@Riaise: The link is updated, thanks AGA!

Ok, guys, please just don't vote for yourself. We might or might not check it, but actually I'd prefer if I can trust everyone.
#2002
It's time to vote!

Make sure to play all the games that were nominated and pick your favourite for each category!

In contrast to the nomination phase, this time you should not vote for your own games or games where you are listed as team member, to keep things fair.
#2003
I'd say yes, please don't vote for games where you actively worked on (I'm not talking about giving advise in CL or the technical forums, but games where you are listed as team member). Otherwise it's more a matter of having lots of team members voting for each others accomplishments.
#2004
Voting will start soon!

Make sure to play all the games that were nominated and pick your favourite for each category!

In contrast to the nomination phase, I think this time you should not vote for your own games, to keep things fair. Is everyone okay with this?

Perhaps means to set all default config from the editor would be useful. Right now you can set only default renderer.

This might actually be a good idea. At the moment, it is a bit confusing how to properly prepare the config file for shipping. There are several config files lying around in the directories and are copied during compile. And when you open the winsetup, actually your local user files is edited. It gets more complicated when you then use special config values like a name for the default language.

Just edit the settings file you ship with the game ;)

I guess it depends on how your game should work and look like.

Do you want to have a certain background for each formula? For example, in the v=s/T room show a racing car or something. Then it might be easiest to have one room per question. You can then store the randomly generated values in variables.

If your background always stays the same and you display random questions for random formulas after each other, you might want to have a look at modules. They are a neat way to manage code that belongs together and you don't need global variables.

You can use the giveScore feature to count points for correct questions :)

I have updated the Wiki-page.

If you find any errors, please tell me. Or, even better, fix them yourself, since it's a wiki :)

Then please make it smaller so people with lower resolution (like me) still can see it and can compare it easily with the previous versions (which is also smaller).
#2011
Thanks, Dave! This list is also very useful for people who want to know which games they still have to play.

I know there are lots of commercial games, but most of them have a free demo. Even if you don't want to or can't afford to buy them all, please play at least the demo. Maybe you like it so much, that you want to buy the game after all :)

A hint to authors: Now might be a good time to offer discounts on your games ;)

Haha, this is what I get for releasing a game in Jan. of 2016! Forgot about this... thanks to all who nominated "Order of the Thorne: The King's Challenge" for best voice work!

That's what you get for not posting in the "For your Consideration" thread. It's not related to the month of release.

I think character art applies to both, the character themselves and portraits if available. Remember, not all games have or need portraits. The Journey of Iesir for example does a great job in showing character emotions without portraits (and I actually prefer this over portraits).

I also don't think that best background art and character art are necessarily interchangeable. It just happens that many games that have good graphic artists are good at both aspects. Last year for example, there were different games nominated for these categories.

I moved the nomination improvement discussions to a new thread to keep things organised:

Is it the nomination mode per se (i.e. picking up to 10 games per category) or just the UI that is bothersome? How could this be improved?

I don't think we can change the voting for this year, but suggestions for next year are certainly welcome.

Nominations are over

The results are in! This year I want to try something different and present the nominees in a casual IRC ceremony.

AGS nominations will be revealed on Sunday, 5.2.2017 at 18:00 GMT in the #ags channel on irc.adventuregamestudio.co.uk.

Just pop in, chat, play a game of acro and hang around with friendly people.

Join the #ags channel on the official AGS IRC server at irc.adventuregamestudio.co.uk (see here for detailed instructions: https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/community/irc/).

I don't really understand you
- you are making a commercial game
- you know that some people will have issues with DirectDraw
- you still want to risk pissing people off just because of one single plugin?

You know, Kinky Island is a retro adventure which means that the target audience probably does not have the most high-end computers. Win7 Laptops are still very common (our whole company uses them, for example). I even know a few people still using WinXP :P

Last few hours!

I hope you were able to nominate, Creamy? Please contact AGA if you have any problems.

Hm, the slope doesn't look steep enough for this to work perspective-wise. It looks like it is somewhat hanging with a rather vertical edge at the end. I think it's the immediate transition between the slope and the clouds. I'd make the lower end of the slope a bit foggy already to indicate a smooth transition down. If the lower part is far away, also aerial perspective will start to show.
