I'm wondering who here has seen the anime known as "Saint Seiya" but in the west known as "Les Chevaliers du Zodiaque", "Los Caballeros del Zodiaco", "Os Cavaleiros do Zodiaco" or "I Cavalieri dello Zodiaco" (Knights of the Zodiac in English, fool! :P)

And if so, have you heard about the new Hades episodes and so forth? I just wanna know how much people are/ere into it :)

---

I used to watch it back when I moved to the US. I'm pretty sure that I saw at least 95% of the episodes even tho I don't remember much about the later ones because I saw them once while they kept reruning the older ones quite a bit. They're finally bringing the show to the us, and they'll premiere it in August on Cartoon Network. I can't wait to see it even tho I'm sure they'll super edit it to make it safe for american tv. bah!

Has anyone successfully made a TTF font with a TTF outline that works on ags just fine? I know that the LucasFont worked a while ago, but it doesn't anymore. I haven't tried to do it again, tho. and if you have, what's the way to create the outline font?

Poor mixnmojo, adventuredevelopers, and adventuregamers (and others too!).

Anyway, I'm prepared this year, so I've moved my site to http://netmonkey.cellosoft.com/

I guess if anyone else who's hosted on AD (actually I was hosted by mixnmojo) wants to post any site movings, reply to this thread!

Hey, I posted something on the Full Throttle 2 post about adventure games. Let me restate it with some improvements:

Recently, I bought Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, and I noticed that on IGN they categorize the game as "third person adventure". Maybe they're right. the game is not much about action, but about skill and wit, and if you don't do it right you have to shoot and sometimes die, and isn't that what adventure is all about? of course you don't have to solve puzzles heavily or anything, but you still have to talk to people and find objects. it almost reminds me of Pleurghburg DA during those times you had to do the right thing (in other words, when you had to use your weapon ) I still think it's almost an action adventure, but it's totally different from Tomb Raider. Of course this type of action-adventure was invented a few years back with Metal Gear Solid (and they call MGS2 on IGN "ADVENTURE"?!!) or when it originally was invented for a little game called Alone in the Dark in 1992, which is one of the first games to use true 3d (i think). Notice that the alone in the dark polygon/pre-rendered background style was also used in Grim Fandago and EMI. Even Resident Evil is considered adventure since it's pretty Alone in the Dark style.

So, what is it in for adventure games? a lot of people call it dead, and others just transformed into the mindless action adventure tomb raider-ish genre, which isn't adventure game at all. So, I'm saying that adventure games need to evolve once again. Just like in 1988 when Ron Gilbert reinvented the adventure game ala LEC and with a Point + Click interface, the new 3d adventures need to change to survive.

I guess I want others to give their thoughts and to say what they think about the future of this. Obviously, companies have to leave the 90s point and click style, and come up with something new and fresh that  would still be recognized as an adventure game. The question is how to still blend in puzzles and character interaction with 3d technologies and not make it so linear and and "boring" but still keep the elements of a graphic adventure?

The current poll results at my site show that people are equally looking forward to both Run Hot and Granny Zombiekiller (or both of them)? But I'm pretty sure if you AGSers vote, it'll totally change the results. So, check it out.. the poll is on the left side of the main page (click on the MonkeyGames Entertainment Logo!)

Hey, since I made the RON gui, I just figured I updated it by making it a template and adding/changing a few things. I'm sure some of you tried a version I uploaded a while ago (in this very post) but now I added a couple of things after I asked for suggestions.

Anyway, here's some of the features so far:
* Custom Text Window (NEW!)
* Custom SAVE/LOAD dialogs (NEW!)
---
* Custom Inventory Window (based on the new custom inventory window available with AGS)
* More eye candy
* Mouse wheel support
* Already-programmed ron sign intro screen

Here's a couple of questions:

First of all, what kind of default clever "Are you sure you want to quit?" question should I put there (it just says "Quitting?" right now  :-\). Just summit your ideas by replying to this post.

Number two, who should the default character be? Roger or... I'm guessing Davy Jones, since he's kind of the template for the rest of the RON characters. You decide! :P

It's done! The final versions of Rob Blanc I, II, and III for Windows are now available. There's also a package that has the three games in one download.

Also, forget http://www.geocities.com/~yahtzee83/. The new Rob Blanc Trilogy site is http://monkeygames.minxmojo.com/robblanc/ , so go there and download the games!

Finally, if you want to check out the changes from the original versions that came out back in the day, check out the little changes text file I made at http://monkeygames.mixnmojo.com/robblanc/changes.txt

That's it! Enjoy.

Thank you to those who told me about the bugs on the Windows betas.

--- Original Post ---

Thanks to CJ and the permission of Yahtzee, I'm finally able to release Yahtzee's Rob Blanc on Windows EXEs. Why me? Well, after yahtzee left and all, I became responsible for Rob Blanc since MonkeyGames was the "publisher" for the games. And then of course as more people are switching to the goodness of 2000/XP, the dos versions of the games are becoming less and less compatible.

Anyway, due to changes in the different versions of ags, (these games were made with AGS 2.07 or so and the win exes are compiled from 2.4b) I need people to test the games before I announce it to the rest of the world. I've already found some glitches and fixed them, but there may be more...

You can download Rob Blanc I + II from here: (rb III WIN will be available sometime this week)
http://monkeygames.mixnmojo.com/downloads/rb12.zip
and RBIII:
http://monkeygames.mixnmojo.com/downloads/rb3w.zip

Please, if you see any glitches/bugs in the game, respond to this thread. For the walkthru, check the MonkeyGames website under the "Hints" section.
