Cartoons for children. Compare any of the cartoons of the 80's to Spongedumbass Squarefuckwit, or Loonatiks, or My Gym Partner is a Monkey. Sure, the 90's introduced Animaniacs, Freakazoid, and Tiny Toons, but this was the turning point between cartoons for kids and cartoons for adults. The cartoons for kids in the 80's were great. The cartoons for young adults in the 90's were great. The cartoons for adults in the 2000's are great. The cartoons for kids since the 80's have progressively decreased in value, and the cartoons for kids today only go to prove that in another decade or children will have a collective IQ of 6.

I'm an Eastman and Laird purist. I refuse to watch this movie. I'm not such a purist when it comes to Transformers, and I am eagerly awaiting that. I wonder what's next! Voltron, Thundercats, G.I. Joe, Jem, Ducktales, MASK, or maybe Star Blazers? I hear there's a Speed Racer movie coming out soon, and a new Ghostbusters game. Are they going to ruin all my favorite 80's shows?

The fact remains that the 80's were the best era for cartoons in history. Saturday mornings nowadays are lineups designed for retards. You might as well just name everything "The Hurf Durf Show" and get it over with.

Seems a bit like a downdate. "Hey, esper, you have 10 messages, and 1 of them is new" has been changed to "10 messages," unless I highlight the black box. And I never had a search bar.

:D Your math skills are impeccable. 2008 is still only 3 years :P

Welcome back, nonetheless.  I take it from the facts that you wanted to make a text adventure, part of your post was written in third person dialogue, and your math skills suck about as much as cephalopagal pair of conjoined twin's survival skills that you are quite possibly a skilled wordsmith.

I have no idea what I would do in such a situation. I don't think any of us do. Any advice here would just seem trite or, in some cases, in bad taste, considering no one knows the end of this matter. But I think I speak for everyone when I say hope is a great ally in times of trouble.

Zhang Ziyi (Main female actress in every Chinese martial arts movie ever)

Chiaki Kuriyama (Gogo from Kill Bill, Chigusa from Battle Royale)

Li Man (Chan from Curse of the golden Flower)

And I used to think Julianne Moore was hot, even though she's in her 50's, just because red hair does strange things to me.

And I think that, for men who aren't gay, it's not so much "Wow! Tat guy's so much more handsome than me!" or "Dammit, I wish I looked  better than him!" or "Hey, there's a guy I'd like to run a few times around the block with," but more like a "If I were a Body Snatcher, that is the guy that I would use as my host." That's how I feel about George Clooney.

I don't think a game using premade comp entries would be any good. However, as soon as I read Nik's post, I thought of a new competition... like MAGS, only you can only use entries from the previous month's competitions.

If I didn't already know about the preexisting state of Microsoft's suckage, I would say that my problem is getting downright creepy. On those sites you linked (thanks, BTW) I came across four perfectly good, albeit entirely dissimilar, suggestions.

They all failed. Something is severely screwed up here. Oh well, I guess I can live with the clutter and the smaller screen. Hey, if I have to do that, I might just as well switch applications. Thanks anyways, all, but there's nothing you can do against pure crap.

Tried Neil's. I'll look into Chicky's. Anyone have any idea why everything else retains its settings as default when the frigging annotate toolbar reverts every time?

EDIT: Tried both for about 20 minutes. The customization settings revert to their current undesired default after the program is shut off, and all Chicky's idea did was make it pop up in the middle of the page next time I started Word. I temporarily fixed the problem by increasing my resolution so I could fit it on an already-existing toolbar, but now I have to work on what is an essentially an unfamiliar workspace, which isn't good when you work on a program so often.

Does anyone have any idea how to alter Word's configuration file???

Help me out. This is pissing me off severely.

Hoping to one day be an author with at least one of my books in every home in the country (OMPTIMISM IS FOR LOSERS!!!) I spend a good deal of time in Microsoft Word. I'd love to get into something else, but I'm so used to Word that I just can't adjust to the look and feel, however similar, of things like Lotus or OpenOffice or Works or any of the other commonly-used word processing applications available for Windows.

However, as is the case with all Microsoft-made products, four howler monkeys and a macaque of dubious parentage and unconventional eating habits created the program (I just accidentally typed "problem") by hurling their own feces at each other, and the code was then derived by a team of experts by staring at the aftermath of their Bowel Royale (see what I did there?). I'm hoping someone is on hand who knows how to translate said fecal matter turned code and can give me a hand with something, and possibly, in addition to giving me a hand in stopping it, could possibly explain why it's happening in the first place.

I normally have my Formatting and Word Count toolbars open, although I often open others and then close them as needed. However, a couple months ago, I opened the Annotate toolbar, and then closed it. Now, every time I open Word, it's open in it's own toolbar which I then have to close in order to give myself a nicely sized and comparatively uncluttered workspace.

How do I get rid of it for good, and what is the reason it tortures me so? I know it sounds petty, but after a couple months, having to close it every time I open Word, which is on average around 10-15 times a day, is really starting to peeve me. I'd leave it open, but it's starting to really grate on me for little reasons, such as reducing the amount of page space I have to view, creating a distractingly cluttered workspace, and causing my page scrolling to have less time before it jumps a whole page.

Assistance would be so appreciated.

You can't hear the voices? You're certainly doing something wrong. And while I must agree with you that the Indiana Jones films are true classics, they would be absolutely worthless without any voices...

Quote from: GodSerious and silly threads are fine, stupid threads are not
Personally, I found it very funny. I guess that's a matter of opinion, but I at least found it funny. It's very rare for me to find anything funny. I'm the guy who never watches comedy movies and only watches horror. I watch Everybody Loves Raymond because of how tragical the brother is. This leads me to believe that Progzy's approximation of you must be rather correct.

I knew it was fake from the period clothing, but I was sad at the realization of it... It would have been tremendous if there was any believability to the existence of period clothes designed for cats, nevermind that said garments just happened to be around at a party wherein one was shorn.

Hey Nik.

I use a Manhattan graphics tablet that I got for 60 bucks on EBay. I don't have any experience with other tablets, and my pen has a battery in it. It hasn't died in a year and a half of constant use, and it's a AAA, so it's very light. You can see the result of what I do with it with the screenies from Alpha - X.  I've never had the pleasure of using a premium quality tablet, like a Wacom, but I can tell you I'm extremely happy with my generic 60 dollar pen tablet.

EDIT: BTW, mine is a 6 x 8.

When making a comic, you have a certain space to tell a joke in. Imagine now if I told you this:

There was a guy walking up the street. His names was Galgafrancham Q. McFootiefoots, and he was 3'6 and had a dog named Yoshitoki Koninobu. What's black and white and red all over? A newspaper.

Get it?

Of course I mean the singing in the first panel. Apart from making me trying to guess the song (is that "I am the walrus?") it serves absolutely no point. And, while the strip is still kind of funny, it's like you're just saying "Appleseed is a good movie." It is, actually, and although I had seen a bunch of the Hayao Miyazaki movies already this was the first anime I'd ever seen that I actually knew was anime. But that's not the point. There's no real joke, it's just kinda saying Appleseed is a good movie in a funny way.

I think you should bone up on your "FoxTrot." It seems that comic is similar in form and function, although not material, to what you're doing with Blip and Radar. You could learn alot about joke delivery and timing from FoxTrot. In fact, here's a little exercise for you: think up a joke you would like to tell in your next Blip and Radar, then select a completely random FoxTrot. Take note of how their joke is delivered, and then try to work your joke in to fit in the same frame sequence.

You're doing really good here, Fluke. Keep it up, but don't stop trying to get better.

Well, I wouldn't say "regularly" updated. Last update was august 4, 2005. I was surprised when I clicked on the link and saw that he'd finally updated it. I'm gonna have to check out the new additions.

You can actually make a graphical text adventure that uses point - n - click, like Shadowkeep or Deja Vu or Uninvited, in AGS. Some of the interactive fiction engines, like Quest and TADS have graphic and music support, too. I would suggest Quest, but it's shareware, so you eventually have to pay for it.

I don't assume you make it in MSPaint. I assume you could make it in MSPaint.

@Layabout: no one said it shouldn't have been made. People have the right to do what they want. Cheeba's making that game with the sex scenes, and I can tell you a jillion people right off the top of my head who would say that shouldn't be made. But people are eagerly awaiting it. This one shouldn't have been shared, though, simply because no one around here (as is evidenced by all the replies) is interested.

No one's going to help you, niggar. (I feel that I can use that word justifiably without repercussion because, like I said, it doesn't really exist). No one would have helped you even if you had posted in the right place. Hell, I got just a couple people offer to help me when I posted in the right place and I'm making a serious game. You aren't even supposed to post anything in Completed Games until you have... aha! A COMP-FREAKIN'-PLETED GAME!!! Whatever possessed you to give us this little offering???

However, going into a place full of Bill Gates dressed up as a hardcore goth...

(I hope I don't have to explain why a guy who claims to dress like Bill Gates would want to buy a Fullmetal Alchemist hoodie...)
