Whispered World does almost exactly what you are going to do - change a character's shape with buttons. Afair the menue is collapsed in the top right corner and expands when you move the mouse there:

Wow, great! I'll definitely try that one.

About renaming: I had to rename a character once (with 3.2.1) and search-replaced it all over the project. However, this didn't get me the occurencies in the dialog topics. I only found that one later on :( Could this be included in the search?

I went though the list of my games today and added the thread numbers to them. It was not a lot of effort. I know, people like Ponch will have to do much work. Still, I think it's not too much to ask for.

On another note: Now that we are currently so active - wouldn't it be nice to add missing screenshots? On the mainpage, out of the three randomly chosen screenshots often only one is available. Is there a way we could collect them and upload them to the db? I guess most of the authors aren't active anymore. The same is valid for broken download links...

Suddenly the "See the people who made this game and any other games they've worked on >>>" dropdown doesn't seem to work anymore

Hm, this list is empty for me...

I agree that it is much more atmospheric. But now that you have used gradients, its not exactly pixel art anymore (I see that on the color count). Take a look at this tutorial http://www.kafkaskoffee.com/tutorials/gradients.shtml.

I think the purple of the "thing" still needs more contrast. Try making the darkest purple even darker and align the other purple tones accordingly.

I just recognized Björk and then I remembered that I really want to watch this movie one day  :)
Spoiler
After that I checked the image link - please remember to rename the filename for future movies ;)

Sorry for the quality, got the pic from a Youtube video - but it should be fairly easy if you know the film...

Rating, and pasting your review into the comments field, would be helpful.  A lot more people are likely to see your opinions if they're on the main site than if they're hidden away on the forums!

Yes, but currently I mostly write detailed reviews also with feedback for the author and frequent spoilers. That's not something I'd like to post in the database. So I'd have to write a different comment.

By the way, now that you are in a list creation spree: The recent comments only shows the last 5 entries, would it be possible to get a list with more than that? I'd like to read the most recent reviews people made because of this thread and I wouldn't know how to find them.

The bakesale-link http://agsbakesale.com/ should be removed from the database, because it now leads you somewhere else.
Saw it on the database for to "visit games website" (Escape the Barn and Zombie Attack).

Done. Thanks, Tabata!

Useful list! Seems I rated 48 games till now. Usually I rate as soon as I have completed the game. However, I recently started to write detailed reviews in the game's thread instead. Maybe I should also rate those games?

Actually, who would be interested in another OROW?

Yeah, the name of the game is "Guess the movie title" and not "Make obscure innuendos but refuse to say the name".
#3457
Try this.

also if I compete in a mags game I will constantly tell myself that everything I'm doing is crap and concede defeat..

Everyone that finishes a MAGS game in time can be considered a winner. The advantage of MAGS is that you have a strict time frame and other people will motivate you to finish.

Also the votes seem to have gone missing:

Public Opinion
We can't give you any meaningful ratings yet, because not enough people have told us what they thought about this game. If you've played it, why not help out and let us know what you thought?

Just finished the game!

I played the demo last December on AdventureX and was fascinated by the atmosphere and looking forward to the full game. I have to say my high expectations were fully met.
This game has great story telling and dialog. It was very atmospheric, also with the music and sounds
Spoiler
The scene in the church when you are down in the cellar is amazing tension-wise.
Also the scene upstairs - I knew there would be something terrible there, but I was still shocked when I saw it.

The graphics vary in quality, the speach portraits were great, but Richards sprite was very poor, he looked a bit like a dwarf :P
The backgrounds were ok, the snow effected and sound added a lot to build up immersion.
A bit more animation would have been nice, like
Spoiler
Using the ladder to get the box on the lake, for example

Thanks to your spoilers above in this thread I understood a bit of the ending, which was a bit to quick for me
Spoiler
I still don't fully get Richards role in this, what he was doing with the Polars and why he was in jail.

I got the ending where
Spoiler
I kill the boy and both adults survive.

What were the other endings? Was this triggered by dialog choice? I wouldn't know were I could have acted differently...

The puzzles were very well integrated with the story. However, sometimes I wish that there were more breaks in the dialogs, to get another look around, do something myself, explore, or simply save and quit playing.

You should add this game to games database so it will be eligible for next years AGS Awards.

PS: The DVD is great - Thanks a lot!
