The slo mo didn't bother me as much.   Nor did the surreal sequences.  But I second your comments about...

Spoiler
The Pirate Lord stuff .    It was nonsense, all of it.  Jack didn't quite fit in with that company unless he inherited the position from his dad who in my opinion didn't appear to be retired.  Barbossa was a first mate up until he became a cursed pirate captain of the Black Pearl.

I'm not going to bother putting the pieces together becaus ultimately the writing is just a formula and nothing else.   All to get my dollars.  Which they have.

what the hell was Cho Yun Fat talking about before he died?

This movie was muddled & convoluted!    I still enjoyed it but it seems the filmmakers don't care if we follow the plot.  They trust that we'll just latch on to whatever silliness they subscribe us to.

What the hell was Cho Yun Fat talking about?

The spelling is bothering you?    What about the proposal of making the damn things itself?    Leave it be.

Its more than ignorance, Arthur.   You were directed to james Hydrick being exposed by James Randi.  Did you not bother to watch?    Hydrick fooled a bunch of idiots into thinking he had supernatural powers and all he did was conceal his breath and made the claim he moved objects with his mind.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Hydrick

The guy in this pitiful video wouldn't even need to blow on it with his own breath.  He could have two friends helping, or even a pneumatic device.  There is absolutely nothing to be gained from watching that video... except ignorance.

I saw an article somewhere that Bruckheimer was definitely looking to make more Pirates movies even if they spin-off on other storylines w/o Johnny Depp.

Found!  http://www.hollywood.com/news/Bruckheimer_Considers_More_Pirates_Films/3692852

Speaking of Google, Gmail just expanded its attachment size to 20MBs!    Go google!

I was looking forward to Sam Rockwell the most.   I was a big fan of his since I saw this movie called "Jerry and Tom", one of those movies that plays on Showtime but noones ever heard of.

When I read about him playing Zaphod I got real excited and imagined him playing the part so well.  I still think he's perfect for the part except that the love triangle ruined the tone.

I'm not completley shure if its possible to jump off a roof and survive
I meant those tall city buildings...or a church.

Arthur, I'm not so sure its even rational to wonder about that.

I agree that the first wave of movie goers with knee jerk reactions "the book was better!"  get repetitive.

I watched the first 30 minutes of HHGTTG up to where Zaphod is introduced and had to put it sleep.  But up to this point I haven't complained to anybody.   If a movie isnt good the only power i have against it is not to watch it.

It's unlikely he's glanced over the proposed sixth book but I imagine its just the manuscript notes for an unfinished book known as "Salmon of Doubt."     Which according to wikipedia was going to be a Dirk Gently book originally.

Now I can catch up with him!

I loved these books.  I have the giant volume sitting around here somewhere.  (incomplete of course because Adams kept writing more and more books!)

But I must go out on a limb here.   I like Adams but I also LOVE Kurt Vonnegut.  The Sirens of Titan was written in the fifities & it turns out to be a great source of inspiration to Adams:

"...this quote from Douglas Adams, recorded in 1979 and first published in the Darker Matter interview last month:

"Kurt Vonnegut I think is absolutely superb. I've read The Sirens of Titan six times now, and it gets better every time. He is an influence, I must own up. Sirens of Titan is just one of those books â€" you read it through the first time and you think it's very loosely, casually written. You think the fact that everything suddenly makes such good sense at the end is almost accidental. And then you read it a few more times, simultaneously finding out more about writing yourself, and you realise what an absolute tour de force it was, making something as beautifully honed as that appear so casual."

Cheap & Easy!

2 Chicken thighs
Marinade of your choice   (I used one called Wasabiyaki today)
Vegetables of your choice   ( I prefer cabbage, cherry tomatos, & onions)
1 Piece of aluminum foil

No other cooking utensils needed.

Lay the piece of  foil on the counter and create 4 walls so no juice escapes.     Smother the surface with marinade and begin to massage the chicken into the sauce.   Pour the rest of the marinade over top.     Throw vegetables in next to it.  Wrap the four walls together (seal it up!)  & throw it into a 425 degree oven.    Set your timer for 25 minutes, then flip the chicken, and then go another 15 minutes.

Its sounds like a slob's dream because it is.   It is DAMNED easy.  Just throw some stuff into aluminum foil.   Throw the foil into the oven.   And wait.

I played this for two rounds but I much prefer Desktop Tower Defense.  Similar concept, possibly same designer.

check it out here:  http://www.handdrawngames.com/DesktopTD/

P.S.   Ah crap, I was under the impression this thread was still active.    Somebody bury me under this thread.

Eh?   Didn't you just prove that there's a rational way to approach most things?   I missed something in your counter-argument.  I mean the guy perceives he's thinking rationally by staying with door number #1  but picking the door on the right has a better probability.  No matter what he perceives.  So rational thinking wins (most times out of a hundred!)

But here is a funny thought.   Jesus returns to earth and makes the announcement, "I've lined up a couple of miracles to prove I'm Jesus.  Afterward I shall give you a message from God."

Jesus gets on stage and performs his miracle.   "Excuse me," someone from offstage calls out.  "My name is James Randi.  I'm prepared to give you a million dollars and all you have to do...."

I won't get into debate over the character of Borat and whether its funny or not.

But take Ali G, Borat, and Bruno.   Compare them to Sasha Baron Cohen's actual personality.   His ability to improv and become his character.... and how is he a bad actor?   if the Queen movie is even slightly serious I am very interested to see his abilities.   If his characters have had one thing in common its that they play dumb.   I could get why people don't like this.  or think he's overhyped.

I'm beginning to feel that way with Will Ferrell.   Anchorman, Talledega Nights, and Blades of Glory have all pretty much been the same movie.   Someone is a celebrity, they ruin their reputation, they earn it back.   All the while forcing lines of dialogue that are anything but subtle.
