I'm absolutely appalled when an attracitve female is on the same flight as me.   I much prefer geriatrics and toddlers and overweight loud people.

I used two of his songs in my first student film, La Zucca.    He really got me into opera for a while.   I will forever miss his vocal chords...

What if the blind guy wants to take a walk while eating a sandwich?

Not a serious question although it did remind me to eat a sandwich.

I don't know man.   rollerblading and mountain biking?

Ive wondered in the past if humans couldnt apply the same principles as bats.   I used to walk to this bridge which houses the worlds largest urban population of bats and there was all this literature.    I understood sonar but had no idea it was just the same old brain interpreting the distance of sounds.     Humans were bound to adapt it sometime.

Something tells me that this skill would take a blind toddler many many many trips and falls before learning.    And if you were the mother of that blind child, you wouldn't want him/ her falling all over the place and smacking into things.

I think its something like language.   Would have to learn it during the "critical period" and then refine it over the years.   But perhaps its unique to him because he lost his sight when he was a baby.   Definitely worth researching.

Does echolocation not have its own mechanism in bats & dolphins?   Or is it just the ear?   That's what seems off about calling this "echolocation".

Anyone feel really really really inadequate?   Stop and think about a disaster where you are stuck in darkness with obstacles all around.    This kid could actually save your life by pulling your ass out of there.   Let's send him to Mars!

Nobody count out the possibility that the same satellite that shot the pictures.... perhaps shot a series of lasers?

really don't care for a competition.   How are you going to effectively critique someone's story if you are competing against it for a pixel trophy?

this would even work if it wasnt on the forum.   if the interested folks just emailed each others stories to each other the day before.  and then meet in a chat room

small town America sure can, and does.

Drats.   I browsed the home depot catalog trying to find it.   I figured it was a meter of sorts.    I didnt know but my first guess was that it had something to with air conditioning.

I donned my detective hat and said "if this guy just installed it, what motivated him?"    THE HEAT!

It takes a lot of resolve.

I'm currently trying to cut back my soda intake.  But every time I grab a bite to eat its like I have to say good bye one last time.   "Good bye soda.  I'll miss you."   And then of course I say goodbye the next day and the next day and the next...

But what about men and large girls who smoke...

Large girls?   I think you'll fail to find a single reason for any demographic.   Nevermind that many overweight people are TRYING to lose weight.   If you ask someone about "peer pressure"  they are unlikely to confess to it.   The phrase exhibits weakness.

Let's change the name to "peer exposure."    If all your friends smoke, including fit young women, you may yourself take up the habit.    Similar to exposure to advertising.   If you ask someone "Did you buy the burger because of the commercial we just watched?" theyll say "No, I bought it because Im hungry."

Every person is in control of his or her destiny...  no matter how many marketing, advertising, & PR firms are being employed at this very moment.

Stupot.    Most college women Ive met smoke.    They don't stand around and discuss why they started but supposedly many girls smoke because its an appetite suppressant.

Nick Keane:    no one said anything about a competition.   I think awarding prizes for short stories means that we'll get less short stories.   I'd rather have it be people who want to just share their work and receive comments.
