Press Release â€" 10th of May 2005

BILL TILLER CREATES BACKGROUNDS FOR 'THE EXCHANGE STUDENT'

Magixoft would like to announce that Bill Tiller, known for his excellent work on legendary titles such as The Curse of the Monkey Island and The Dig, will be creating backgrounds for the upcoming comedy adventure for mobile phones, The Exchange Student. The story of the game is written by Dimitris Manos, the editor of the monthly PDF magazine The Inventory and the European website for adventure games, Adventure Europe.

The story of The Exchange Student is about Emilio, a 22 y.o. Italian student who has never had a girlfriend in his entire life. His friend Vicenzo just came back from an exchange program in Sweden. Vicenzo was really satisfied with the program since he met a lot of very attractive ladies. Emilio decides to follow his friend's path. He travels to Sweden to spend a semester there, studying in a city of Sweden called Västerås. Emilio will be constantly hitting on girls without any luck. During the exchange program he will also become friends with two Spanish guys Pedro and Miguel and a German guy called Mathias. The Spanish guys make up a 'points' game. In this game whenever one of them kisses or has sex with a girl, he gets a point. In the end of the exchange program they will all count the points to declare the lover of the year. The theme of the game is very much inspired by Al Lowe's Leisure Suit Larry series.

Magixoft is looking for an artist to create characters and animation for the game. Those interested should contact either Dimitris Manos (d.manos@adventure-eu.com) or Magixoft (quest@magixoft.com)

He also worked on EA's Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. Right now alongside several other ex-Lucasarts employees, he is working on a new point and click adventure game called A Vampyre Story

ABOUT MAGIXOFT: Magixoft is a Russian-based company creating games for a wide range of mobile phones. They have already released the titles Astro Quest and Magic's Quest 2 and their upcoming titles include The Exchange Student and The Orgastic Four.

Hello everybody,

I should let you know what is up with Adventure Europe. Our servers are located in the US and our hosting company in Greece. Yesterday some file system on our server got corrupt and the guys in the US said they're fixing it. So we expect to be back online today (hopefully). And when we do you will be able to read more previews of FoY in several languages. (The preview contents will be different as well, as each writer of the localized websites will be writing their own preview).

Magixoft is a company developing adventure games for mobile phones. Those games are sold then online, through Handango and Nokia online stores. Magixoft is currently developing an adventure game called The Exchange Student. The story is written by the editor of The Inventory. We are currently looking for an artist to join our development team.

Graphics Style
The style of graphics we plan to use in the game is hand drawn cartoon graphics. Due to the fact that the game will be played in mobile phones, there are some limitations we have to think about when making the graphics. The screen size will be 208x176 and there will be 4096 colours.

The game's story:
The story is very much inspired by games like Al Lowe's Leisure Suit Larry Series and the cartoon series Johnny Bravo. Emilio is a 22 y.o. Italian student who has never had a girlfriend in his entire life. His friend Vicenzo, just came back from an exchange programme in Sweden. Vicenzo was really satisfied with the programme, he had lots of fun in Sweden and he met lots of girls. Emilio decides to follow his friend's path. He travels to Sweden to spend a semester there, studying in a city of Sweden called Västerås. Emilio will be constantly hitting on girls all the time and he will be striking out each and every time. During the exchange program he will also become friends with some Spanish guys and another German guy. The Spanish guys make up a 'points' game. In this game whenever one of them kisses or has sex with a girl, he gets a point. In the end of the exchange program they will all count the points to declare the lover of the year.

Applicants
Salary will be given in the form of commission. Those interested please write an email to either Dimitris Manos at d.manos@theinventory.org or to Magixoft directly at quest@magixoft.com . Please make sure to either provide us with a link to your online portfolio or to provide us with examples of your work.

For some (unknown to us) reason those who use firefox have to right click within the issues frame and click on 'reload' or 'refresh' or whatever option firefox has there, I can't really remember cause I uninstalled this junk of a browser some time after I installed it. It's slow, full of bugs and I don't plan to use it because some US defense ministry report said so. But for those unfortunate enough to still be using firefox, here is the direct link for the issue:

http://www.theinventory.org/the.inventory.english/TheInventory.Issue.23.zip

If you're not using Firefox but some other browser and you're still having difficulties with seeing the issue, excuse my mini-rant on Firefox, I'm just really tired of this 'get firefox' propaganda. On a different note, thanks Mods and Steve for the good words.Ã,  @ SSH....hmmm don't know how I missed that. Let's all consider it an April's fool joke, shall we?Ã,  :-X

Edit: Oh and Zor I'm not saying that you are being wrong for using Firefox or anyone else who uses it, my rant is against the firefox propaganda-makers. There are loads of other browsers that are much better than firefox, I'd suggest everyone should give them a try.
