I am using your new version of the editor.
I like it alot.  Especially the inclusion of the sound and music directoies right in the editor, very helpful and speeds things up.
Not a complaint, but the character showing up in room edit isn't very useful yet.  But it is nice to see where the character is in the room without running the game.
Good work.

I did notice that you removed the play music on load tab from the room area.

I have been playing adventure games since they first began. 54 years old.
First Sierra sold out and the new management dropped adventure games.
Than Lucas Arts decided to change to keyboard movement.
Than we had to wait for smaller companies infrequent releases.  Thank God for The Longest Journey!
I like AGS and am using it for my game "Danse Macabre."

The problem with Grey Matter is not Jane Jensen
An executive who has an overbearing personality, thought that it was better his way.
He interfered and delays occured to institute his changes.
Jane has made some of the best all-time adventure games.  All he managed to do is cut into the profits by requiring extra work.

Sorry my internet has been spotty lately.
I solved it.  I changed the wrong directory.  When I moved the music to the right directory, it worked fine.
Thanks everyone.

Would it be possible for someone to send me a sample room script for a game.  A room script would give me info on how to properly do a script.  I am sure I am doing things in a stilted way in my game "Danse Macabe."
Thanks to anyone who responds.

Thank you. This solved the problem.

I am using a Dell Inspiron dual core notebook.  It is running Windows 7 64-bit.  AGS seems to run fine.  I have the IDT high definition audio device.
I put the midi file into the Music directory in the documents directory in the folder of my game. I renamed it Music1.mid.
I used the playmusiconroomload and put in 1.
I start the game up and music is not being played.
I did a search of the forums for "music not playing."
I found some posts that windows media player needed to be open for some other people for the music to be heard.  I opened media player and no song was playing.
I could not find any settings for midi files in the media player settings. Nor, in the IDT settings.
Please help!

Thanks for the help Matti.
I am slowly figuring out the scripting.  Pointing me to the event button really helped.  Being new to all this, I just didn't understand even how to start doing scripting.
I am making good progress now.  I even got my dog character to follow the main playing character automatically.
Now I need to learn how to do the dialogs, music and sound.
If I want to ask for help for making all the dog character views (drawing them, front, back, sides), which forum do I do that.  Meaning getting someone to point me to maybe an already done dog character.

I will go elsewhere.  I don't need to be made fun of.

Heres the script:

cMuffy.FollowCharacter(cDanny);
#412
I put it in the room script of room1 called forest walk.
#413
The command was exactly as I wrote it.
Here is the error message:

Message                                                          room  room1.asc                                      line 2

Failed to save room1.crm; details below
Error (line 2): parse error; unexpected 'cMuffy'

I don't know what your guess said.  I am new to scripting.

I add the following script to the room script and I get an error message.
cMuffy.FollowCharacter(cDanny);
It says unexpected error with cMuffy.
Muffy is a dog who I want to follow Danny most of the time except when I script to make her save the day.

After I edited the character sprite to make it taller, when I run the game, the pink shows around the character in game.
How do I get rid of the pink?

I am making a game starring my deer head chihuahua Muffy.
3 characters, Danny (AGS stock sprite of rodger), Muffy and a vicious wolf.
I am using photos for Muffy and the Wolf as sprites.  The room backgrounds are photos of various senic places, such as bridges, the Alamo, train tracks, the desert.
Story line is Danny and Muffy are out walking and run into the Wolf.  Muffy and the Wolf can both talk.  The wolf harrasses Danny and Muffy through various rooms.
When the wolf gets serious Muffy, manages to kill the Wolf and save Danny just using her brain by tricking the wolf.
It will probably take 6 months because I have to learn everything. It will be tough scripting and learning to animate Muffy and the wolf.
I have already obtained Music and sound effects.
I have the characters done, rooms established, with edges, walkable areas and walk behind areas.
Now onto making the gameplay.

How do I reassign the picture?

My main character is a Chihuahua. That is called cEgo.  The cChar1 character is a wolf.  The openning scene has both characters onscreen.
The problem I have is the wolf is showing up as the chihuahua.
So I have 2 chihuahua's on screen.
How do I get the wolf sprites to show up on screen?
The wolf will not move, but will talk to the main character.

I have my 7 rooms loaded.  Editing room 1, I put in the edges, then walkable areas would not let me put in the areas.  Line draw and fill do not work. I can put in one line but when I release the mouse button it disappears.  Pressing fill and touching the middle of area does not work either.

I am making a game where the main character is a photo of a dog.  I have the 4 views for the dog, but how do I get the pictures into the editor?
