What?  I thought you were arguing on behalf of the claims he was making.

QuoteThere are actually only two religions in the world that have the concept of good and evil.

Yes, this is a bit overstated.    Do you mean of the current major religions?   Because there are hundreds, possibly thousands of mythologies to sift through to prove the statement you made correct.

And I agree that we put too much weight on labels... but in order to convene with other humans you usually need to conform to a set of standards.   And sure enough there are others convening elsewhere with their own standards, and boom you have labels.   I believe that people should convene with each other, so removing labels altogether is mucho difficult.

YouTube - David Adair Reveals Light Speed UFO Technology Pt.. 1

What was that guy sedated with?  Elephant tranqs?   That was the most boring, droning thing I have ever watched. His story is intriguing for a firsthand report but where is a video demonstration of the device he built?

As for the 2nd video, I would never present an obvious radio prank as evidence... well actually

Things are a bit calmer in the UK. Here's about as violent as it gets: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7504472.stm

With regards to religious ceremonies?  Because I've been reading up on your country's increasing number of knife fight fatalities.

I see this man's attack on the local church as a fluke.   But the more fundamental people's beliefs get, and the worse they are doing financially I'd expect to see more violence over the next few years.  The precedent of opening fire at a congregation will hopefully not arise again any time soon.

My brother has been visiting town the past few days so I haven't commented on this yet.   But I live 3 minutes away from a Unitarian church that a few of my friends attend.    I used to think about joining the congregation but now I have no choice.    I will be attending Sunday services due to a rather unfortunate set of events.   ( if you don't know I'm an atheist )

National News:  Gunmen Opens Fire on Unitarian Congregation during Children's Performance

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7529450.stm

Of all churches.... Unitarians?   There are thousands and thousands of Baptist churches in the area... but this one shimmering oasis in Knoxville had to be attacked? For their open-minded beliefs?

This man was under economic stress.   For years his disagreements with Liberals, resentment for his ex-wife's involvement with the church, (and most likely the rise of Barack Hussein Obama) fueled his fire to walk into a church where children were performing... and he opened fire with a shotgun.    He shot randomly, killed 2 members of the congregation.  Injured many others.

This church is a refuge for people in Knoxville who don't fit into the status quo here.    Gay men and women are accepted and encouraged to march downtown by the church.   In fact a teenager I knew when he was four years old organized his own parade and might have been the catalyst for this violence.   My other friend is a college professor and served as his mentor - helping him to organize the gay pride parade using the church.

These are people whose liberties were ATTACKED in America by a man who was under financial stress.   And who hated the liberal movement.    My town is drowning in bigotry and the shadow of this event looms over me when I drive down my street on the way out of my neighborhood.   If there is any good from this, hopefully all the communities involved (Unitarians, gays,  Knoxvillians) will gain strength from this and learn to grow.

Domino: I love it. Hehehe.  My sister's wedding... and she's even had time to get a divorce since then!
Ryan:   Man, Hancock was an asshole.   He wouldn't let me get 50 feet near the president and all I wanted was an interview!

I think the last several posts refer to what James Randi calls the "unsinkable duck".      The stubbornness that wanting to believe and being open to these pseudosciences means that you are  being more reasonable than people using the scientific method.

Evidence in most pseudosciences comes in the form of a list.    "Well there's an orb of light in this photo...and there's a clicking sound on the tape.... and there's NO other explanation."

There's plenty of explanations but the desire for their explanation to be true blinds them from the process, so they are in perpetual limbo of arguing that *we* are the closed minded ones.    Might be about UFOs, ghosts, or god himself.    Belief is downright scary.   You might say that believing never hurts.   I'm damn sorry but many of my friends were witnesses (and victims) of this:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7529450.stm

That happened in my neighborhood.  That's 3 minutes away from my house... I drive by it everyday and if I wasn't an atheist I'd probably attend that church.

Nacho is referring to the declassified Project Mogul, the research project on the sound channel using weather balloons and "flying disc" microphones.

[eric] posted a fascinating Berkley physics lecture on it, which answered all the questions and was quite profound.   I agree with Nacho that refuting the evidence in this video as a government cover-up lowers a person's credibility in my book...

You might want to look into finding out about Sociopaths and Antisocial Personality Disorder.

But too many people accept such labels and put them towards their own apathy.   Labeling yourself with a disorder might lead you toward treatment of some kind, but more often leads to a lifetime of chemical dependency.    My mother was diagnosed as bipolar and has struggled off and on with different medications all her life.    Right now she is on one that subdues the edges of her personality.   She is literally passive, sometimes to the point of being a zombie.

Maybe one day they'll get it right with her treatment, but I personally would prefer to see her acting out and actually being human for once.   And with the added danger of consuming alcohol the medication she takes is only the lesser of two evils.  You couldn't necessarily call it a cure... let alone a treatment.    The pills just keep her subdued and rob her of her personality.

I believe we all have mental disorders, and most of the disorders simply haven't been named yet.   You can label someone a psychotic, and it sounds oh so frightful until you realize that there's not one consistent mental order.   All mental "orders" are disorders.   So finding out which one you are only helps if the label doesn't burden you.   My mom has defined herself as bipolar and I resent it.

Forgive my current mindset on the issue.  I just finished reading "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest".. which by the way is one of my all-time favorite books now.

Just the other night I was driving at night and saw some hovering lights.   I started thinking about mods and this thread.   The lights were WAY up there and I had no idea what it could be.

Checklist:  plane... no, helicopter, no.   Building.... way too high.

The next day I drove past the same area and realized I had been staring up at a mountain.    The lights were just HIGH HIGH HIGH up there and it was otherwise pitch black...   if I had been slightly intoxicated I'm sure I would have SWORN it was a UFO.   On that note, there are too many unexplained phenomenon that aren't phenomenal at all.  I don't trust second hand stories one bit.

Hmmmm.   Tough situation.

I used to be a really considerate person on the forums.   And as of late I've become a bit of an asshole.   But I am polite in real life and very much quiet around strangers.  The internet is just that one place where polite people can let off some steam and complain about everything.  Which unfortunately I've done my fair share of.

But listen, the difference between a polite person and an asshole *is* keeping your mouth shut.   Now there are people who naturally are nice, and think only nice thoughts.   But none of those people can help you I'm afraid.

What you need to do is add a step to your thought process.   You need to add a filter.    Internally, your mind will immediately want to say  "go fuck off".     What you need to do is train yourself and remember situations like this where people have abandoned you because you said what was on your mind.   Just add a filter.   Do not feel compelled to speak one millisecond after being spoken to.   Collect yourself.  Think of the best thing to say.

That's really the best place to start.   There's no way to keep you from thinking the things you think.   And many nice people have dirty, mean thoughts they never say outloud.    Patience and practice is really all you need to change.     Let this one girl go.   There will be plenty more who won't insist on changing your attitude.

Sweeeeeet!  I better start sketching up something.

Maybe I'll make the deadline 22 days?   That's a fair compromise between 11 days and a full month.   Will anyone mind if we extend the next comp and try to attract more folks?    I think the lack of interest might have to do with a prolonged lack of competitiveness.

I'll wait for a moderator or a few people to chime in.  I think this competition is a real fixer upper.

I'm not crazy about grammar.   Too much time is wasted on it in school IMO.

Made a Fibonacci sequence

You're right it was relatively painless and I can easily throw this into a song.  Not sure if I'll use this particular sequence or research more into that website.  I did change the BPM to 195, that's allowed yes?

Omg, why does this sound like so much work, lol.

Oh man, just download a *legal* copy of Reason 4.0

The sound factory in that program will last you forever, and many times you cant even tell its a synthesizer the notes come out so clean and add a little of your own distortion.   Creating drum and bass beats alone makes it worth it.   My god I love Reason.

I'm a buffoon when it comes to arranging music but  I can navigate Reason with ease.
