Cheers, works fine now!

And yeah so does:
QuoteWhen a dialog option is selected in the tree and you click on it and wait a bit it goes into edit mode. F2 does the same.

I recently programmed the same thing, but in Flash. There, you can query the width of the stage (and divide it by two to get the center). Add (or detract) some value to that, and you essentially have boundaries to trigger the scrolling. Maybe you could try the same thing with the AGS equivalent (System.ViewportWidth)? Or I don't know if you can set room edges via code.

A tiny qualm, but for consistency's sake, it would be nice if walkable areas could be "disabled" and "enabled", instead of "removed" and "restored".

Hmm that's weird. Well, I don't have another place to upload it, but if anyone else feels like hosting a mirror, I won't object. Or just PM me your email adress and I'll send it to you.

Darn that is a useful piece of code! Didn't know about that, thanks.

Man, GOG is a real treasure. Such a cornucopia of nostalgia. And cheap too!

Allright, I'll PM you the error report. I'm on Vista btw.

Oh cool, thanks for the info :)

I was gonna try out your suggestions, but I can't seem to be able to open the editor anymore. It throws some System.AccessViolationException error about trying to read or write protected memory?

Hey AJA, I've been using your DiDes for a bit now, and I quite like it indeed! Just a few qualms I've found while using it:

- Clicking directly on the dialog option in the tree does not let me edit it, only double-clicking in the text field does? And that only works if the text field is empty?

- There's nowhere to set if a dialog option should be spoken or not. I use that distinction quite a lot for my dialogs.

- A minor thing, but, I use the hack of adding a blank dialog option at the end to force dialogs to always show the option selection GUI always, even if there is only one option. But in AGS this option would not be visible if you leave it blank, but here it is (and selectable).

This is amazing, thanks so much!

Cool, I'd be interested to see what you make of it. A* seems like a pretty advanced algorithm for AI behaviour which I'd like to know more about. It's not exactly a Google-friendly term :)

Link is broken? I get a 0kb file when I download the 1.4 module.

Yeah, that could be a pretty useful option! Saves on having to drag items out the inventory and onto the NPC's all the time.

btw what are those (d667,666) things in your dialogs?

Ooh ooh ooh, would it be possible to let us set the size of the automatic font outline? I'd really love to just bump the outline up to 2 pixels instead of sizing up my font to make it more legible.

[edit] Oh and another thing: when you compile a game, it automatically adds the dialog_request function to the global script - isn't that obsolete now that you can just run code from within the dialogs?

That's interesting CJ, I didn't know you could set that size.

I've defined the screenshot size in my template with #define SL_WIDTH  128 and #define SL_HEIGHT 96 and it creates a dynamic sprite with that for the GUI button of the same size.
But when it saves the game it scales the actual screenshot down to 160x100? That's a widescreen aspect ratio isn't it? I built and tested it on 640x480 so the pixelation is not terribly noticeable to me, but I believe Joseph was running it at 1024x768 with a 320x240 button, where I can imagine it becomes quite noticeable.

Ahmet built a fighting engine some time ago. If it still works, that should get you started. You can get it here.

General Discussion / Re: Must-have-tried games

I totally agree, Desperados was fantastic. Part II even moreso, when you could seamlessly switch to a 3rd-person view. And yes, Sanchez was awesome. :)

Obscure titles, hmm....

If you're into the latest Resident Evil's, Cold Fear is a really good RE4 clone. It takes place on a oil tanker caught in a storm, overrun by zombies. Thumbs up.

Lingering in the horror genre for a sec, if you haven't checked out Penumbra, go do so. Real nice indie horror games that put a lot of focus on the atmosphere, and they have a really interesting interaction system.

And Infernal surprised me with how much fun it was for a cheesy B-game. You play as a fallen angel fighting against the legions of Heaven. Except you're some badass dude with a goatee and guns that shoot flaming bullets, and the devil is a black man in a suit with cornrows.
