Vista solves this problem, you know... :P

I guess replacing one problem with another one does not really qualify as "solving"  ;)

Why don't you try Gimp? It's free and it is much better than PaintShopPro.

Actually, the limit is mentioned in the wiki http://americangirlscouts.org/agswiki/Engine_limits. I strumbled across this section when was looking for restrictions for a large map.

I think the main problem is the gradient. Looks like you have used a linear gradient rotated by 45° but the planet is a sphere. So the lines of shadow/light especially near the horizon have to be bended (I don't know how to explain better, maybe you could experiment with radial gradient?)

Oh, and maybe this tutorial could be useful for you:

@Dualnames:

when I told my boyfriend about your game without mentioning its name, he said "yeah, and the flower thinks 'Not again!'" So obviously you have to have read the book to get it  ;)

Very bad news, it seems to be a bug and not configurable. I hope they will fix it or I will have to downgrade to 2.x

Ah, big improvement! Just make the hotel sign better readable and you're almost done!

I like the first one best, it has the most interesting layout and looks very professional. However, I do not recognise the picture. Maybe you could use a photo that is somewhat related to music?

You definitely have to add a roof. Even if you want a flat roof there has to be something on the top of the walls to protect them from rain.
http://www.flat-roof-repair.co.uk/ just googled an example.

You might also want to add some windows next to the door. Now it seems like there is nothing in the basement.

Finally I'd suggest not to mix styles. Your character looks very good, with a clean style. You should also use this clean style for your background so forget about smudge and noise tool.

Yeah, its a part of the door frame. I had to draw it to get the right distance from the door to the bar.

I would suggest that you make a paintover of the resized sprites in a clean pixel-style before animating them. I've zoomed into your picture with the final size and I think it shouldn't be hard to do.

I made a clean background of the drawing. What do you think? If it is ok, I will start coloring and adding details.

Thank you for your help!

I made a new attempt based on your suggestions:

Well, scaling is one of the reasons why I dropped the first one. It is constructed quite mathematically so the proportions should be correct. Now if you compare the door in the back and the window in the front there is a huge difference in size and the character would not look nice with that amount scaling that would be necessary to fit the background.

Changing the shape of the bar is a good idea, maybe I can make the old one less boring this way. However, there is still the scaling problem.

Hi!

I need some help on a background and especially on the perspective. I want to get it right before I start coloring and adding details.

This is the current version of an irish pub:

Just for info, this is the old version (I think the perspective is quite boring and the door has to be on the bottom end because I already have finished the background with the outside view)

Any suggestions?

Hi!

I like it, nice style. However, i'm not sure about the outlines, they look sloppy. Did you resize the picture? Because the pixel are not clearly visible. Could you post the picture in the original size (or only a detail if the full image is too large)? I would like to show you how you can improve your outlines.
