Most Distinct Voice: JudasFm Kawamoto was a bit boring, I think Hikari and Ueda really stood out. I could see them acting in my imagination.
Best Play: Again, JudasFm. I could really imagine where doors open, people enter and leave, walk around, and the light setting. I liked Mandle's part 1 a lot, but I think part 2 was rather meh. I don't like special effects in theater, most of the time they look ridiculous and I didn't get what this was about anyway.
Best Writing: This one goes to Baron. I also like that you invented a back story why there is only one scene left.
Best Plot: JudasFm I just love murder mystery stories.

Thank you so much for playing and voting!
And I agree with lanchong, A Suspicious Date was very original and fitted the theme. If if were a bit longer, I'm sure it would have gotten more votes.

Excellent pick, Kastchey! I just finished playing and I got ending
Spoiler
A - Obviously I guessed it right. It was quite difficult because there were only clues, no real proof. But no other person was that suspicious so I just guessed  :)

Too bad there is no save option, it actually took me longer that 1 hour to play, there are a lot of rooms to explore.

@Babar: The games were dismissed because they were already PotM before. And I think newer games need more love than old games.

Why would you need 500 frames for a game character when talking about pixel art? Of course this depends on resolution, but then again, when making 500 frames of an existing sprite this does not require one hour per frame, especially for an experienced artist.

Regarding the wages: I think this totally depends on the country where you live. I think in central Europe a professional graphic designer will not work for less than 50â,¬ per hour (I'm talking about experienced people who do this for a living, pay taxes and are contracted as freelancer). Somewhere else in the world you might only have to pay 25â,¬, 10â,¬ or less.

@Frodo: If you do something as your job, you need to earn money with it. Otherwise it is not a job but a hobby.

I like this discussion, but I'll ask a mod to move this to a different board, btw.

Thank you for your work and taking into consideration the issues I had!

Thank you for the reviews so far!

Spoiler

About the puzzles being to easy: Slasher and I were "hired" by Blondbraid to design the puzzles - looks like we did our job only so-so, if they were too easy  :P
The maze puzzle was originally more complicated and I agree that using the lantern for a puzzle would have been a great idea. But you can do only so much within a month...

I know this forum is for AGS, but it's nice to sometimes see some non-AGS adventure games.
This is the Adventure Related board, and this is an adventure game - the thead is right where it belongs. And it's always nice when old AGSers drop by and show what they are doing :)

Congrats for the release!

Winter Rose was PotM in August 2006, Femspray was PotM in April 2013.

Don't you play any recent games, guys?  (laugh)

I returned from a suspicious date, and what shall I say - spot on regarding the topic!

Spoiler
I love the idea of the UI, using the receipt is so creative. The only problem is, that without the hint in this thread I wouldn't have figured out how to use it. Anyway, it was very clever but very short - it was over too soon, I would have loved to play another "level".

Can you use the author's description?

No, this would be boring and too easy  ;)

I would like to have a more personal message from the person who chooses the game. Just have a look at previous picks to get an idea.

Durq, Blondbraid: No teaser for me?
#1312
The download mirror in the game database now provides a Linux version of the game.
#1313
I don't care if a protagonist is queer - pick of the month is for recommending good games.

Write a teaser for a suitable game and I'll set it.
#1314
No, it hasn't! Write a teaser for it and I'll put it up  :)
#1315
Thanks! I made a build and sent it to VampireWombat for testing. Let's hope this works  :)
#1316
Thanks for the feedback!

I tested the game with Direct 3D and didn't have any graphic issues. I recommend to use this setting.

The crack in the wall:
Spoiler
My idea was, that there was bright light coming from behind (the last scene was not painted, yet, when I coded the room). But it seems it doesn't look too great. I will keep this in mind and change it for a later post-MAGS version.

I usually start with an atmosphere, an emotion, a scene, and then dig deeper and deeper into the specific details
So, what is the emotion here? What was the emotion that caused the scene?

Another month another pick!

Cat, you need to download the Linux package and place it inside Adventure Game Studio installation folder, to generate a proper Linux build.

Ah, good to know. Just copy it there and the "Build for Linux" option will show up? I'll try it in the evening.

Edit: I downloaded the latest beta3 (3.5.0.12) and the linux pack. I copied the whole linux pack in the editor folder. What shall I do now?
#1320
I'm using a new AGS beta version and sadly there is no option to compile for Linux anymore. I posted in the thread of the beta:
