedicated, are ready to playtest and are able to make sensible reports. What we don't need are people who just want to play the game early. It's not about getting the game early, it's about getting it early and buggy and telling us what the bugs are so we can squash the crap out of them! And we don't need people to solely nitpick our grammar.

Infamous Adventures is a great group, we have a lot of fun! And we want you to join us and help make our games better!

To apply, send an email to testing.infamous@gmail.com with the subject heading "Play Testing Your Awesome Games" or something similar. Let us know if you have any experience playtesting software (either fan games or commercial), why you would like to playtest for us and your best joke.

Thanks and I hope to see you around IA soon!

Dem combo puzzles, you are the bane of me!

I somewhat expected more references to AGWAK and your other platformers, like seeing monsters and locations from the platformers or a Jump verb, but I'm loving the game so far. If only I could vanquish that evil combo puzzle.

QuoteI've actually had a few ideas for another Cedric game

YESSSSSSSS :D

And I finally finished it, it's good to see you back in the game making business, Bernie. I had a ball playing AGWaK III and I hope we'll see more of your games soon!

Yes, make your own. A bunch of tips I lived by when I bought my computer five years ago and I will live by when Hitman Absolution comes out and I need a new computer ASAP:

Latest hardware tend to cost twice as much as the previous generation hardware just for what, 10 to 15 percent more performance? Never buy latest hardware no matter what, buy the hardware that got its price cut in half because the newest hardware just came out.

Keep an eye on RAM price, it varies as much as petrol, one month it's dirt cheap, the next not so much. Inform yourself how much it is these days, if it's cheap, buy as much as you want, if it isn't, buy just enough and wait for the price to drop in the following months.

Keep your monitor. It's crazy the number of people who buy new monitors when they change their computers. Ya don't need to change your living room set every time you buy a new console or TV. A monitor alone is 400$. If yours is still fine, keep it, that's 400$ more in your pocket.

If you live in a city, visit the small computer shops in your area and ask if they sells refurbished parts, parts that are perfectly fine but they can't sell at full price because the box has been opened or because they've been used once, you might find a few bargains.

Good luck with your new computer.

Stories and backgrounds come and go, but music get stuck in my memory forever.

Day of the Tentacle, Fate Of Atlantis, Lechuck's Revenge, The Curse of Monkey Island, Full Throttle, The Dig, Grim Fandango, Sam And Max, Gobliins 2, Alone In The Dark and Shadow Of The Comet (easily the best Lovecraft and horror soundtracks of all time), Superhero League of Hoboken, Leisure Suit Larry 7, Space Quest III, King's Quest VI, Quest For Glory I, Beneath A Steel Sky

AGS, I'd say, Pleurghburg, Duty And Beyond, Trilby's Notes, Blackwell Unbound, Tiltor, Nelly Cootalot, Quest For Glory II VGA, Gesundheit

I am happy and sad at the same time. Gesundheit will be over soon, but not for PC anymore. Oh well, as long I can bug my friend to lend me his iphone when it will be out.

The game looks awesome, Matt!

I went berserk this year, and I did exactly as you did: less than $10 or bust. I bought,

Anomaly: Warzone Earth
Beat Hazard + DLCs
Big Brain Wolf
Call Of Duty 4
Crazy Machines
Crazy Machines 1.5
Insaniquarium Deluxe
Left 4 Dead
Mafia II + DLCs
A buncha DLCs for Magicka, both for me and a friend
Another game I forgot the name, for the same friend
Mass Effect
Mass Effect 2
Splinter Cell Double Agent
STALKER Clear Sky
The Tiny Bang Story

A friend was nice enough to give me Bit.Trip.Beat so I could get a 15th ticket and unlock another DLC. And on GOG.com I bought Fallout, Fallout 2 and Die By The Sword. I would have bought Sanitarium too but when I woke up Saturday the sale was over already. Oh, and I also bought Celestial Mechanica too.

For ~$125 I am nineteen games/DLCs richer.

My expectations are now totally skewed unfortunately. I wanted to buy Alpha Polaris but upon seeing the $20 price tag, I simply couldn't. Not so soon after the sale.

Speaking of Let's Play, anyone got good adventure games Let's Play to suggest me? I found out I have an easier time falling asleep watching LPs but after Paw, Rose and Lordkat's King's Quest V, Quest For Glory I and Space Quest II, Kikoskia and Amayirot Akago's Space Quest LPs and Frankomatic's King's Quest VI, I'm all out of idea. I tried a couple Leisure Suit Larry and Police Quest but the players didn't bother reading the text out loud or showing the hilarious deaths, same thing with a bunch of LucasArts games.

In my opinion, a good LP should have a funny player who'll poke fun at the game, read the text out loud if there's no speech, show as many death as possible, accidentally or not and examine or interact with useless objects, watching someone just go for the puzzles is boring, I prefer when players played the game before but forgot the solutions and you can watch them stumble around, with no idea what to do. I think that's why Paw's King's Quest V was so hilarious. Anyway, if you know adventure games LPs that fit the bill, just say so.

And I just finished it. I've been waiting for this game for so long, I loved The Inside Job but All In The Game just blew my mind. The plot was amazing, the dialogues were witty and well written, some scenes were hilarious, it's always fun to talk with a new character, the puzzles were well designed, but what really wowed me is the animations, every new animation put a smile on my face, the cutscenes and close ups were a real treat for the eyes and seeing Thalia's look changes depending on the room she's in never gets old. I also loved the last third of the game, from the moment I entered the Phantasmagoria room nothing short of a fire in the building could have made me stop playing, I was totally engrossed in your game.

I hope we'll see more games from you in the future, Adventure sequels or not, you're just too good at weaving stories, animating and designing puzzles to stop now. :)

BTW, what is this talk about different route? Am I gonna regret saving on the same slot for the whole game?

Holy crap, I've found the different route, this game never cease to amaze me, I look forward finishing it a second time tomorrow.

Ben: Does this puzzle happen to be unlocking the kitchen cabinet? Trying a code at random I managed to light one of the three red lights but I'm clueless about the remaining codes, or where I'm supposed to find the hint to that puzzle in the first place.

Dem combination puzzles, how I hate thee!

The Spawn animated series, considered superior than the source material by most. 18 episodes of awesome ending with a cliff hanger just as it was getting too good for human eyes.

Thanks for the replies, I showed him vids of Turrican II but he says it's not that.

Apparently I misunderstood his description of the gameplay the first time around. According to him, you played as a ball, on the press of a button, a grappling hook was shot on ceilings so you could swing over gaps, on the press of another button the ball would turn into a robot that could fire at enemies, but not jump.

The hunt is still on!

Alright, a friend of mine was looking for a game yesterday, a game he used to play when he was a kid, and since you guys are pro at finding the titles of old games people are looking for, I figured this was the perfect place to ask.

According to my friend, the game was a 2D platforming game, released between 1990 and 2000, on PC, where you could run, jump, shoot, morph into a ball and where you could fire a grappling hook on ceilings/walls to swing around from platform to platform. And no, it's not Super Metroid.

General Discussion / Re: GTD: DLC
Mon 13/06/2011 17:44:09
What kind of DLC are you willing to pay for? Why?
I pay for stuff, not for fluff. Extra levels, units, challenges, plot... I'll jump on. Skins, avatars, hats and other stuff that has otherwise no affect on the actual gameplay or plot, I don't care.

Do you believe that DLC is a good/bad thing? Why?
Mostly good. I've always been a sucker for expansion packs and patches that add crazy tons of extra stuff to games I loved, played the crap out of and thought I knew everything about. When DLC is genuinely designed with the purpose of expanding the core game, it's a good thing.

That said, most companies embraced DLC for a reason, and it's not to expand their games or give players extra stuff, producing a single DLC can go up to a few millions bucks with no guarantee of return on the investment, the purpose of DLC, for most companies, is to fight used games market, which they consider as bad if not worse than piracy. As long players hold onto their copy because there's a DLC around the corner, used games bins will be empty and people won't have much choice than buy new copies. That's why you don't see much DLC for games that are more than a year old, that's why DLC are so damn important in the first days and weeks of a game's shelf life, and why they're often designed and produced at the same time as the core games.

Do you think that the inclusion of exclusive DLC warrants Boycotting? Why?
I have a profound hatred for exclusivity deals, period. When I get into a game or a series, it's all or nothing, I want to soak myself into every details of it or none at all. And it annoys me to know I'm missing something because I bought the game on the wrong system, the wrong store or at the wrong time.

I want my missing level in the NES version of Donkey Kong, and the missing icycle in Mario Bros. And I'm still irked that after playing through the 120 original levels of Lemmings I discovered the Genesis version had more levels ("Hey! Remember that time you finished Lemmings at 100%? Well you didn't!") And I only renewed my love with the C&C series when I discovered some cool dude created a patch for the original Red Alert, to add the briefing videos made for the PS1 version of Red Alert (Badass General Carville briefed the Allies missions, years before Red Alert 2!)

You wanna make exclusive DLCs? Fine, but they better be included in the deluxe version of the game you'll release a couple years later, otherwise there are chances I won't be arsed to play it, if I do, I'll have this naggy feeling that I'm not seeing everything the whole time I'll play, which will make me less giddy about sequels, won't make me search every nook and cranny, won't make me talk about your game on fan forums, and I won't take pride in seeing your game in its original box next to tons of other games I love, which sit in my shelves in their original boxes.

Everyone's different but that's how I am. All or nothing, I press the pause button when I need to go to the bathroom during a movie to not miss a single second, no matter how insignificant to the story it might be and I want my games to have all features if possible.

QuoteFor example if I had an XBOX version of Super Meat Boy and was obsessed with playing that game, I might be really angry that I don't have access to the Super Meat World from the PC version - endless supply of new levels + a level editor.

And owners of the PC version obsessed with the game might be irked that they're missing some playable characters and levels designed or approved by Team Meat.

QuoteAt what point is a game "complete"?

When it includes all the features that have been created for it, all the DLCs, and when you don't need to buy another version to see the n% content that's exclusive to that specific version because it's already present in the "complete" one or because there is no exclusive content.
