Slasher: We're playing again to see if Edward is able to

turn completely leading to a different path

. Loved the action element, it seemed to be just right.  ;-D

I loved playing as an evil wizard (the psychedelic sequence was priceless) and collecting ghoul heads (would like to replay that one to see if the game changes if you are 'turned').

JackPutter: what are you using to do the 3D sequences?

Anyway, awesome stuff.  ;-D Looking forward to November, named for my favourite weather.

Hiya, everyone -

I have an object in one room that is animating perfectly well with the following code:

Code: ags

function room_Load()
{
oCat.SetView(3);
oCat.Animate(0, 3, eRepeat, eNoBlock);
}

In another, no animation occurs. Same code, with the View and Object IDs changed accordingly, as well as a different delay (the Torches animation is meant to be faster).

Code: ags

function room_Load()
{
oTorches.SetView(4);
oTorches.Animate(0, 2, eRepeat, eNoBlock);
}

I've rechecked everything dozens of times with no change. Is there something simple I'm missing? Is this a bad way to code an object animation? BTW, there are no conflicting objects, nothing overlaps, no hotspots, walkable areas, nothing else there.

Thanks a million in advance.

Olleh19--wow, beautiful (I trust the nuke is used only for food)! Super impressive!  ;-D

Looking forward to playing these titles tonight and tomorrow. Congrats, everyone.

Happily, I got further than I ever have with an AGS game. Committed the unforgivable sin 'visuals before gameplay'. But even in its incomplete state the game is uploaded; if anyone wants the mediafire link let me know.  :-D

*scrolling back through posts* Loads of good looking entries (I loved the video, btw, it's got lovely, creepy atmosphere and a unique look. And it gave me some insight into the way my character has been moving!).  ;-D

Vampirewombat--I feel for you. You and I have both had a go at a few of the same MAGS (February 'Frozen', which is a project I expanded and definitely plan to finish, and then September or August, just did a couple of backgrounds and had a concept).

Talking of vampires: looking forward to your entry Slasher.  (nod)

Wow, KyriakosCH--I like the feel of the graphics, can't wait to see the video.

Welp, I've been in since the 4th... didn't want to say anything until I felt I'd made significant progress (and I say I'm not superstitious  ;)).

I love the theme and it's perfect for a character and concept I've had bouncing around in my skull for years.

Thank you for the advice, @stupot, 'make a tiny game and cut it in half!'. Scope creep is my nemesis.

All the best of 'luck', everyone!  ;-D
Wise words.... I am looking forward to a game from you  (nod)

Heya Slasher! Thank you a million times over!  ;-D ;-D ;-D

This is such a lovely, broad theme. I encourage anyone who's dipped their toes in to keep going, whether they want to participate in MAGS or not.

It's super nice that the AGS community remains so active. I've been lurking and 'failing' here since 2014 at least.

Very excited to actually put something out there! All the best, everyone!  ;-D

Maybe! I have an idea and could actually complete a side project now that I've got an established routine. Would aim to be done within two weeks.

VampireWombat: what's your main focus (story, art, coding)? Did you wind up settling on the kid detective?

Amazing stuff, everyone. Back a-lurking I go!   ;-D

Hints & Tips / Phone for note
Sun 15/03/2020 09:14:23
This is such a fun, unique, and super-detailed game! I'm loving it!

Stuck here, though:
Spoiler
there's a phone number on one of the notes with letters crossed out
[close]
but neither the nurse's nor the director's phones are hotspots. Can't talk to the nurse and the director just keeps repeating the same dialogue.

Am I missing anything?

Thanks in advance--I can't wait to play more tomorrow.

Hey folks,

I'm going to have to pull out. Lost a bunch of days due to having a cold, and found out some bad family news today so the wind is out of my sails. I might release the project eventually once I get in the right mindset again.

Best of luck to all.

Gah. I'm sorry to hear that. May your world right itself very soon. When things are going better I hope you'll consider finishing and uploading if you're still into it.

We'll likely not be making the deadline either (didn't check MAGS until 14 Feb, haven't used AGS in a few years).

Definitely best of luck to all--looking forward to seeing the games.  :)

Heads up. I'm likely to be quite busy on the 1st and 2nd of February, so I guess you can consider this a two-day extension (whether you need it or not).

:P Ahhh. This is a bit of a relief! So due 1 March or 29 February...?

Awesome theme!

Good luck to everyone, here's to hoping you'll wish me the same. This is my first (....)

Yeah, partners can be a heavy influence with ideas/storylines.... If would be great to see your game in this MAG.. You can always build a bigger game for general release after...

MAG is ideal for a first game and I would love to see you enter and you don't need a zillion rooms  (nod)

Thanks!  :-D

Yes, kill your darlings and all that... then resurrect them later.  ;) Scope creep is such a temptress. Yours is looking great and your rapid progress is inspiring!

Awesome theme!

Good luck to everyone, here's to hoping you'll wish me the same. This is my first attempt at submitting a game to the database at all.

Story is sorted, rooms are in, half of the characters are drawn. My partner came up with a twist that made it impossible for me to not finally enter MAGS (and he's doing the music).

Thinking about voices now. An older, nasal southern American male maybe is all that's missing? And possibly someone who can do a fair impression of Terry Ingram from 'Overclocked: A History of Violence'.

Whether or not we finish on time is TBD, it's just fun to get something going as a side project that will see the light of day.  8-)

Awesome so far, :-D haven't found any bugs, just couple of things I've found puzzling, one of which has been addressed. Talking of confusing, my uber-slow delivery as Cassie is being corrected by a re-recording. Many apologies! 8-0 Advice: don't read extra slowly if you're on a muscle relaxant.

All the best,

Xan

Hiya, Starbuck (CaptainD)! :-D

It looks brilliant, Sandra. Fabulous grasp on cinematics, IMO!

Hopefully this is appropriate here: your enty in the recent AGS activity regarding underground facilities blew my mind.

On the brightish side though, it sounds like he had a great time in his life:

"In my case, 'Battlestar Galactica' was a milestone," he wrote on his personal website. "It afforded me the opportunity to live out my childhood dreams and fantasies. Hurtling through space with reckless abandon, playing the dashing hero, battling Cylons, monsters and super-villains -- what more could a man want?"

Thx (from a lurker and voice) for posting the quotation, Mandle. It's awesome when performers are able to live their dreams and childhood fantasies.

Heya, CaptainD/Starbuck!   :-D

Cassiebsg: if you'd like another beta-tester, I'm open. And not corny at all IMO; a dedication would be great.  :)

Hullo, there--

Are you still looking for any female voices? My apologies for not PMing you some samples last month, a tonne of stuff came up (including a funeral and the flu, the latter of which I haven't had to endure in years). I'd still love to help. Am doing a voice for another game right now, but am in charge of my schedule so definitely have the time. :)

All the best to you and yours,

Xan
