I think it's much better now with the adjusted colors and the moved foreground rocks. Not much a fan of the curved horizon - do you really want to have a fish-eye look here?

Btw, what is this black joystick on the rock in the middle supposed to do?

My suggestions would be:

  • Move to 32bit (I once had problems getting a 16bit game to run on a modern computer)
  • Get rid of the plugin. Plugins are a terrible idea anyway, because they will not work with Linux, for example.

When searching for games by category, deleted games are shown in the list. I wanted to find the most recent MAGS games so I set the filter for MAGS only and sorted by date.
This (duplicate) entry shows up in the list, but when clicking it, I get the message that the entry does not exist:

For me it's the other way round - those rocks in the foreground, pointing to the left edge of the picture, draw all my attention. What is the main focus point of the image supposed to be? That golden structure? You could try to flip the left part of the foreground rocks to make them point towards that golden thing.

Have you already nominated your favourite games for the AGS awards? You know, that big, red announcement in the forum is there for a reason ;)
I just did it right now, even though it was hard to decide.

Nominations end at 17:59 GMT on Saturday 04 February 2017. When everything is going smoothly with the voting script, results will be announced on Sunday in a small casual IRC ceremony and of course in this thread afterwards.

Watch this space for more details!

Adventure Gamers reviewed Tales and gave it 4 out of 5 stars:

The German Adventure-Treff gave it 85% (which is very good):

Awesome work! The background graphics are absolutely beautiful and the animations could appear in any Disney movie. I loved all that little animations for various facial expressions, they give so much life and personality to the characters. And each of the characters has a unique personality and is relevant to the story.
The puzzles fit nicely in the story and I like that the whole setting is a bit dynamic with locations only being accessible and characters appearing when appropriate.
The writing is generally funny, although it sometimes tends to be too verbose.
The parallax scrolling is smooth and adds a lot of depths.
The cinematics and timing of the intro video are excellent.

The music and sounds are very fitting to the scenes. However, at the main square, it was very annoying to have "live music" and background music at the same time. Even tough the music faded in volume, at the place where most action happened (i.e. talking to the bird-hat guy) both levels were about the same and I had to turn off the speakers. Having no background music in the room would have been the much better option.
I couldn't quite get to like the UI. The icon changing to fit the action was ok, but in combination with the right-click-look it was weird (especially when the left action was look as well). I'd have preferred either a verbcoin or just a single-click interface. In the bug-box puzzle there are no mouse-over-hotspot indications. The puzzle is somewhat confusing because of this. I know that this is not automatically supported in AGS to have this for GUI elements, but it can be implemented.

All in all, very professional game. I was really disappointed when I entered the cave and it suddenly was over :~(

I just played the demo and enjoyed it! At first, I was a bit sceptic because of the rather sloppy graphic style but you soon get used to it. With the stats screens and pop-ups for tasks/inventory it has a very professional look and feel. The game has a very dynamic feel with characters moving around and rain coming and going.

Great graphics/sounds/setting. However, I didn't quite like that kind of games back then, and I'm definitely not patient enough for them now. Dying three times in room 3 was enough to make me quit :P

We HAVE to include this icon in the standard AGS forum icon set :)

Is ist legit to nominate your own games?  :-D

Yes, it is, if you think your game deserves it based on each categories. Please just don't nominate your game in every single category, but think about where the game really stands out above other games.
Your MI game for example uses ripped graphics, so you probably wouldn't want to nominate it for the graphics awards. But what I've heard about it, it has great humour and puzzles, so you might want to nominate it for "Best Writing", "Best Puzzles", "Best Freeware Game",...

This actually applies to all games: don't go all fanboy but try to judge each game for its own merits. Try to play as many games as possible and then decide on your nominees.

Funny and short, well done for a first game. The title is awesome.

I'm usually not into horror games, but I enjoyed this one a lot! The atmosphere was great, the backgrounds and how you could explore the surroundings were immersive and the soundscape was creepy. Gameplay was really good!

A few thinks that could maybe be improved:
The exits were sometimes not clear. Not only were they on strange locations sometimes (in front of the petrol station, behind the station when entering the woods), but sometimes I didn't even realize that there were several different exits, especially when in the front of the screen.
Spoiler
I only figured out there was a body in the toilet because of the walkthrough. I didn't know that the exit lead the another room.

It was good to be able to skip walking, but right click felt a bit weird. Usually this is done with double click.

The time of day sometimes seemed to change from one screen to another, especially at the farm and tower.

Spoiler
Instead of warning the player to save before the shooting sequence you could have just implemented an autosave feature and showed the messaged "Autosaved". This is easy to do with AGS.

Having to a loong puzzle chain just to get a jar when there were so many containers lying around everywhere felt weird.
