Ok, I'll write a few thoughts about each house:

1) A bit off from Lisbon, but this house seems to have the nicest communal areas, shops and restaurants are close, might be a bit expensive
2) Also far from Lisbon, large communal BBQ area, not sure how close shops and restaurants are
3) Also far from Lisbon, looks very nice, I don't see any large communal area for all to sit down, shops in 5min driving distance
4) I think it looks ugly
5) Very far from Lisbon and neither house nor pool appeal to me
6) Close to Lisbon, but this seems to be one villa that shares the pool with other houses?
7) Close to Lisbon, but I'm not sure what to think of this - which part of this huge estate is rented here?
8) Far away from Lisbon, I don't see any large communal area and the house doesn't appeal to me
9) Close enough to Lisbon, looks nice, several commnual areas, very nice location but not sure if there are shops or restaurants in walking distance. Make sure we get to rent the whole house, not only one or two floors, than this is my favourite so far. Pool with sea view FTW!

Taking a closer look at this, the villa seems to be in a neighbourhood similar to the house in Ireland and far away from Lisbon.

None the less, it looks nice enough to hang around there for a week!

Second criteria is the location, it's unlikely I will be able to afford plane tickets to Portugal or Croatia on top of all other expenses, even with cheap airlines. Personally, I also believe that an accessible location for almost everybody is better than a more far out place where much fewer people can make it to, but that's just my opinion, doesn't have to 'influence' anything. I will confirm that I take part or not once a time and location is set.
People come from all over Europe and hopefully even from America. So no matter where Mittens will take place, almost everyone will have to come by plane.

All houses that AGA posted look nice. Tamara's castle looks great but it is way above our price limit. We should also consider the houses Disco has posted here http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=49800.msg636479067#msg636479067

Thanks, I started playing and I'm enjoying it so far :)

Honestly, I don't think an appartment is a good idea. There should be at least some kind of private garden so I think a house is a must.

I'm not sure if public transport is really that important, there wasn't much in Italy either. An airport is necessary which is probably difficult in Croatia.

I think neither Croatia nor Portugal, Tenerif or the Netherlands (according to Tamara) offer lots of public transport in rural areas (where houses of our size usually are). Are there strong opinions against renting cars?

Then we need to get a rough figures of numbers immediately, like I say, there's literally only one villa available in Croatia at the moment for any group size over 14.
I posted some villas that still seem to be available (ok, one of them is ugly :P). I agree though, that we shouldn't wait too long until booking.

If it is in Croatia, we will definitely drive (having 4 free spots), but flight options might be limited indeed. The Portugal options seem to be close to Lisbon with an international Airport and rental cars, so no problem here. If we are going to Tenerif we would need a rental car as well, so this is not a valid point for me.

Yes, I mean simply zipped files without the installer. Some people prefer an installer while others (like myself) prefer to just unzip a folder and start playing right away. It would be nice if you could provide both options :)
#3108
Hi, is there an installer free version available?

My problem with commercial games is not that I have to pay for them, but that I have to register on a site first, give them my credit card information,...
If I could just pay with paypal without registering on yet another site I'd probably buy more games...

Another game that was not mentioned here yet:

Barn Runner: The Rich Dame Who Cut The Cheese

Please consider this game for

  • Best dialog The dialog is very funny and changes according to story progression
  • Best gameplay For endlessly looping scrolling rooms and ridiculous investigations
  • Best non-player character The coat check bot

I'd love to go to Croatia or Portugal but I'm not too fond of the Netherlands (a week at a sunny pool is just much more appealing)

I don't speak any Croatian (except for "hvala") and neither does Bernhard. Also my neighbours go to Croatia every year for vacation and they didn't mentioned any difficulties. I think we will get along without problems, especially in touristy areas.

Cat and Bernhard have holidayed in Croatia, so I assume they were able to cope.
Yeah, this shouldn't be a problem. And if we are going to Istria we can probably get along with Italian.

I've also had a look at various houses. I think we should aim for 18-20 people and either close to the beach or with a pool. However, it seems that most houses at the beach that would fit our group size are apartment houses. I think we need a large communal space and not several apartments with each a small kitchen and livingroom. I'll have a look and post some houses.

Has the buxfixed/proofread version been released (i.e. when I download it now, what version do I get)?
