AGS Games in Production / Re: Drugbust

Ooh, but I didn't like that when I looked at something, Tony only says 'there's nothing to look at' or something like that. Could be more interesting to see more talking.

But anyways I enjoyed it. The story is cool! (yeah, like a typical American movie, but still cool)

Thanks! Always glad to hear good comments of my art.

Well-well. I'm working on a game.
I've been doing it for a long time, actually. It's my first solo-project, and I couldn't come up with a better story. However, I'm trying to finish it before the summer. Maybe even earlier.
Only time will tell.

Story: Tallinn. The city of asphalt and concrete. But still some people call it their home and love this place.
...and some people not. A guy who lives in Türi (a little town not very close to Tallinn) has just got his driving-license and bought a car. And he wants to go to Tallinn to watch a movie in the cinema. So he goes there... and watches the movie. But then -- he finds an empty parking lot on the place where he left his car. So it's stolen. He decides to start finding it in the big city. And the rest of the story is the game itself!

Graphics: Yes, many of the bg's have been in Crits Lounge. Anyways, two screenshots are here:

Oh yeah, and the graphical programs are the good old MSPaint and the-best-thing-on-earth ArtGem, ofcourse. ;)

I'm not very far with the game yet, but you can see the progress here:

*Story: 90%
*Scripting: 100%
*Graphics: 100%
*Music: 100%
--
*Translating: 10%

And I'm not sure about the release date. But I want to finish it before the summer. Oh I already said that.

Umm... and there will be no demo. I don't like making demos.

So what you think? Hope you like it :)

---

UPDATE 1th Feb: I changed all of the main char sprites. (see the picture below)

UPDATE 10th Feb: Thw game is progressing...not quite fast at the moment... so much school work, so much school, and other things to do.
But -- I try to use every moment of my little spare time to develop my game.
And I also made up my mind - the game doesn't need any more music, so two tracks is enough for me.

UPDATE 13th Feb: I got only two words: Coming soon!

UPDATE 18th Apr: Now let's say, It's not coming that soon, as I expected earlier, but things are going still fine.

UPDATE 7th June: The Estonian version is finished! Already few days ago, that is.
Currently I'm translating it to English. Maybe I will let someone check the spelling too, but I'm not sure of that yet.

The right leg is maybe a bit too short.

I know what you mean, buloght.
You first gotta go to living room, then you can go out.

Critics' Lounge / Re: Er... a bg?

Yup. It's correct. This house definetly needs a door. (How didn't I notice it myself?)

Btw, nice paintover, Bernie! Though I think the water is maybe bit too saturated, the grass and the barrel look much better. And the details also.

And - well - I also agree about the horizon line.

And all the other stuff you guys said.. I agree. And I'm willing to change the things that are wrong.

And the car... It really is Lada! The 2103 model, btw! :D

Critics' Lounge / Er... a bg?
Mon 23/01/2006 15:24:17
Well, this bg is not actually for a game, it's just a first try to draw something with ArtGem.

Since I am real noob to ArtGem, I thought to start more learning it.
This is the first reslut:

It's supposed to be a parking lot and flat building, with a car and a barrel.
Any ideas? Or crits? Or did I do something completly wrong?

General Discussion / Re: Using real names
Sat 21/01/2006 16:23:45
I haven't written my real name in game credits before, but that has been a mistake! One day I told my friends about a game I made two years ago, and they happened to know this game, but they didn't believe it was made by me! :(
Then I decided: I'll add my real name in to all the games I will create. I think everybody should do it!

So here's my entry:

(88x151 pixels, 25 colors)

It's supposed to be a real mean though guy gangsta-boss.  ;D

I agree guys.
So the "look" interaction will say what the writings mean in English. (and it's good, because otherwise I'd have to change very many BGs)

I dunno about the color of the walls. The brown was good, though then everything was too brown.
I'm still trying different combinations, but by now I haven't found anything that's better than now.

Uh, now I noticed, the map is not correct. Gotta go change that too.

This red roof-thingy in the left of the screen would be better without the double-pixels on its outlines.

Sorry for the doublepost, I needed to bump it.

I tried to do something what InC said. Made it darker, too. And some more minor changes.

Ah yeah, also changed the color of the bench, but I ruined it. (IT was better before)
#315
I suggest you to save imnages in .PNG format.

About the pictures.
What Tuomas already said. The sky is nice.
ON the first pic the trees that are in the edges of the picture could use a little darker color.
#316
You really made a good point, Nikolas.

Even though it would be an adventure game background music which plays on and on, it really does get boring. (Now I notice it, too)
So should I add some different melody with different chords somewhere?
It's worth of try. I'll see what comes out.

Critics' Lounge / Second soundtrack for WtT
Mon 16/01/2006 18:11:38
I've composed a song and edited it a dozen times already, and it's better than before. I think that's even pretty good song! Still, I want to know your opinion.
Over here: http://www.zone.ee/escalade/texture.mp3
Anyways, all the crits would be welcome.

Btw, I've just come out with a name for my game I'm working on -- Welcome to Tallinn. (since a game called "Tallinn" has already created before)

Critics' Lounge / Re: Arizona Redneck Home
Mon 16/01/2006 17:40:37
I like games about rednecks! :D

About the bg: Overall it looks nice. I think that there should be some green plants growing in the sand. And maybe you should add a window on the house.

I would make the garage door opened, and an edge of a pickup-truck seen in it. But it's only my opinion.

Creating the walkcycle. (That's the thing I hate, too)
You should look at this:

(by InCreator)

It's not really a tutorial, but you can see from that picture, how the feet are supposed to be animated.
