I just remembered the dishwasher.  This machine saves atleast 30 hours of labor a week per household.

The sink is also a valuable appliance, but for other reasons.

I have very little brand loyalty.  The shoes I'm wearing now are Steve Maddens or something.

General Discussion / Re:Seeking approval

Shit DG, you had to go and find a really thoughtful topic, didn't you?

With every community that I admire, I crave acceptance.  If I'm not accepted, I feel powerless and often won't even speak.   When I first visited the Austin comedy scene, I believed all the comedians would become angered if you spoke to them.  Or that they knew I was just hoping to make friends, and they'd call my BS.  So I sat quietly.

Now that I feel 'accepted', I talk to all of the comics and probably annoy the hell out of all of them.  But atleast I'm finally being myself, only after taking the initiative. Part of seeking acceptance is that perhaps I don't trust people in general.  With each new person, I have to renew my faith in human nature again.

i personally think this thread is legit and should remain.

C'mon, obscure movies of the 80s? Thats sweet!

Goonies is of course the classic of this genre.

There was another where Frankenstein teamed up with these kids in a treehouse and they took on the other evil monsters: a werewolve, the creature from black lagoon, a vampire etc.  i never remembered the name of this movie however.

I enjoyed Three Ninjas as well as Surf Ninjas, guess that's early nineties.

more to come..

Personally, I liked the Kitchen Appliance thread. It was a way of subtly pointing out that the other threads were silly.

*blush*

Las was absolutely against it. He hates everything recall.  And I actually do have an affinity towards toasters.

Am I the only one freaked out by Rich's avatar and how many of his characters look like Malcovich?

Malcovich. Malcovich.

if Lay's got one thing, he has style.

But all he did was paste something into something else!! Unfair!

But what if we make them more efficient? Imagine how much we can learn from each other VERY quickly!

Baboyli, you speak of the mighty colander.

One would use this utensil to drain noodles, greens, and the like.  A necessity in any kitchen.

Have we all forgotten the outstanding coffee machine? Where would we be without its earthshaking trickle?
Perhaps the coffee machine has integrated itself so deeply in every aspect of our lives (work, school, government, sex) that we all have forgotten its roots in the kitchen.  A must have for any counter space:

DVD capabilities? Weak!!

What if a fridge connected to the internet  took virtual inventory of your food, then calculated and produced recipes possible with the food you have!   Ingenius!  No need for women anymore! ;)

Now ice depensor means the little alcove on the door where you put the glass, and ice falls down.   Those are WAY luxurious!  I myself use trays alone and a bucket to empty into.  I dream of a dispensor one day, but those also require additional plumbing.

*note, my sister has one and i believe it stopped working and could not easily be repaired- now the dispensor is merely a temptor of lost souls, and serves as a sad reminder of how much a chore cracking the ice out of the tray is.

Good call SSH, totally upredictable!  I would enjoy this one but you haven't added much comment to get us motivated!  I'm betting on this very thread, self-serving as it were!

The disadvantage is that the freezer is most convenient- at eye level - however most interaction will be lower than that in the fridge, where you have to bend down.
#1036
Which kind of fridge?  Double doors with freezer on side- fridge on the other? Or the more conventional freezer on top?
#1037
oooh, does anyone have a fondue pot?   There's alot to talk about there, like dipping meat and cheese into cheese or chocolate.  These appliances are surely the work of some devine being.

If you post "When was the last time you used your George Forman?" my answer would be last night!  I cooked 5 burgers in 45 minutes!  They're brilliant, AND they cut the fat!

George Forman's grill has changed me as a person- in fact, I would say that no other kitchen appliance better makes the statement of who I really am....
#1039
But why, remix?  Because you get a serene feeling when seeing a small pile of cheese strips form on a plate?  is this something that stems from your childhood?

Personally i really like toasters.  Especially the classic streamlined ones made of all metal.  You can breathe on it and then rub your hand over it and see your reflection. I really respect that.

How about you guys?  Any kitchen appliances specific to your region?

Gilbert? Wok? eh?

Scid? Waffle Iron? eh?

*Note, if someone takes this thread as inspiration to make "Who is your favorite communist dictator", or "What is your favourite "what is your favourite' Thread" - I will have this whole thing terminated immediately. This is serious and a valuable thread to learn from.  Cuisines in different AGS lands!
