if you have done this,I think he is in the village

You mean Ben? If you have saved him then he should be following Frank around, not be waiting in the village!

Have you been to the docks yet?

Spoiler
If you can't go there then go back to the professor's apartment and look for a clue to where the professor is. When you find the clue, you'll hear a pling and you can then go to the docks.

Use the elevator to get to level 2.
There's another card there somewhere.

Spoiler
It's beneath one of the grids

No, the termites ate the whole log. They're too eager! How can you make them less active?

solution:
Spoiler
Pick up the cannabis from the long leafed plant outside Clifford's hut. Use the cannabis on the termites. Then pick up another log from Clifford and use the termites on the log. Tata! You've got sawdust!

Did you setup your game to use 32-bit colour? Alpha channels won't work in 16-bit colour games.

Yes it uses 32-bit colour.

Darth:
In Graphics Gale you can't view the alpha-channel independant of the rest like you have (i think) but I'm sure I've done it like you have.

Hi.

I want my characters to have shadows, and the easiest and most nice-looking way of doing that would be to draw the shadow into every character-sprite. So I've done that (in Graphics Gale). I drew the shadow using grey color and an alpha-channel so it's transparent.

But now to my problem: How can I import these sprites into AGS and preserve that transparency?

I exported my images from Graphics Gale to PNG-format with alpha-channel. And when I import them into AGS the editor asks me if I want to use the alpha-channel so I answer yes. But when I test the game the shadow is not transparent!

What am I doing wrong!?

As beautiful as ever, Erwin!

The only problem I can see is that the chair blends into the floor a bit. Try making the chair brighter.

Found it! But why can't I use the potassium? I have put the sulhpur and the sawdust and the oil in the bowl...  ???

I've tried it. But FRank only said: "Nah. No Fun."
Am I missing something?

How to make the bomb:
Spoiler
Just use the bowl and if you have all the ingredients Frank will make the bomb.

I know it's not logical that you can't use the potassium and I will change this in the version 1.1.

Honestly, I don't understand why we can't just have floating points and math built into this game. It is certainly the limiting factor.

I think Chris has put a float data-type in AGS 2.7. Having floats would really make all of this much easier.

Wow!  That's a good resource! Especially the bit about pathfinding and AI!

THanks!

Well, portrait-speech must be even older than the LucasArts style. Or maybe they're just as old, I dunno. But if you want something REALLY old-school you should go NO SPEECH-style, like in the old [Space-, King's-, Police- and so on] Quest-games. They just used text-windows where a narrator told you what had been said.

Personally I like the LucasArts style best.

I just had a look at the demo version of DarkBasic.
I think I noticed one big disadvantage of the program. Your complete code (which would be pretty big for a GK 3 style game  :D ) has to go into ONE single script. There are no seperate supscripts like in AGS.
That makes things really complicated.

I'll now try the BlitzBasic 3D demo version.
However, coding your own pathfinding routine doesn't sound like fun to me! Do you think there are any tutorials on that topic?

I've used Dark Basic a lot in the past, and while it's kind of powerful the scripts tend to become REALLY nasty. This is because the script-language is based on the BASIC-language, which means no object-orientation at all! So making big complex projects like a GK3 in DarkBasic is not recommended! (at least not by me ;) )

I remember it taking me a long time to do this and I thought he was never going to follow. I think what I did was after I found the screen he was in, was to walk right, then make sure hes following,I think I kept stopping to make sure he was following,  then up and left and I think I had to wait for a little while before he turned up.

Spoiler

Actually the robot will come into rooms at random. In most rooms there's 33% chance that it will appear, but after you've put the gum on the console it's 50% chance that he'll appear when you enter that room. So if he's not in the room with the emergency exit just exit and enter it again until he's there.

I really like those colors, Andail! Especially since it's more clear that there's sun and shadow.

I'll try to get that into the background.
