Adventure Related Talk & Chat / Photo Sprites
Sat 13/04/2013 12:10:55
Hey everyone. Now I know this topic has been discussed before, but as i am a filmmaker by profession (and have been working as a Cinematographer and Editor for the last 10 years) I would like effectively use photos as sprites for my new game.

I know it's a bit of a hot topic, but some games (e.g. Donna) seem to have been well received and they used this technique.

So my question is twofold - why do you think the technique works in some games, like Donna, and not in others? And also, do you have any suggestions for techniques or other games that you think used the technique well?

Thanks

Hi Everyone. I've been working on figuring out this coding story. I've managed to create a very rudimentary custom Inventory, and create a scene where the character can pick up a flash drive.

Once the character picks up the flash drive, I've got it to disappear from the scene, appear in the inventory and become selected as the current active inventory item (all good news!). Once I deselect it, I can't figure out how to reselect it as the active item from the inventory GUI.

I've tried placing something in the Global script along the lines of:
Code: AGS
function iFlash_AnyClick(){
  cCharacter.ActiveInventory = iFlash;
}

but that did nothing. Any suggestions would be great! :)

Thanks again!

Hello everyone. I've been researching thoroughly and am very keen to begin working on my first AGS game. All the tutorials and guides I've seen begin with the "Default" game, and I'd like to create everything from scratch (GUI's etc.) Do you have any advice on what to begin with (room and character art?) Can you possibly point me towards any resources that would help someone building a game from scratch?

So, two big Kickstarter-funded adventure game studios are in full swing!, both being helmed by legends from both the golden ages of Lucasarts and Sierra respectively

If you had to only play games from ONE of the two studios, which would it be and why? :)

P.S. I'm Gareth, and I'm new here. Based in South Africa. Pleased to meet you!
