Critics' Lounge / a lonely insignificant alien
Thu 02/10/2003 07:29:49

:-\ He is always getting picked on by mean people and now his only friend is dying from an epidemic ravaging the countryside.

Main character for a very small game (sidetracking from my main game for a bit) with a quest for a cure.

Is the theme too cliche? Does he look too dorky?

* EDIT *

I guess if he isn't dorky then he wouldn't be lonely. So he's dorky looking.

not bad.
it kinda has a retro look to it, reminds me of the ega games.

Rap420, yes, please change it to gif instead of bmp.

btw, it's counterproductive when you call people names.

anyway, good luck on your game.

Welcome, and good luck on your game.

thanks guys.
SSH is right, use the agt as a new template for a game in v2.56. (i think it works in 2.55 too)
the red circle has a problem i've been trying to fix:
it works fine in rooms whose width is 320 pixels or lower. Any rooms that are longer will cause it to not appear properly. ???
i will post an update when its fixed as well as a better inventory window and such.

i'm tossed between wanderlady and mandarb.

Advanced Technical Forum / Unhandled Event
Mon 22/09/2003 02:19:09
For the life of me, I cannot find any documentation regarding how to create an unhandled_event global script. ???

It says I don't have one and to consult the manual for creating one.
Where can I find any more details other than the one under Text script event reference in unhandled_event in the manual?

Can someone help me with an example?

Critics' Lounge / Re:Lake bridge background
Mon 22/09/2003 01:26:27
I think it is a nice pic.
I don't see anything wrong with black outlines. judging from black dots in sky, it may have been a scanner used, not a tablet.

sure there are gradients used, but the only thing to me that needs work is the bridge - in that there is a large gap of open air between the road and the first plank of the bridge, and that there are no railings on the sides.

nice reflections btw.

i like the style. you shouldn't have scrapped the project. looked promising.

as for C+C I don't like gradients too much, were there gradients type of shading in the trees behind the fountain?
in my humble opinion, just using a darker shade of the same color looks better than gradient.

overall, i like the environments. good to see hard work put into details in backgrounds.

nice environment Yuf.  :o
the Pick up button doesn't work for me but everything else works.  ???

Critics' Lounge / simple gui
Thu 18/09/2003 07:43:09
Here's a simple GUI I'm testing, even though it has some really ugly graphics right now.

actions in upper left, inventory in middle, load/save/exit on right. mouseover text on bottom.

right click walks character, blinking circle appears on floor at walking destination, which disappears when player gets there.

I will make a GUI template of it after MAGS if people think its worth downloading.

graphics look good.
i'd like to play a game influnced by blade runner and apocalypse now

Completed Game Announcements / Re:Pilot Light

finished it. puzzles are simple but logical.
lots of animations and cut scenes.
sure it needed some music, but considering the detail put into the game, it's still very impressive.
great work!  8)
