The game is a sequel to Cornelius Cat in: The Uncontrollable Pest. However, the games are independent and you don't have to play one to enjoy the other (although you are highly encouraged to try it if you enjoy this game )


Most of the assets were newly created for this game, only the characters and the stage frame (in a modified version) were reused.
Oh, and in case you are wondering: The pie was baked from cookie dough and the icicles were made from a PET bottle

I tweaked the game a bit so it now also works on Android. Just install the official AGS launcher app and copy the game to the ags folder on your phone or tablet.

Hello AGS community!

Same procedure as every year:
This is a friendly reminder for all AGS game developers:

Don't forget to add your games to the database until the end of this month!
Only games that were added to the database during 2018 will be eligible for the AGS Awards 2018 that will start with the beginning of next year. It would be a pity to miss out on such a great opportunity

In case you notice a game that was released this year and is not in the database yet, please contact the authors and remind them to add it!

Is it possible to play an audio clip in a blocking manner (i.e. synchronously)? It is part of a sound related puzzle where after a certain interaction I play a sound and when the sound is finished I do something else.

If it is not possible, I guess I could either check in repEx for the playback to finish or do a while loop in the calling function and check there.
Ideally, I would be able to combine this with a cutscene i.e. player interacts with item, sound starts, player clicks or presses escape, the action afterwards is performed immediately.

Hi there!

A few days ago we visited abstauber and his family on our way back from our summer vacation. It was great to meet again, get to know his kids and talk about AGS, games and nerdy stuff Our kids also enjoyed it a lot.
We also talked about that it would be great to meet other AGSers with kids, especially veteran Mitteneers that can't attend Mittens now because they have kids.

Who would be interested in attending a Mittens with kids?

I want to port Cornelius Cat from AGS to MonoAGS. It is a fairly short game and has neither save/load nor translations, which is not available in MonoAGS, yet.
I thought I'd create a new thread for this, now that there is a separate board, to keep things organised.

I'm currently trying to set up the basic game structure (using mostly the Demo game and a bit of CW's games) and already have the first questions:

Is a player character needed, because it is loaded before the splash screen?

The splash screen (loadSplashScreen) has nothing to do with the Splash asset, right? It is the AGSSplashScreen from the engine but there does not seem to be documentation for it?

I think there should be a subforum for MonoAGS

Yes, a sub-forum for MonoAGS will be useful.

Could we have a sub-forum for MonoAGS? I think it could be either located within the AGS Development or the Associated Sites section. It would be useful for engine development as well as game development using the engine.
Oh, and the moderator should be tzachs, of course.

[AGS 4.0]

Sooner or later, a new version of AGS will be needed. I want to start a discussion because I want to see the general vibe of the community about this.

Several people started projects for this, to my mind come

• AGS 4.0 which is a cleanup of the existing AGS engine
• MonoAGS, created by tzachs as AGS successor
• XAGE by Clarvalon

The question is, how should we, as AGS community, treat those projects? I started this topic because of Monsieur OUXX's thread. He suggested that MonoAGS should be allowed for MAGS. How much space do we want to give it in the forum already? He also suggested to make topics about it in the technical boards.

Some advantages I see in giving MonoAGS or XAGE more attention:

• Make it more visible, spread the knowledge
• The sooner people use it, the sooner there is feedback for the developer(s)
• Prepare for a smooth transition to a new tool

Some disadvantages

• It is in a very early stage and probably only useable to a few hardcore game developers, not the majority here.
• There is no official successor of AGS
• It could be confusing, especially for the technical boards, especially with more different engines

Do we want to define an official AGS successor? Shall we wait and see how projects develop? Maybe it is time to have a separate board for MonoAGS where all technical stuff can be discussed? Shall it be allowed for MAGS?

What are the thoughts of the engine developers, game deveopers, the community?

How do the AGS Awards work?
(This is information mostly for new members, same procedure as every year)

Every year, the AGS community embarks on a quest to find the best games made in the last year. All games are eligible, that were added to the AGS Database in the year 2017. There is a For Your Consideration thread where authors can promote their games and players get a good overview what might be worth playing.

The awards are a two-step process: First there is a nomination phase where all community members can nominate the eligible games in several categories (it will be the same categories as last year). The top five games of each category make it to the voting. Again, all members of the community can vote on their favourite games.
The final result is then announced in a live ceremony that can be joined either with a special client or any regular irc client (details to follow).

Kanji are Chinese characters that are used to write the Japanese language. There are several thousands of them. All Japanese children have to learn about 2200 kanji at school. Gakusei (pronounced "gucksay") means student.

Help our little girl to finish her homework by finding the six required Kanji.



Once you have found the characters, it is YOUR task to write them in her notebook.
An animation shows the correct writing stroke by stroke. Can you write them in the correct order?

Wiki is like 10 years old compared to recent release, it is not even updated to AGS 3.2.1 (last version made by Chris Jones).
(I feel like repeating this for the 10th time in past couple of years, because people keep getting into similar situation ).

Maybe we should mark those wiki pages on the top of the page? We could make a banner that says "This article is outdated and only applies to old versions of AGS"

Iceland sounds amazing, but no Mittens for us this year. We are going to have a baby in September so I won't do any long travelling this summer.

As it turns out though, we're going to Prague, Vienna and Budapest so that's off the table.

Awesome! Would be great if we could meet in Vienna. Since I'm off from work in July already, I have lots of time. We could also go on a short side trip outside of Vienna, like we did in Kawagoe...
