Has anyone heard of or played this game? I can't get anywhere because I can't seem to use anything in inventory. When I try to use say the ladder on the high window or door, nothing happens even though I am following the directions given for the game. Any ideas, hints? This is quite frustrating.

Just open the toolbox and get the wrench then go to the kitchen and press the ladder on the wall below the vent then press the wrench on the vent. Then vent should come off.

Oops where did you find the ladder?

Does anyone know if the problem with this game were fixed? I did a search and checked the forums for the updates and it looks like the last post was in June of 2004. I can't seem to download it from the AGS game board either. Both the link and the mirror just gives me a error message

Joyce, i have Microsoft Internet Explorer as my browser and when I click on the above link, I get an error message that says the page can not be found? I'm stuck on Tim and the TV. What do i use on him?

The bones come from digging up Cubert the First's grave. I think you might get the money there too, I can't remember. To get past that guy, you have to put the trash can on his head, and something else to sort of tie him up or something. I can't exactly remember. Just try using all your items on him.

Goot, I got the money and the cube now but still can't figure out how to get past the old guy. I used everything on him to no avail. The only rope I have is the one with the hook and I can't retrieve it from the tower.

I played that game over a year ago. It has a very hard and unintuitive interface. It's keyboard only. I eventually got it (was really hard). Don't remember it precisely but I think you can use first letters of the actions like L for LOOK, U for USE. Cursors and space may be crucial for pointing and confirmation. Even though I still got stuck in one place simply because I had to use two items with each other and I didn't know how to achieve that. Other than that the game's quite fun. If you like it, I recommend Prisoner of Ice (which also is not to achieve in full version legally). It's sequel of Shadow of the Comet and it's interface is much better (mouse at last!Ã,  ).

You understand that this is just a demo yeah? At least its the only one I know about. The following is the address for the creators website. Aftering going there, go to games and scroll down near the bottom and click on demo link. The you can unzip the file. I hope this is what you were looking for 8)

Stuck in this game and not sure how to use the interface either. Can anyone help. (he starts out with a lot of items in his inventory but doesn't seem to be able to pick up items to use with others. I can't even get into the house or got to the right without a guide.

You get the stuff from the Simpson's garage. Just keep interacting with the trash and you'll get something knew each time. And there's a spider that you can get from a web too.

Except I didn't get the bones or the money. I did use the spider on the rat in the tower after combining the hook and the rope.

Goot, I don't think Winzip support's "ace" formats, so you may need to get another utility to allow you to uncompress it. A goot free utility (it's one that I use) that supports most common compression formats is IZarc: http://www.izsoft.dir.bg/izarc.htm
Once you uncompress the file that is in "ace" format, put all of the files together in the same folder.

Skio: I played it for a little while, looks interesting so far. Ã, Only a few minor things that I think could be improved on such as correcting the odd spelling mistake, or adding mouse-activated GUI's (such as inventory) rather than needing to hunt down the right keys during game play. Ã, Still, overall, you've done a good job. Congrats on your first game!

Okay, I'm going to try your  http://www.izsoft.dir.bg/izarc.htm as a way to try and unzip these files so I can play the game. For some reason when I try to use Winace to unzip them, something is missing. I imagine I click on the hyperlink named IZFavorites.exe right once I get to the izsoft webpage ?

I downloaded but when I run the .ace file, nothing happens. I have downloaded all 6 files to the same directory, and I've tried opening the .ace file with winzip, after it wouldn't open by itself. (That didn't work.) What's the problem here?Ã, 

I know its been awhile but did you ever get your problems solved because I cannot even use the winace to open these winace files, the program that was used to condense them. I keep getting: Please insert disk or enter directory. I even tried unzipping it from the designers webpage but the same thing happens. Totally frustrating

The logical thing would be to go into the bathroom and try something there but I can't seem to open the door even though the hand icon is highlighted, (turns red). This has me a little stumped

Your game looks cool and got some good review so i thought I would go right to the source. I downloaded the winace zip file off of the AGS game page and the problem I am haivng is when I try to extract it to the directory. (game folder) This window pos up: "Please insert disk or enter directory" with an option OK or CANCEL key. When I hit OK, I get this:
"Can't open or read archive." The moderator at AGS suggested that I try to download it from you webpage as I might be missing a file but I don't seem to be getting anywhere. Help please???

How do you turn off the water in the basement?

Hello, I did a search first to see if this problem had been addressed or solved alredy and did not pull up any previous posts about this game. After downloading this game from your website and unzipping the file using Winace, it looked like everything was fine until after I tried to extract it. It loaded about 56% of the file, then this window pops up:
"Please inserst disk or enter directory" (Inside the window in the hightlighted section of blue is this:
settings/owner/desktop/fortressofwonders.c00)
with an iption to chose the ok or cancel button. If I hit the okay button I get an error message with a big red X: Can't open or read archive. If I hit cancel, it just closes the extract window completely. Can anyone help please?

You need to take the ornament to the old man in the cabin - Use the Multi Tool to open the door, if you haven't done so already. Then give the ornament to the old man.

It's not just GIF files- you can also use PNG or JPG.

And the picture just has to be on a website somewhere- but probably not a free site like geocities or tripod, because they won't let you hot link (access a file without going to the website).

Okay, can you maybe provide me with the address of a place where I might look at and choose downloadable jpegs or gifs that are not too large. (I've always had trouble with downloading one of these and it being way too large)

While you're logged in, click on the "profile" link at the top of any page.

Then, on the left side of the page, under "Modify your profile," click "forum profile information." From there you can add an avatar (the little picture), a signature, and all sorts of other good stuff.

In order to add an avatar, you need to have a picture no larger than 60x60 uploaded somewhere that allows hotlinking, like image shack or photo bucket. Just put the URL for said picture in the "I have my own pic" box, click change profile and you're good!

So they only allow gifs is that you can download from your webpage?
