As if keeping a girl around wasn't hard enough,  I dont think I need to handicap my self any further by bringing my dorkieness into the bedroom.

It was quite funny though.

Well, I'm not sure what the hub-bub is all about, but i can freely say that I havn't deleted any posts/threads around here in aloong time.  I prefer the locking/editing route as it is  not permenant.

Dasjoe: we may have disagreed on prcessors (not directly though)  but I had no hand in any deletion of your posts.

I, Robot took little more from the book then the name, and the 3 laws.

While it was a mildly entertaing action movie with some really nifty camera moves, it 's a bummer to think that a real movie based on the Robot books wont ever be made now.

I've read several books recently that would make AWSOME movies provided they had a budget or roughly 1 billion dollars and people would sit through a movie that was 12+ hours long.

what books you ask?

The Revelation Space Triology By Alastair Reynolds... go read them now.

Jaz,  that was a bit harsh.

I'd like to see this idea flushed out a bit more, I think you've touched on something quite interesting.  I'm a fan of historical setting game (WW II being my favorite)  Would this be a Point and click adventure type game?  or maybe something 3d? there are lots of ways you could go with this, keep the ideas flowing!

While I dont share layabouts particular view on it, I've never really seen what all the hub-bub is about CS, seriously?  what makes it any better then any other on-line FPS?

And this steam thing sounds like they made it impossible to use this software with out a high speed connection?

I dont know.  Give em an on-line version of hitman anyday, plan your kills, like a real killer would ;)

Conscription is one of those ideas that should follow Fascism and forced atrittion  into the dark shadows of history.

Best of luck to you man. hopfully no one will invade Finland and as long as your government stays out of the bloody clutched of the Bush Regime, you should avoid being deployed to any of the "Hot Spots" in the world.

I think Conscription should consist of nothing more then a 2 weeks weapons training course and someone saying:  "good!, now if anyone invades, everyone shoot at them!" and that being it.

The AGS psycho-therapy thread.

This actually seems like a halfway decent way to work out some of the issues one might be having over a recent seperation.  I know lots of writers that use events in their own life to write very successful stories, all though I think this one is a bit short to really gain an insite as to whats going on in your own head.  Try really pouring some emotion into the words, to quote every doctor out there: "just let it all out"

As for whats going on in your life:  I'm sorry to hear about your seperation, thats always a hard thing.  But try looking at it from the long view.  Where were you expecting this relationship to go?  were you thinking you were gonna marry this girl?  did the good times out number the bad?  were you completely content?  I've found that if you really start to pick apart  a recently ended relationship you find that there were many things you wern't happy with, and that alot  of stress has been removed.  And this will inturn help you start feeling better about your self.

As for your familly issues: you need to confront them.  You need to do it in an undeniable way.  There are things that will make all people, no mater how cold or emotionally closed down they are, sit up and take notice.

And those are the words of Father C.  Good luck.

Hello boys and girls!  Just thought I'd share this freeware game I've been digging latley.  It's called Armagetron, and it's based on the light cycle races in the classic sci-fi Tron.  The graphics are excellent for such a small download and you can race people over the net.  I highly recommend this one.

You can get it for free here: http://armagetron.sourceforge.net/tron.html

and here asre some screenshots:

I hope some of you get a kick out of this.

some advice: dont put windows on a smaller, older, SLOWER HDD, I've tried this and your system performance falls through the floor.  when you can, upgrade your self to a nice, new 120gb HDD and dont worry about it for a while to come.  Later, buy your self an older, slower drive and make back-ups of all you work files: images you made,  music your working on (like sequencer files) games you're making work files.  dont wory about backing up your programs so much as you can always just re-install those along with your OS.  Also copy the installer files to the *free* programs you're downloading off the net, like Firefox and adobe acrobat and the odd driver files you have to update.  that will save you from having to re-download if the worst should happen.

With this system, if you loose your HDD again, all you'll have to do is re-install you OS, and your software from CD, then just copy over your work files, installers for you non-cd based software and any divers you need and your back in business in a few short hours after the drive is connected and powered up.

I tell you what, if it *does* hit, I'm getting my ass a front row seat!  I'm not gonna be one of those monleys who crawls out of some shelter 10 years after it hits to try to scratch a living out of ash and rock.  I've seen the Mad Max movies, and I'm all set.

Man, it seems like everytime I turn around, there's another nightmare story about sp2.  I recently aquired the sp2 update on CD so I wouln't have to go through any lengthy d/l processes, but from the looks of things that CD will sit right where it is untill it decays naturally (should only take about 5,000 years).  Or maybe I should take it down to the local chruch and see if they can exsise the deamons out of it.

Is sp2 REALLY this bad??

Anarcho, you are correct, there is an earier version of this movie set in the US, and also every year on Halloween, National Public Radio does it as a radio play, using all of there news personallities acting it out as though it's really happening.  It's quite entertaining.
There is also an RTS game based on the book set in victorian england, that is so rediculusly hard  it never became popular.

PaulSC:  yeah, as I recall the aliens end up dying from the common cold.

This is one of those films that could turn out really good, or really bad.  I'm hoping for the former.  I personally had always hoped that someone would re-make wor of the worlds, though I was never sure if I wanted it set in modern times or not.

The preview doesn't really show or tell me anything, so I guess I'll have to wait.  But I'll definatley catch it in the theater on concept alone.
