I have created a nice BitTorrent tracker on http://americangirlscouts.org/torrents, called c|_|.torrent.
You can upload your games there. Use agsuploads (currently broken) or 2dadventure.com for other stuff like screenshots. There's no limit in filesize or downloads.

What is this bittorrent all about anyway? How do I get the files?
Check out Brian's BitTorrent FAQ and Guide.

Some rules:

  • Give your Torrents proper names (as "Filename", i will fix it to say "Game name" soon). lolgame!!11 isn't good enough, sorry.
  • Add the Game's description in the appropriate field, preferably with a screenshot. Link images by clicking the button or by typing [.img]http://your_image_goes_here[./img] minus the periods.
  • Wait until your game is uploaded to at least one other person. Or just
  • Seed as long as possible to help distributing the games
and very important:
AGS games or related stuff only. All illegal files will be removed and the uploader will earn a warning or a ban.

I've also set the server to get every uploaded game and store it, so everything will always be available. But only in case you seeded long enough :)

Now, happy sharing.

why the fuck are some mods just deleting posts, without further note, why they did so?`

apparently happened to layabout. (see this thread)
and some time ago to me (see here). my post was deleted because i had an other opinion about a processor brand than a mod.

still got the backup. and i will keep one for this thread. and: i will repeat posting this thread when it's gonna get deleted. and it sure is.

at least you mods should have enough guts to tell us why you were deleting stuff. and: don't just delete because our opinion differs from yours! you shouldnt be mod, when you can't distinguish between personal differences and your job, which should be moderating this stuff, not deleting random posts.  :-X

General Discussion / ags ftp-server
Sat 31/07/2004 11:28:39
as mentioned in this thread i have a ftp-server running.

my upload = your download = 32 kB/s max.

ftp://hx.bounceme.net

anonymous user only can list/download,
logged in users can upload.

user: ags
pass: stuff

server should be online 24/7, but don't get angry if it isn't - it stands in my living room (where my couch is), and some of my friends tend to sleep here when they are in town and too drunk to get back ;)

General Discussion / website banners needed
Fri 04/06/2004 21:30:30
do you know of any good pay-per-impression affiliate programs?
a part of my website gets 120 views per day.. and that causes me about 120mb traffic/day (photos).

'lo..
this one is aimed at the ones who speak spanish .

i'm seriously needing help with a spanish fairy tale (cuento popular) for school.
the name is "la niña sin brazo", i can't find anything on the net..  :-\

maybe it's not even spanish but argentinian.
please tell me anything you know about that story. if you know it.
if you don't know it - don't mind this thread ;)

thanks guys!

'lo.

it came to my mind some days ago, but then i forgot about it again.
but this thread magically brought the thought back.

is there a way to give the engine the capability to compress/decompress files using tar and gzip? and does the license of gzip and tar allow that?

i've looked into a 1,2mb savegame using a hexeditor. pretty much 01 and 00 in there. then i  compressed it with winrar, resulting file was 4 kb.  (i know, rar is not tar.gz ;))

so i think it would be a good idea to compress the savegames and/or datafiles directly with the engine.
thanks for your patience

damn..
my pc just rejects to work with firefox and icq.
outlook and ie work fine.   :-\

when i try to load a page with firefox an error message appears, like:
"the connection was refused when attempting to contact www.mozilla.org"

icq says i should connect to the internet..

you've got any ideas?

General Discussion / midi file request
Wed 25/02/2004 17:38:18
hi you. yes you!
can you create midi files? yes?
ok, that's fine. are you willing to make one for me?
what you get? umm, very much.. my respect  ;)

okay, i am in the need for a cool ringtone, so i thougt about a heartbeat. and since my phone accepts midi-files it would be nice if i could get my fingers on a midi-heartbeat.

haven't found anything on the net.. i suppose i'm the only one who wants his phone to sound like a heart..

anyways, the heartbeat should be at normal speed, i don't want to sound like i'm suffering some kind of .. .oO(i don't know the word in english ) 8)

it would be really really nice if anyone of you could make me that sound.
only restriction: everything in one channel or another (mute) channel which contains info on the vibrations.

thanks in advance,
a guy who lacks the knowledge how to create midi-files ;D

So,  this actually is not my own idea.. i've seen similar threads in some german forums.
but anyway, it's fun.
and very interesting to see what music others are listening to.
(oh, i'm such a nosey person ;D)

if you don't think so or this has already come up and did not work: just ignore this thread.
then i really have a reason for being depressed ;)
.oO(hmm.. i'm not really depressed. maybe later 8))

i'm missing the feature to create more than one region at one place.
or is there any way to create 2 regions which interfere each other?
or is there any other way of creating an effect like in sam'n'max:
you have 2 different lightning values in a room, you can switch the light off and you can switch an other light on. these lightning-thingys overlap each other.
