General Discussion / Re: The Afterlife...

lo res man:

all the sign language experiments with apes led to inconclusive evidence.  To date, there is no proof that any animal uses language in any other way than just repeating words spoken or signed to them.    In this way, you could view Koko as a parrot- learning up to a hundred phrases and simply issuing them back to her keepers often in nonsensical ways.

Language, as in the creative use of words to make new phrases and meaning, is the biggest difference between humans and animals.  Koko is no exception.

BTW: this is hilarious.

"Sexual Harassment

Koko has been "involved" in several sexual harassment lawsuits.  At least three former employees, all female, have claimed that they were pressured into showing their breasts to Koko. They alleged that Dr. Patterson encouraged the behavior, often interpreted Koko's signs as requests for nipple display, and let them know that their job would be in danger if they "did not indulge Koko's nipple fetish". Koko has been known to playfully grab both male and female nipples without warning or provocation. Dr. Patterson claims that Koko uses the word "nipple" to refer to humans.[5]

All claims of harassment have been permanently dropped as of 21 November 2005 after the foundation and the parties involved reached the settlement."

overcrowding problem in heaven reminds me of the same issue I have:

what if an anti-social man is condemned to a beautiful cloud full of all his loved ones?    That would be his own personal hell, wouldn't it?

Most people don't want to feel pain when they die.Ã,  Ã, When an old man dies in his sleep, his family will say, "well atleast he went painlessly."Ã,  True, long lasting pain is completely undesirableÃ,  -- but you only experience death once!Ã,  Ã, What better bookmark then a sudden contortion or a horrifying shriek.Ã,  Ã, I want people to say "now that's the way you go."

And I won't be done after I die!Ã,  Ã,  I've always had this dream that my corpse would be part of a practical joke.Ã,

In my will:Ã,  Ã, "Dear friends, please fulfill my wishes and push my corpse out of a plane over a crowded city street.Ã,  For added fun feel free to strap an undeployed parachute onto my back (if not too costly.)Ã,  Please try to take pictures of some of the people below as I descend.Ã,  Thanks."

If I were to donate my body to science it would be best to make it a contest and spread my organs every which way and let the competing organizations race in an easter egg hunt.Ã,  Ã,

As far as afterlife, hmm, I haven't thought about it.

The other day I found something that looked like a parellel port which connected to a Sega Genesis!

It was for a really old, cheesy virtual reality headset.   What a load of useless garbage.  There's the end result of Lawnmower Man.  Consumers falling for peices of technology trash.

ahem, oh ... well that's a reference... to the grog machine.... er.   I'm disappointed you didn't catch that.

Ahh, I know I do.  Ive seen the guy in person because his girlfriend was promoting her film.  Kinda made me mad how much he looked like me.  There are certain differences I pride myself in.   Likewise with John Favreau.

So did you watch, DG?   The rereleased two part version should be a little more pleasant.
#667
For starters the guy has skill!

But what this brought to my attention wasn't one artist and his car.  (someone said this could have taken him two hours, with fraps I say this could have taken him weeks)   Like those Mario videos that everybody got all hyped up about - they forgot that anybody could save in emulators and take as many shots as possible in any given level and combine the video into one seemless file.

BUT!   I like the concept of frapsing (sp?) the process of drawing.     So let's see more of that, eh?   What say you?

I'm very interested, and clicked on the link to find reference art.   There's some stuff on there to help with a "blind fan drawing"  so I might do it!   Depends on my schedule this week.

QuoteI already said that EvenwolfÃ,  steal my thunder then.

Really not sure how I did when its a possibility that Maniac Mansion already had the reference.   Then my question "Is there actually a Frank Zappa reference in the Maniac Mansion game or did you make that name up?" Ã, could be seen as a response to your post.   I should have said "who made the homage?  Rubacant or Lucas Arts?"

and I wonder if Rubacant is a reference to Dante's Inferno.

google "Uncle Meat"

As far as getting a random letter...

when I turned 18 a mysterious package arrived on my doorstep with a Mach 3 razor inside.   Howd they know?   And furthermore, how'd they know I would pay $18000 for each subsequent replacement blade?!    These guys are good!
#673
That's actually a common reference to Darwin, yuf!

Let's begin with Andy Penis...  and we'll wrap up with the time the AGS blue toilet exploded.

You said it was weak but I actually enjoyed the demented nature guide the most.Ã,  That first reaction shot of the group is classic.  OK, the waterfall death could maybe have benefitted from one extra panel but the point gets across.Ã,  Yep, I think this one's my fave.

Oh and the atheist description. That's some good satire right there.Ã,  Reminds me of the diagrams in "School Is Hell" etc.

First!

..... actually, that "first" comment that you see everywhere on the internet (like aintitcool.com) is exactly what I love about AGS.Ã, Ã,  Ã, We don't do that dumb stuff.Ã,  No one ever says that.Ã,  Ã, For the most part everybody is mature enough to speak with common decency and debate issues like racism.Ã, Ã,

Here's my perspective:Ã,  Ã,  Ã, So many AGS users seem very similar because people speak in technical or generic terms,Ã,  or sometimes I group names that begin with the same letter together.Ã,  But its when I learn of opinions that I actually start to carve an idea of his/her personality.

Take DG.Ã,  Ã, He's always on the edge and gets under people's skin (usually individuals at a time)Ã,  and that's what I associate with "DGMacPhee".Ã,  He never takes a backseat and always shoves opinions and facts to the forefront of his argument.Ã,  Ã, Sure I know his face, from 2D photographs I've seen.Ã,  Ã, But his personality lies in his opinions, his humor, and those moments you'd never experience if you didn't challenge him about his beliefs.Ã,  Ã,

No matter how the argument turns - these kinds of threads spark activity all throughout the forums.Ã,  Ã, They're like public interest groups that get people involved.Ã,  Or at least leave impressions and new dynamics between individuals. and like I said, they help sculpt who those individuals are in an otherwise generic public "forum".

Example:Ã,  Both Andail and Darth Mandarb "clashed" with me during our first encounters in debate threads.Ã,  Ã, Darth had some very differing opinions on the war (no comment!)Ã,  and I shot all kinds of negative rhetoric his way.Ã,  Ã, But its not as if it would have been better had we both kept our mouths shut.Ã,  Ã,  We became individuals that day, in both our minds (as well as the spectators reading quietly).Ã,  Ã,  I can't remember what Andail's problem was.Ã,  He can shove it!Ã,  Ã, :)

Yes binky. To tie it all together, a stand-up comedian who says 'fuck all you people, you should all die --

OH SURE, if an alien yells "I hate all humans! Ã,  Fuck you humies!" Ã,  Ã, Nobody has a problem with it!
But the second a human yells "E.T.s go home!" Ã, EVERYBODY chimes in, "Oooh, specism!"

thanks LG.

We got lucky with equipment this time.  Our sound guy checked out all these thousands of dollars worth of equipment.   And after I left texas they shot that pimp stuff which was absolutely the best stuff Ive seen him do.

"That's Awesome!" stars Zach Anner, a crippled comedic genius who attends college in Austin Texas.  He interviews celebrities and attempts to navigate through the world of television and the many bureacratic assholes in his path.    In this episode Zach invites us to relive the birth  of his show...

you could go with vertical strips of buttons.   Or big levers.   All the lines on the right are horizontal, would break it up a bit if you made the left side up and down thingies.
