General Discussion / Re: Sho-Ryu-Ken corp blog

That's only because your mind has been damned by a supreme being. It's just a standard blogspot site.  :=

I just heard the semi-end result of this on Attack of the Show... Apparently, Turner paid 2 million dollars - one to recoup the 3/4 million dollars Boston shelled out for reasons unknown and another million for all the trouble it caused the city (even though the people who were really troubled by this, such as the people who sat in stopped in traffic all day and couldn't make it to work or the hospital will never see a cent of it). And, the two guys responsible for the Boston thing are still being held pending judgment.

Only three talkies in the history of games have been worth it: Quest for Glory 4, Star Trek 25th Anniversary Edition (and Judgment Rights... thx Progzy!) and Snatcher, which wasn't even a point-'n'-click.

This is just a quick paintover. I made my arm a little beefier than yours, but I grew up playing Street Fighter II where everyone had disproportionately large muscles.  I don't think the size of the head/body is wrong, since this is more cartoony and doesn't seem to be intended for actual realistic human proportions and anatomy.

The main problem to my eye was simply the extension of his right (our left) shoulder. The other arm could also be brought in a bit closer, as right now it seems like it's sewn on similarly to Kermit the Frog's. (EDIT: I just pulled the ribs back a bit to fix this, but I'd already put my Wacom away so it was done with my laptop's touchpad). I also screwed around with the vest a bit so it's a little less of a wraparound.

EDIT AGAIN: I'm not going to try to fix this one, but... it seems like his right (our left) collar is sticking way too far out to the side, which is totally encompassing his shoulders.

Tell that to Tuomas...

:-\ hmm. It's funny I've never met Matt or Domino. We seem to frequent the same places.

My guilty pleasures are certain shows and anime. I change the channel whenever someone walks in on me watching Witch Hunter Robin, Fullmetal Alchemist, Hellsing, Rurouni Kenshin, or Star Trek Voyager as though I were watching some kind of Japanese scat fetish porn.

QuoteThese are the Tech Demo's graphics, you can see I did them, 'cos they suck

You might want to edit this out of your initial post now that you've updated the graphics a bit. There's no better way to turn people off of your game than to tell them parts of it suck.

I'm really interested in this, and I'd like to see how mech combat will work, not to mention everything else.

It's a freedom not everyone wants to take advantage of, but the people who don't want to exercise their freedom in that particular way aren't free to do so.

Jamestown, the first successful colony, was founded in 1607. That's exactly 400 years. America existed as a body ruled by the colonials but under the crown until the war in 1775, and we adopted the declaration of independence upon our completion of said conflict in 1776. The Constitution was ratified in 1789. Just because we weren't independent from Britain until 1776 doesn't mean we weren't a country in 1607. We didn't magically appear here in 1776, having won the revolution and grown into a fully self-supporting country.

Ohhh, you missed the best part...

"Come see the violence inherent in the system! Look, I'm being repressed!"

:D I like that one.

@Rui: It's one of the shades of blue... light blue, I might add. There's not a single pixel of black in my image.
#153
That's a good idea... draw on top of it and see how that comes out. If nothing else, it would make perspective loads easier.

BTW: I know of a few people who use this. Personally, I use Caligari TrueSpace, but I'd be interested to know how easy this is to use.

I kinda had the feeling that everyone would do Tim. Are there any other characters in QftHG?

EDIT: I'm kind of at a disadvantage... I didn't know I could use black in the sprite.
#155
Then how did you...

...wait, no. That would be mean.

I have many names. But you may call me....

....Tim?

I'm not the best sprite artist, but I had to submit the only real superhero, IMHO. 9 colors + transparency

Best of both worlds. Very nice.

And thank YOU ever so much, DG, for taking the time out of your busy schedule to go through that man's gay pictures and put them one by one on AGS for our perusal... I can die fulfilled now that I have seen Jason Freakin' Baca's (isn't that Japanese for dumbass?) pointy buttcheeks sitting on the moon.

"A-would you like to swing on a star..."

EDIT @ Hyde: If you think about it, it wasn't the "I hear he's popular with the ladies" statement that was "wrong on so many levels." It's the fact that a picture of a dong-faced man is addressed to me...

See? Just get rid of the muzzle, and it makes him look a lot better. You could probably make it look nicer than I can, but this is what you need to do if you want him to look like a teenager. Like I said before: the younger the character, the less detail in the face.  (EDIT: Ah... For the diagonal view, it just needs to come out a few pixels)

And as for the walkcycle: it isn't that I don't recognize the skill evident in its creation. I can't animate... especially not lo-res graphics (look at my game in progress: it's all hand drawn art. I can NOT do pixel art to save my life. It's a skill I both envy and admire). However, it is too far spread to either side. I can't even see what you did to repair it. Make the feet come straight out instead of going to the side. The way the arms swing now adds to it, but once you have the feet coming straight out instead of swaying and flaring out, it will look more like a gallant, purposeful stride than an ice rink maneuver.
