I myself am a adventure game junkie but, and I shit you not, I haven't played Grim Fandango.

My faves would be Indiana Jones and the fate of Atlantis, graphic and sound wise. It was the first adventure game I played back when the CD player was external. At first I didn't understand it, since before that game I was used to playing Atari's Moctezuma and the sort. But when I got the hang of it I just couldn't stop looking for more of the genre.

Also, DOTT.

The Dig is very nicely done. I remember the music, that was nice.

I have no mouth and I must scream, based on one of Harlan Ellison 's short stories. 'Twas my first attempt at "psychological" thrillers.

Right now, I am looking forward to Technobabylon and Ben Jordan final chapter.

This game is fun, nevertheless it has some bugs that crashes the program, which is frustrating.

:(  The game file has been updated last week to get rid of that bug in the room of the safe.

hint for cursors:
Spoiler
neither chalkboard nor calendar. You have to look elsewhere

Spoiler
I must be doing something wrong: still can't unlock the door with the wine code. The game usually crashes here, at Greedy's door. Halp?

This game is fun, nevertheless it has some bugs that crashes the program, which is frustrating. Anyone else with this problem?

Anyways.

Spoiler
Having trouble opening Greedy's apartment door. Already have the key. It appears the password is the series of numbers found in the chalkboard or in the calendar. Maybe a mixture of them?

The Rumpus Room / Re: How did you find AGS?

Since I am not fond of modern 3d day all-the-greatest games, and adventure games in the market are kinda obsolete, I turned to "abandonware". And suddenly I found this web and I was stunned.

:o

This is the main source of my games, and the cool thing is that keeps expanding!

It depends on your current mood.

I find myself nowadays very much attracted to Nine Inch Nail's "Discipline".

Hello gaarias,

May I ask you to clarify on which part of the puzzle you are stuck (cursors or key).

Spoiler
Cursors.

May I ask you upfront to give me the cursors? I was playing this one with my GF and we are pretty much stuck. Yes, we are a nerdy couple sometimes.

I am currently reading a book with novels and theater pieces of Anton Chéjov. To be more concrete, I am reading for the second time the whole book (+- 1,300 pages). Chejov novels are sad and tender at the same time. 'Tis one of my favourite authors.

I've only read one collection by Chekhov, and I don't remember a single story from it, so I guess it didn't make much of an impression. I've never been much for the Russian authors; I've given Tolstoy a try a couple of times, and had a go at Dostoevsky once, but I don't think it's for me. I found The Gulag Archipelago fascinating, though.

If you were to pick one favorite Chekhov story, which one would you recommend?

(BTW, are you Spanish or Portuguese? The spelling of Chekhov appears to be Spanish, but "novel" for what the English call a short story or novella seems like something a Portuguese person might write.)

I am a spanish speaker so forgive my mistakes. :(

Yes, here short stories are called nouvelles, but I wasn't sure how it is translated into english. I would sugest you Ward No. 6, which I believe is one of the most known novellas of his. I mean, I was locked up in a mental ward about three times so I can relate to it.

:o

Anyways, I can't take my eyes off the book by now. After it, I am about to pick up Martin Amis or Julian Barnes.

Not a movie, but an anime series: Monster. It has a lot of plot twists and could make a great adventure game.

Here's the wikipedia entry providing info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monster_(manga)

Hey, I am the current new guy: greetings from Chile.

I have always liked adventure games. Back when multimedia was new, my father bought it, and we got a box full of games from various genres. On this box were Indiana Jones and the fate of Atlantis and Quantum Gate (does anybody remember this one?).

With these games I learned english.

Other games I like:

I have no mouth and I must scream.
Day of the tentacle.
The Dig.
Full Throttle.
Monkey Island series.

AGS games that I like.

Ben Jordan series.
Trilby series.
Blackwell series.
Gemini Rue.
Technobabylon series.

Big fan of music (Nine Inch Nails, etc). Also a compulsive reader.

Have a degree of Sociology.

Again, greets to all.  ;D

I am still stuck in the safe puzzle. I have the hunch many are in my situation. Being the game so fun and all, this problem is somewhat frustrating. Does anyone have the solution?

Thanks.
