eggie, Bad Santa is a kickass movie of just that.

Ben, Quint - I once got a mold of my face done as a child but it was a pretty trying experience.  I think the problem with the ice sculptures is more a matter of conveying such an atmosphere to the audience.  It would take alot of lighting, grandeur angles, and set design for mods to make the scene look more than a few snowmen in his yard.

"Snow Side Story"
Two gangs confront each other in a park or boulevard, singing and dancing and flinging snow at eachtother.

The Sleighs -  gang comprised of kids who live on the left side of the street.  Lead by Spiff.

The Flakes -  gang comprised of kids who live on the right side of the street. Lead by Lumbardo

Spiff's brother, Spumoni, doesn't care much for the snowball fight. Spiff tries and tries to get Spumoni to join the Sleighs but he refuses as he continues to shovel snow off driveways to make money.

The Flakes have built a Snow woman dressed in a sexy short skirt, lipstick, and high heels. They name it "Korea".

As the snowball fight continues, Spumoni is called to the right side of the street by an elderly woman.  He is shovelling her driveway and comes across Korea. He falls in love and sings to her "I once met some snow named Korea."  All hell breaks loose as both Spiff and Lumbardo get involved- each tells Spumoni he has nothing to do with a Flake. Spumoni's love for Korea surpasses his devotion to the left side of street, and ultimately he dies and Korea melts... making both the Sleighs and the Flakes realize how meaningless their fight is.

Thing about Quints is that ice sculptures would raise the production costs just a bit  - if you actually want to show them onscreen rather than just refer to them (ie: "Dad, that was a wonderful winter wonderland you made." "Thanks honey, too bad all those ice sculptures melted so soon.")

But the idea in itself is kind of like that one where Arnold has to beat up Sinbad for a toy -  except good.

Mods- two rival gangs meet up for a snowball fight.  They're pretty tough dudes,  but theyre all wearing mittens and scarves.  The Jim Carrey character is in one gang and his brother is in the other.  The winner will be deemed King of the street. Make it a musical.  At some point have your Jim Carrey friend make love to a snowman.  But make it as short as possible, 10 - 15 minutes.

If I ever get a tattoo, it would only be a character that I myself designed which created revenue of atleast 6 million dollars.  Then I'd say such an image is worth carving into one's flesh.  For instance, it would be totally acceptable for Walt Disney to have a Mickey Mouse tat - and no one else.

Man, don't even pretend that the entire process takes less time than going to the store.   It's more likely I'll have to go the store for carrots and cucumbers!

But I'm curious, is lack of water supply actually a normal occurence for some AGSers?

I hope it helps a little (doubtful, as I'm such an idiot).

This helps alot actually, thank you for scrutinizing indeed.

I think I agree with you on the second comment, the dialogue "You'll go to hell soon, same as your boss" was originally intended as a callback to the diner sequence "the same" pun (which wasn't really strong to begin with) - and when editing, I almost decided to drown out that line of dialogue as a symbol of overpowerment by the part of my character Luciano (yes, that is me).  But you know, sometimes you edit with simply the script in mind- and that's what happened in this scenario.  A critique I will most CERTAINLY keep in mind for future cuts of the movie.

As for the first point, I wish I could have filmed more with the "Same Guy" as to where we see him enter the garage for a logical reason - rather than "I just happen to be where this murder is about to take place, and I happen to have a huge gun" - however, a) that actor only had 15 minutes to film that scene, and b) I only had two days to write this.

To clear this up, I wish I could reshoot a couple shots establishing that the same guy is in the garage on some mission, so when he kills Luciano that it appears he's enacting justice rather than just appearing out of nowhere.  But I probably won't get to reshoot.

Thanks again Shattered

Not so much.  I feel if I wanted at this point, I can turn my career in many directions.  I could establish myself as an actor, a writer, a producer, director, or just a techie like I am in special fx.

Don't get me wrong, I would still like to act, but I would not like to be discovered as an actor.  I wouldn't mind breaking into acting after establishing myself as a writer or those other things. Should anyone decide I have talent enough.

This is based on an article I read about Ed Norton, where he was complaining about not having true artistic freedom like an artist.  And seeing that as well on the set of 25th Hour.   Actors have to stick to strict schedules, they have to go on talk shows against their will for the studio, and they can't walk around and enjoy a quiet evening without a disguise.   I'm not saying all actors have it this way, but not all actors have such the glamorous lives we think.

I have decided to take a break from AGS discussions.  I'm making somewhat an official announcement for a very good reason, I feel.

Two weeks ago, I told myself I would not frequent the forums so much as to encourage myself to be more productive.  I didn't post for a while, but then I lapsed and started posting all night long.  Also- these days with some of the stress caused by standup and work, it seems all I want to do is log on and harrass people.  I like this community very much but for me to continue to have a healthy relationship with it- I need to take an understood break. This will only work if the rest of you expect me not to post. Otherwise I'll let myself get too carried away again.

I told eric I may make it a goal to post again, only once I complete a game.  Haha, I won't make that promise - consider it a surprise and not an obligation.

Take care all.

Here's the right way to approach this Squinky:

Mandarb- when an AGSer posts a thread, that AGSer is offering that thread to the community.  He does not "own" it or have any governmental control over who posts there.  If you think otherwise, I think you'll find fewer people to agree with you than who do with Squinky and I.

Therefore squinky's words are welcome and whoever else, regardless of your topic.

As for the artwork: yup pretty neato.

I've wanted to act.  I used to dream of getting all the attention Jim Carrey received.  But now I abhore Tabloids etc, and see such celebs don't have that much freedom. They're just studio whores.

I've wanted to design concepts for video games.
I once  tried to mail a package of drawings and ideas to the makers of Vigilante 8.  I'm glad I emailed them first, so they could tell me not to mail anything in. Oddly enough, V8: Second Offense featured things very similar to some of my ideas.

I used to want to be a cab driver when I was really young.  That didn't last too long, and I think there was no real reason other than to drive.

Now I want to produce movies.

A man should be allowed to vent at times.

As nellie has said, I have defended people before- I have stood for calm and serenity and all that.  So I want to explode and cause a little chaos. Need I fill out an application?

Im not sure about you forcing an apology from me...

if I were to apologize at this point, its for choosing your thread in which to vent. But please do not exagerrate your devotion to this thread as you obviously opened it poorly. I stand by that. Sorry.

That last remark was contrasting one particular post to the previous.

And off topic or not, tis good to get such concerns off my chest. I wasn't going to start a whole thread "Darth, whats the deal?"  But cheers. and all that.

darth-

No that doesn't work- because as we know, you and I do not have a pleasant history with eachother.  I feel there is some form of animosity and you tried to take advantage of this contraversial lapse in my reputation  as a means of gaining leverage over me.  You have an opinion about me, perhaps you've suppressed this in the past.  Yet you act like nothing is personal with you, that nothing phases you. But that's not true, the fact that you singled out my original post and  referenced your own "cool" reaction in another thread is the very proof of that.  Your entire participation in this thread is personal, obviously.   So I find what you say and how you act to be hypocritical - disclaimers have little effect in that case.

You could perhaps argue "I don't challenge people immediately when they post such things, but rather I gradually try to discredit that person over time ", however you cannot say 'it simply washes over you'.  That would be inhuman, not to mention in this case - false.

As you can see, I've approached our relationship in a very mature way.  Without sarcasm, just plain old reasoning.  Reason back.

I over-react not to persons, but to actions.  There are so many ways one can use words to express himself or ask of others.  Obviously many points could be brought up such as "men are typically the heros".  Is it that we expect a male hero and frown upon a female hero?  Or is it just that not enough female heros have been presented?

Andail- surely you can understand my frustration.   Imagine being part of a debate and the topic is sex and food..   How do you even know what relationship to focus on? How to use food during sex? If you prefer food over sex?  Finding food sexually stimulating? Finding sex appetizing?

Sure there's a serious debate hiding somewhere- but instead we've turned it into something base simply because time wasn't taken to elaborate.

I'm sure I would have reacted somewhat more calmly if I knew Jet a tad more, or perhaps met him at mittens.  As I would have acted calmly with anyone.  I simply don't have time to research when I find a post very frustrating such as this, after such a time of trying to encourage mindful posts.

by the by, Darth-  when you give advice to pay no attention what anyone thinks, how is it that you yourself are not encouraging someone else to accept your own beliefs? Uncanny! You defy logic! Here's a trophy!  Hypocrisy we shall call it.

*hmm, I appear to be an ass all of a sudden

See, but I'm not even going to try to pretend like this thread has credibility. I don't see how you can respond and try to interpret what is being asked. Even the top possibilities for what he means isn't enough.

"In general, do you enjoy playing male characters or female?"
My answer: Well, I like playing a female, but I do get tired of wearing the high heels all the time.

"I am about to make a game- should the main character be male or female?"
My answer: Make the character Pat from Saturday Night Live. That will be the quest of the game-  to figure out if you are a male or female.

I read the whole thing.. and.. it was really well written.  My heart was pumping many times, my mind racing. It played with the senses and I enjoyed it.   I drew alot of my own cave crawling experience and the fears I had of getting stuck, and total darkness.  I kind of miss spellunking after this story. Oddly.
