Because the sprite style is so simple, I say they do the job perfectly.  It has emotion.  It has style.    To me the apple looks indifferent, perhaps angry.   The pear looks uncomfortable, perhaps frightened.   If that's what you were going for you succeeded beautifully.

What else do you need to know?

I'm excited for you, especially the education you're getting & the aspirations you've found in California.  It's awesome to hear that your following your dreams and a little change up was all you needed.

Sometimes a new location and new place will do wonders for the psyche.   There's no question this place is like a second family and obviously many of us want to know when a huge new change like this takes place.

Weird for me to welcome you back.   I'm kinda sorta back too.

Hey that James Dean charcoal is phenomenal!

This is a horrible whip up.  My moonitor is going fuzzy and its a miracle I could get this far.  But it gives you an idea of the shape and fold of the hat.    As it si, Clint is wearing a straw hat or maybe giant barber shop quartet hat.

It looks like Blondie!   Well done!   I see Clint Eastwood very clearly here.

I would redo the hat from scratch.   It looks like a gardening hat, and you want a bad ass hired gun hat.  Slimmer brim, wider headband.   It's interesting you made it a tan color.

I'd love to see one with Clint's beady angry eyes!

I like the colors and the shapes a whole hell of a lot.   It feels a little empty due to a lack of details.    If you added a foreground element I'd say this BG would really hit the spot.

The light shining from back the castle and the clouds give the image a real sense of wonder. It could use a little more blending in the top right sky region.   The pink-orange edges contrast against the tannish-brown tones.)   A little blur might be all it needs.

As for the tablet, I have very few pointers.  Are those tiny green strokes (along the horizon) blades of grass?   It doesn't come across too well so you may think about striking that.   Keep the edges nice and smooth I'd say.  Especially since they're out of focus.

I'm not sure if any of these games have been released before 2007 or not, but if you haven't played them, you should.

Apprentice but no biggee.

I was curious about this topic myself.  Cheers.

Hey, aren't people supposed to vote for 6 entries?

Nope.   "Vote for your favourite of the 6 entries" can also be read, "Out of the 6 entries, vote for your favorite one."

Very good point.  Victor's got the scoop.  Mine looks more like its aiming at you, which probably isn't what you want.

I agree.  The first image does not feel cozy.  It's not engaging.   I do prefer its color palette and its lighting effects, but that is all.

The second image has much better composition, although dull in color.

Yes!  You're absolutely right about trying it the standard way.     Google "foreshortening."   I bet you can find videos and tutorials fast.   They use it in comics to make action panels look like they're flying at you.   It's practically its own artform.

Here's a quick sample:

I think the zany cartoon style works too!    My point is that there are tons of choices within 2 point perspective.  He seemed like he wanted to scrap the whole thing.

Here's an option:

Hi escapade!

Lovely sketch!  You're almost there but in my opinion there are two big issues here.

Before you blame the 2 vanishing points, let's make sure there ARE only 2 points.   I removed some items from the original and I think it looks less like an opitical illusion.  (the tile wasn't out of perspective, just confusing to the eye- we can put it back later)

Looking at a cleaner version, I don't think its necessary to completely remodel the room.  Personally I love the tone, I love the coziness.

1.)  What if you did spread out the vanishing points a little?   The angle is fairly high which means we might need to see the top of your character's head and shoulders for him to match the BG.  This is a tough style to pull off. (as anian mentioned)

2.)  You used your vanishing points for the sink, mirror, and toilet but neglected them while drawing the door, shower head, faucets, toilet paper, etc. etc.

Fix these two issues and I think you'll pull off a 2 point system!
