Religion has become another form of mass media anyway, they're just selling spirituality.  It's really sad because, to some people, faith actually means something, to alot it's "Fill them pews people!  we gotta prove that our god is bigger, stronger, and richer then theirs!"

How does she know that you dont already have faith in something else?  it's like: "If you dont go to MY chruch, then your wrong!!"  and even if you dont have any kind of faith or belief system, what business is it of hers anyway?  It's supposed to be a personal choice,  if I'm not mistaken, in christianity, you have to accept god into your heart in your own time...  forced attrition doesn't cut it in my book.  Besides, they're selling something they cant back-up anyway.

My advice: stay away from this one,  you would have to work really hard to find some common ground in this relationship, and it would prolly be so far down the list of importance (you both like backgammon or some shit)  that it would be buildiing the foundation of your relationship out of toothpicks on a fault line in the sand.  ie: not very stable.

Junc:

I'm not saying that my music will never be heard or apreciated.  I actually have fans in my area, people I've never met!  A feew weeks ago I met a guy at a bar and struck up a conversation, gradulay the talk turned to music and I asked:  so what music are you into?"  he pointed at me and said "your's man"   I had never met the guy!  I was in total awe.  I'll never stop making music or hoping people listen, but at 28 I cant afford to bet the farm on it  and I'll never morph my self into Kayne West or Paul Okenfold to support my self.  I'd rather work in a wearhouse and make my music underground.

And there is a home for my music: http://www.looptheorist.com   It's still under construction, but the foundation has been poured :)

ps:  thanks for the pep talk man, I tend to need that from time to time.  Check your PM's

Hello ladies and Gents!

I aparently won the last contest, so it's my honor and privillage to present this weeks!

The theme here is "Found Sound"

Explainer:  The object here is to make a full musical work of at leat 3 minutes in length that incorporates as a major part of the song a "found sound"  something recorded from everyday life or not everyday life.  The sound cannot be: sampled from any kind of musical instrument or a recording of speech.  The sound may be run through any effects you wish or chopped up however you want.  By major part of the compistion I mean that it cant be a one shot deal thrown into the song at some point,  I mean doing something like using the sound of a door salmming as part of the drums. You can even make the entire track out of found sounds, but it must have some form of musical struture, no noise tracks please.

Entries will be judged on both how the sound is used and how creative you are in what sound you use.

Good luck to all!

I drive a forklift and do wearhousing work.  My job title is "Material Handler"  Which is alot more complex then I ever thought it would be.  My duties inculde: Shipping and receiving fishised products and raw materials all over the country and to Canada,  Gathering together and orgianizing all the raw materials for the production areas (Assembly, QA, printshop, testing ect ect)  and keeping the wearhouse organized and running smooth.

Tomorrow, for exsample, all the big shipments will be going out, so I'll spend about half my night loading Tractor-trailer trucks and making sure they have all the paper work they'll need.

It's not bad work at all, and if I worked for a bigger, better company, I'd make decent money, but sice I work for a samll time operation, with a greedy thug for an owner, I make just enough to live.

As for what I want to do with my life... I'm not sure.  I always thought I wanted to go into film.. to direct movies.  But the more I think very hard about it, the more I think that my movies would end up alot like my music:  not something most people would be interested in.  I really dont think inside the box creativly, and if your particular vision as an artist doesn't have market value, then no one will pay you for it.  I've alway been go at, and really enjoyed working with my hands, I spent a long time as a carpenter.  So I've actually been considering going off to trade school to become a boat builder.  even if I dont become riiich at it, at leat I could live on the sea... something else I've always longed for.

Nice set-up junk!  I'd be jelous, but after 6 years (only 2 taking my self at all seriously) of making music, I've come of the mind that my tools dont use me, I use my tools.  I'm a fan of the hardware-software cross breed set-up.  If I ever get all my stuff in one place I'll take some pic's and post.  but as it stands, there's not alot to look at.

Btw:  How do you like that Korg gear?  I can pick some up pretty cheap, but I havent had much of a chance to play with any of it.

Kinko, please keep in mind that "Attractive" is solely a matter of opinion, therefore there is no "right" and "wrong" in who someone finds attractive.  Some like blonds some like redheads, some like skinny girls some like a woman with curves... please dont generalize or attempt to speak for everyone.

Adam Sandler does suck, most of the time.  Punch Drunk Love was the only movie of his that I can remember liking, and thats because (IMO) he was finally playing a different character then in all of his other stereotypical-fratboy-level-humor rolls.

General Discussion / Moderator contact info
Tue 18/05/2004 17:26:40
Seeing as I'm a Mod here in the Gen-gen forum,  I thought it might be best to keep the other member's abreast of any change in my contact information, in case my modoratorly skills my be needed by anyone.

New Email:  looptheo@looptheorist.com

you can also contact me on AIM, screenname: looptheo

I've mentioned this before, but emailing me directly wiith problems, concerns, questions or comments is better then using the old "report this to a moderator" button, as that just seems to send me a form email with very little information.

I'll sticky this so other mods can enter there info here if they wish.

Happy messageboarding!

Yes,  Steven Seigal can take a loooong walk off a short pier for all I care.  His "acting" is terrible, and his martial arts are worse.  Even B grade hong Kong fung-fu flicks are better put together then the schlock he tries to pass off as movies.

If you hate Seigal, then you need to watch Executive decision, only the first 20 minutes or so, you will be quite pleased with the plot "twist"

General Discussion / Re: Problem with mic

Since no one seems to be offering any help, and *some* people seem to simply be mocking you, let me see if I can sort you out:

1: Open your volume controls by clicking on the small icon in the task bar (lower left hand side of the screen on my computer)

2: in the window that pops up, goto options-->properties

3: in the next window that pops up, check recording and hit OK

4 this should bring up something that looks like a mixer with check boxes at the bottom and volume sliders across the face.  Make sure that the Mic input is checked and that the volume level is up.  once thats set, close the volume properties and record away!

P.S. LGM:  Many pro musicians and producers have multipal soundcards in their computers to up the number of inputs and outputs.  Hell M Audio sound cards a designed to be chained together like that.

The problem is you all think DG is perdictable, but he's not, he's Austrialian, and prolly has a better grasp of real humor then half this community combined.

And now that I've posted, this thread will die, like everything else I post in on this forum.
