That looks great, selmiak.  Lots of nice little details.  I love the "HOME" sign!

abstauber, that looks so good.  It really fits with the style and theme, and allows for realistic options for movement and interaction.  The only thing I would gripe about is that the door on the bottom may not be readable to all, and could be misinterpreted.

Great job, though.  I love it.

Congratulations!

Well done, everyone.  This was a fun one.

Nearly a year since I quit.  Last time I made it 2 years, then was back smoking for 5 or so.  I'm hoping it sticks this time, but I could really go for a smoke right now.

Not a bad title at all.  For some reason I keep wanting to insert an "R" into it, Dysmatron.  Still, I like it.  It's original.

Most beers taste better than a Budweiser!

I like the 1x1 style better.  I just think it looks better.  And even if all the dithering isn't "Sierra accurate" it looks great.  I'd focus on making the best looking game in that resolution rather than trying to perfectly mimic a style, but that would be my choice.  If your choice is different, so be it.

Also, welcome to the forums!  Good luck with your game.  I'd totally play a game about either Conan, to be honest.

So I'm having the angry-ass Foster's tonight, a beer which ---if you will indulge me for a moment-- I'd like to comment on.

It's so easy to turn your nose up at Foster's. It's light. It's watery. It's a pop culture beer. However, for several years I have to indeed admit that anytime I'm not really looking for a new experience or a dialogue or a surprise of any sort, Foster's has been there as a go-to lager. Its flavour couldn't be more normal, and maybe this is why it defaults into a good plumb line for all other beers. Foster's is not crap. It's also not great. It's meh. And meh is a very powerful place to be.

So cheers to Foster's. Cheers to mediocracy.

That's largely how I feel about the beer from my home, Labatt Blue.  I enjoy it, but it's nothing special by any means, and it's a great beer after a game of hockey.

My go-to beer recently is something simple as well.  My brother and I enjoy a Yuengling or 3 when we see each other on weekends.  Nothing fancy.  He usually starts with a high alcohol content double IPA of some sort, but I'm not into that.  I'm not much of a beer snob, but I like beer that tastes like beer, usually a simple lager.

Those videos are wonderful.  I can't wait to play the game so I can make more sense out of what I am seeing!

Thanks Cassie :) and awesome tip, I really appreciate your feedback 8-)
Thanks dactylopus!

I actually created the whole scene with the character being transparent. But the moving static pixels looked dull with the dark background :-\
Here's a comparison with different transparencies. I was going to keep the 30% but stayed with fully opaque.

Now I may remake the sprites transparent except for the white pixels (roll)
You're very welcome.  I like the looks of the transparency, but can see why you decided not to.  The idea of only adding transparency to either the blue or the white pixels would probably look much better then either fully opaque or fully translucent.  Really interesting to see the images of how the concept progressed.  Also, I wanted to say earlier but did not, I really like the way the hexagonal tiles work in the animation.  Very inventive, and very cool.

That force looks lethal enough to me.  Unless those are rubber bullets...

That looks so cool! (nod)
Have you thought of maybe giving him some small alpha-transparency for a total ethereal feel? ;)
I agree, an element of transparency / translucency would be a nice touch.

It looks awesome though, either way.  I'm sure it will make for some very interesting gameplay.

Concept: Blondbraid - I love the idea of gunfighting a three-headed Aztec tamarin, and what more beautiful location for such a battle than between two waterfalls.  For a cobbling together of random photographs, a style I'm normally averse to, this came out surprisingly well.
Playability: lorenzo - I can imagine the spiked pillar was stopped by pulling the lever.  I can also imagine that an inventory item (or 2) helped to cross the snake pit, and that the sarcophagus was opened to reveal the villainous Mummy.  Great execution as well, this is a very appealing image.  With some more time, perhaps the flames could have been animated, pushing this into another level.
Artistic Execution: Misj' - This is beautiful, and so full of detail.  I love this take on a classic illustration style.  That said, I'd normally prefer a background without characters for a Background Blitz, and without the characters this is just a random part of a forest, but I'm such a fan of this style and this is wonderfully executed.

Well done, everyone!  Glad to see a good number of participants.

I have updated the screenshots on the first page with the new sprites.
They look so good!  This game went from a maybe yes to a solid yes in an instant.

Oh, that was smoke!  I had assumed it was something else, more related to the situation at hand.  Nice animations all around, Anas!
