Congratulations to all who won an award!

Also, tabloid press has been there too, here is a shot from yesterday's red carpet:

If anyone has problems connecting via mibbit: Try to use a local client instead. You might already have one installed without knowing (Pidgin for example supports irc)

When I saw this pic I was immediately reminded of the Discworld book "Interesting Times". Don't think they ever made a movie of that, though.

ARRRHHH! All that peer pressure!
If our shakey cow and even icy go all 'Reservoir Dogs', I suppose I'll have to come up with some fancy pants garment as well.

Yes, you have to!  :-D

Very interesting concept.

The first is that at said desk, I want the player to be able to interact with a semi-functional computer desktop. A word processor, a web browser for doing Internet searches on topics that come up throughout researching for the piece, an email program for interacting with other writers and reporters at the paper and a chat client for a more immediate way of doing the same.  My main source of inspiration and main model is the the web browser that was available in Grand Theft Auto IV, but more advanced.  This would obviously take an immense amount of advanced scripting and probably a fair bit of AI work.
There is an AGS game that uses a chat AI, you should try that, it's pretty good:

The third is that the game would need to be able to keep track of very detailed information about characters;
This should be fairly easy in AGS.

The second is the actual writing part.  I've searched these forums a bit and I haven't really come across anybody trying to do this, so I'm guessing this is probably new territory for AGS.  Would it even be possible to build a semi-functional word processor inside an AGS game?  One capable of not only text manipulation, but possibly image manipulation as well (for the layout of the article and such).
This is going to be the hardest part. There are textboxes you could use, but that would hardly be considered a word processor. I don't think layouting is possible (at least it will require some VERY advanced scripting).

What I'm most curious about: How is the game resolved then? Once you hand in your article, is it going to be evaluated in some way?

Looks like Disney's Aladin turned into a live action movie - in the 70s.

I thought about this topic before, luckily I never had problems with this.
But I think this is also an issue the other way round - is the contributor still allowed to use the supplied art or music somewhere? In a portfolio? Even in another game?

A college of mine started to smoke them instead of real cigarettes. But now he doesn't even have nicotin in it anymore, just some fruit taste. He likes the taste of it.

What about a combination? If people want to continue working on their own drawings they can do that, but other people are allowed to pick any result of last round to continue. This way noone has to worry that his work was useless and he's not allowed to continue with it, but others can join in later on or skip a round and continue later with a BG another person has started.

I have to go with ProgZmax here, it's hard to hear on my speakers. I've been listening to other sounds on your page and didn't have any problems there. Did there something go wrong with normalizing?

This is Carl Crocodile on the way to his graduation. He is late, that's why he is going so fast you almost can't see him. Noone knows why he brought his baseball bat, though.

I usually don't listen to tune contest entries, but I'm glad I did this time - very interesting topic and all entries are very good!

Thank you for your nice comments! I know it is very short and the light bulb puzzle is not the most original one, but I'm glad you liked none the less  :)

Voted! Looking forward to the ceremony. Is it going to be a irc/game ceremony again this year?

I like the idea of a workshop edition, but it should not replace the regular blitz. Last time it took several weeks (months?) to finish and it was not intended for people to join in later on. Let's keep the regular blitz as a short-term, fortnightly version and do the long workshop additionally.

At work I use the VS feature Calin has mentioned (though I use the button because I fail to remember shortcuts). It is very useful and I prefer it over the /**/

What about an additional flag on a view called "CharacterView" that is true on default. If it is true, the view screen is shown as always, if it is false, the silly left/right/up/down stuff is not shown and replaced by loop 1/2/3. It's still compatible to older versions but maybe easier to understand.

I think it's good to have all directions of a character animation in one view, so it's easy to replace the current view without worrying about the different loops.
#3479
I never understood why every new view has up/down/left/right loops, even when it is just for object animations. This confused me a lot when starting to use AGS.

Are we talking about absolute or relative paths?
