Oh right, you're using a text parser. Yeah I have no experience with that so I'm not sure how that interferes with the code.

You can easily do this with regions. Go to the room editor>areas and from the dropdown box where you have hotspots and walkbehinds and such, select regions. Now draw the area around the door where you want it to be able to open, it's radius so to speak. Then from the interactions you select 'when player stands on region>run script' and add Objectoff(#);, where # is the number of the door. If it's an object that is. This way the door will be open while the player stands on that region of the room.

Great idea, finally a place to find all AGS walkthroughs. Looks nice and slick too, well done!

Excellent game. You managed to break my tradition of not playing first-person (photo) games, but yours was just so well done I couldn't pass up on it. Props!

I've struggled with this for a year or two now. I remember last year I think, when I was doing homework(one of the last times) and I was like "shit, what happened to me, i can't focus anymore." I used to sit downstairs for hours on end, drawing comics. Now I struggle to create even one page in one sitting. And more recently, when I had to hand in a report, but I wanted to work on my game, I ended up doing neither.

When I am motivated I get big ideas, but when I think of how tedious it will be to realise them, I get discouraged. It's in the effort I guess. I can read a book or play a game, but why bother making one yourself when it's out there already in a similar form, better maybe even, ready for consumption. Breaking that train of thought is the key to motivation.

I'm doing some testing with Flash characters for TMC. I wasn't content with my sprites, so I decided to try drawing them and then animating in Flash. So far it has been pretty promising, and I'm at a stage where I just might be able to pull it off.

Here's Adam, pretty much done and full size.            And a WIP walkcycle test. Lots of tweening going on there.

Will ofcourse be downsized later.                             http://www.dinerdate.net/Adam.gif

That's about it. I would really like to show you some great stuff I've been working on, but it's for my MAGS project(if I get it done) so I'm keeping that under wraps.

So far all is well.

Though I did receive an email this morning. From myself...

The 969/666 thing was kinda bizarre, especially since it was sent from my account, to me, while I was asleep...

But, other than that it's just another average day.

The game is in a ZIP file. Get winzip or winrar or something to extract it.

Hmmm, tempting. Just finished my last exam so I've got all month to get to this.

Yeah, the plugin works great. Gilbot converted it to a module a while back. It's in early stages, so there's only parallax for objects in the foreground.

Link.

I use Screen Movie Studio to record AGS playback. It's too bad FRAPS doesnt work with it, that would be really useful.

It would be quite disturbing if such a thing came to pass. We can't let our freedom be limited by commercial interests. That's a direct violation of the constitution. But as someone pointed out, if it did come to pass, Google, Microsoft and other multimillion dollar companies would probably just buy up all those crooked little ISPs.

Reminds me of the time a little while ago in Holland, when some politician had the radiant idea to create social security numbers for every internet user. You'd have to log into the Internet... -.-"

I am not aquainted with neopaint, but according to their website, since version 4.5 the program contains a Burn/Dodge tool. Look for that.

At first I thought it was the head of a Great Dane to be honest....

That's because AGS only turns one specific shade of the purple transparent, not all it's variations. The smoke fades to a purple background, not an already transparent one. So only the shade of purple you select when you import is filtered out, the rest is considered part of the sprite.

If it were possible to have the purple background as a seperate layer behind the sprite, or better yet paste/paint fading sprites on an already transparent background, and then import you wouldn't have that problem. But as you know...

Excellent stuff. Perfect bite-sized game with a great atmosphere. And I'm running out of variations to say what's already been said...

Keep up the good work!

Indeed. Since Mistral seems to be AWOL, here's a screenshot for those still interested. Saves you the bandwith.

That basically says it all.

There isn't a 'best' program. I couldn't live without photoshop, but that's because I use it for so much more. Paint could just as well create great sprites. It's a matter of preference. Well, and cash.

Try a few from this big list of mostly free paint programs.

I agree. I imagine the shame itself should be enough punishment. And I don't think we should blame the trophies. They might stimulate the incentive to participate, but if you're just  doing it for those, you're kind of missing the point.
