I need the help of a programmer.  Nevermind, I think I can probably manage on my own.  Will post further questions in the technical forum.  Thanks Steve.

The game is called "Circle the Aardvark in the Back of the Pickup Truck"

It is an arcade game roughly based off of the game "Whack-a-Mole".  There is a 3X3 grid of pickup trucks, from which randomly appear either an aardvark, a sand lark, or Otto von Bismarck.  The objective is to use the mouse to draw a closed figure that encloses any aardvarks on the screen, but misses any sand larks and Bismarcks.

Two functions basically make up the core of the game, and I am having trouble writing them.

One recognizes when a closed figure has been drawn by the mouse.  I actually have a decent working version of this function, but it makes mistakes occasionally and I can't pinpoint quite why.

The other function identifies which objects are within the closed figure that has just been drawn.  I have an idea of how this might be accomplished, but I haven't written any code because I suspect that my method is more complicated than necessary, and I don't think the array handling in AGS is fast enough for it to be a feasible option.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

They look really good.

I noticed two things that could be improved.

In the second head from the left, the mouth is a bit strange, it looks like he's curling his lower lip over his teeth. Also, anyone with their upper lip high enough to reveal that much tooth will also have extremely noticeable creases from above the nostril to the corner of the mouth.

In the head on the far right , there is an akward lump of beard sticking out over the ear that I think should be made smaller, or erased completely.

It looks like the shading in the head doesn't match rest of the body.  Like the head has a light source to the left and the rest of the body has a light source in front of him.  Proportions look good to me, the head might be a little too small though.  overall, a very nice sprite.

They look both good, and consistent.  You might consider adding some shadows for the plants, or by corners to give the rooms a more full appearance.

It took around 5 hours to make.

The problem with making it look more like an insect is that insects are gross, and the fasmo character is supposed to be cute.  But I see what you mean, and agree that building 3d models based on 80*50 pixel sprites is somewhat limiting.

The goal I'm trying to work towards is to make models for games (a subject which at present I admittedly know very little about).  I was hesitant about using meshsmooth because I thought it would add too many unnecessary verticies.  I'm also just barely starting to learn about shaders and bumpmaps and the like.

I worked on the mesh some more and here's what I came up with. no subsurf.  What do you think?

I made a 3d model of my Fasmo character... though I probably won't do the next game in 3d.  I made it in blender.  The one on the left has a subsurf on, the one on the left is the actual model.

I suppose that's a legitimate opinion to have.  I thought the line game was fun the first time I encountered it.  It's really not impossible to solve if you just sit down with a pencil and paper and think about it for a while (I think it took me like an hour and a half when I figured it out).  Admittedly the puzzles in this game are really not that hard (with the exception of the math puzzle).  But I've seen similar logic puzzles in adventure games before, so I didn't think it would be deviating too far from the canon.

Though like I said, I can understand your frustration in expecting a game with strong adventure elements punctuated by clever but easily solved math puzzles, but getting a game weak in adventure but with a complicated math puzzle thrown in.

I was considering giving the player the option to skip that part by begging the man running the game to just give fasmo the guns regardless, but I realized there wouldn't be much left to game if I did that.  So it remains.

The backgrounds were mostly made using the airbrush tool in Gimp.  I tried several times to make decent looking walking animations for the main character but they were never very convincing (one ended up being used as the dance thing he does in the intro).

I fixed the bugs you folks mentioned, and uploaded the new version.  Thanks for the help.

here are the source images for fasmo if anyone feels like helping me out and making a walking animation for him  ;D

some of you may remember "Fasmo", my first game which I released around 2 years ago.  Well, it was slow in coming, but I've finally finished the sequel.

In this game, you once again take control of Fasmo, the sentient stick bug from outer space.  He's accidentally teleported himself into the wild west, and must contend with ferocious bandits, and scheming policemen.

It's a fairly short game,  Hope you enjoy.

It's the game of Nin, which is solved.  A quick Google will easily net you results if you want.

link please, I couldn't find it   :(

Punch:
Spoiler
I hadn't noticed that one before, whenever I tried that move, for my next move I'd take row three down to 2 sticks to keep it and row one equal to row two, rather than to taking one from it...
Keeping two rows equal to the third only works if those two rows aren't equal, otherwise the comp can take the  the large row and force you to break the two equal rows requirement.

hope that told you something you didn't already know...

yeah,  there's only one way to beat it (I think), but the game is rigged for the person who goes first.

Spoiler

try starting out by taking one line from row two...

geomis-- your sig is..... interesting  :)

this is a puzzle game in which there are three rows of lines. You
and the computer take turns removing them. To win, make the computer
erase the last line.

I'm planning on  making it one of the puzzles in my next
adventure game, but it's still rather fun on its own.

Wow, I thought 1Gb would be enough, I'll try to get a new link up...

Edit:---

And here it is... sry no screenshots, just the file, I didn't see a bandwidth limit, so hopefully there isn't one...

Hi everyone,

It took me the completion of my first game to gather up the nerve to post on the forums,
The game is Fasmo. You play as a stick bug looking alien called Fasmo, who stayed back at the colony to watch over everything while everyone else went to a carnival. He thinks he's alone but soon finds out he's not. Play it, tell me what you think, it's a fairly short game.

you can find it at
