Awesome! I'm still using 255 and CJ's got 256beta2 already. He should be knighted too.
CJ, can I buy you a drink?

You can also use Freddie Fish Jr. and Mr. Jello if you want. It is entirely possible in an adventure game for a fish to breathe out of water. PM me if you need the graphics or .cha files.

(note: they are designed for 640 x 400 resolution)

whoah! that's a huge download man! why so big filesize? is it avi's?
are you using 16bit (hi color) palette?

if your using 16bit (hi-color) try this:

right click and save the picture below as a bitmap BMP.

palette.gif

load your game in ags.
go to palette screen and set game to 256 color.
select a range of slots (select the first open color slot and hold down shift to choose the last slot)
uncheck this color is room dependant.
select import slots from file. select the palette BMP. (you should now have colors in some slots. leave the remaining slots as room dependant.)

the hard part - you might have to re-import your graphics in sprite manager. you might also have to decrease their color depth to 256 color (8-bit) first.

this will, however, reduce that 70mb filesize to a more manageable amount.

just a suggestion.  ;) hope it helps, i know i hated palettes before i used this wierd procedure.

Well, this jam had a great turnout with some awesome entries. Great job everyone.   :D Really close between finalists x0z and Boyd.  8) Both awesome.

Looks like the winner is Boyd by a close margin. Good job.

hay how do you convert it to high color
on the palette editor is an option near bottom right.

i think all the contenders were hilarious and clever too.
This has been an interesting jam. Awesome work, guys. All of you.
I was tossed between Hoagie Laffer and Bumchuck. both insanely clever. I like Le Bumchuk just a tad more. Boyd in the lead. If nothing else before I get off work today, these are the votes.

AGS has an IDE (or GUI whatever you want to call it) and SLUDGE is all script based. SLUDGE does have lightmaps though, but lacks a built in inventory system which AGS has.
AGS also supports 256 color, which SLUDGE doesn't. (Many prefer 256 color for filesize). AGS can also do 16bit color like SLUDGE.
In short, it took me only 20 mins after my first downloading of AGS to make my first room and interaction. (you can tell I prefer AGS, but SLUDGE has its merits.)
Oh yeah, there's a large community of seasoned and beginning AGS users.
Good luck in your adventures.

you need to place a blank line before the translation.
#251
looks nice and cartoony. are you making a game based on this?
#252
that's awesome. good idea using functions instead of vars.
#253
most likely when you opened it in 255, it updated the project to 255.
then, when you opened it again it 254, it told you it was created with a newer version becuase it was already updated.

is it possible to use 2 dimension arrays?  ???
example:

int tile(100,100) = 5; //set tile at x 100 and y 100 to status 5 or whatever you want.

that's the only way i see it so far.

* bump *

the character reminds me of an old and little known game called Inherit the Earth.
It had some talking animals go on an adventure.

I liked it and I like the look of this game's characters. continues prove that hi-res isn't neccessarry to make a good game. keep up the good work.
