Here is my first finished AGS game. It is a non-adventure game called "Steamsquares".

Thanks to DutchMarco for hosting!

Edit: The crosspipes work like normal horizontal or vertical pipes but you can choose which way you use them. They are some kind of joker.

Actually, the towers are loosely based on San Gimignano (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Gimignano). They do not serve any purpose, each family wanted to have the highest tower to demonstrate wealth.

I will try to do the changes you suggested. I did not use layers for this (except for the archway, which I merged in the meantime), I wanted to try it without them.

Thank you for your critics, here is a new attempt:
Added "floor" to the archway, detail to way and grass, (hopefully) fixed perspective issues and lowered saturation in background.

I did help with translation and it is indeed confusing. At least dialog lines should be next to each other.

Hi!

I tried some digital painting but I am not satisfied with it. Can you help me to improve it?

The main light source is now symmetrical to the front. I'd try to move it up and to the right for example.

Just ordered it! Now I am exited to play it.

There are two things that pop in my eye:

1) The 1up graffiti is out of perspective, the vertical lines should be like the ones from the pipe (however, it's only a painting, so maybe the artist could have wanted a weird strech)

2) Inconsistent outlines. Some objects have black outlines, some have coloured ones, some have none. I'd definitely replace the black outlines by coloured lines.

That's a very cute game! I had to get used to the cursor but I figured it out very quickly and the gui totally fits the game. I hope, there will be another episode that will continue the story.

He somehow reminds me of Kosh from Babylon 5. He also wears a cape like this to hide his body. I'd show a hand or arm to show that he is reptilian.

Btw, good to see you are back!

Google for "5 point perspective", this might give you some inspiration.

Edit: here is a good video about 4 point perspective http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0iOSjRm0Rkw

If I knew that credit card information is used for my personal copy of the game to show the name I probably would not buy the game. Credit card information is something I don't want to give away anyway (thats why I hardly buy anything on sites I don't fully trust) so I wouldn't want someone to mess around with this information, even my name.
In this case, I'd rather pirate the game then buy it myself  ::)

Wow, great trailer, very cinematic. I'm really looking forward to play the game!

I would try to keep part 5 rather short. I'd give a short overview and then implement a puzzle. In part 6 they will have to do a similar puzzle. I think if you show them too much features at once, they might get confused (and 90-120 minutes isn't a lot of time).

Btw, in which university does this take place?
#4335
Are you going to reflect the character on the floor too?

English is my first language, but I still don't know when it's proper to use "i.e.," vs. "e.g.,"
Dx.

Because that's Latin, not English. "i.e." is short for "id est" which means "that is" and "e.g." is "exempli gratia" which means "for example"

The title has confused me too, with the name I would have expected SciFi, not a game with lots of nature.

Time to end this competition:

loominous: These cats show great character design, however, I wanted entries without background.

Misj': Well executed toon cat, nice pose.

IndieBoy: Nice pixlework, good choice of colours, however, the head looks more like a dog to me.

Gilbet: Weird pose, but I can clearly recognize it as cat

3rd: Gilbet
2nd: IndieBoy

and the winner is Misj'

Congratulations!

Great entries so far! There are still some hours left if you want to enter too.

Cats!

Have fun, and no backgrounds please as this is sprite jam.
