Absolutely beautiful. With your help Rise of the Hidden sun will become even better, no doubt!

Broken Sword (1). Very moody and tranquil.

Yeah, 'Case of the Crabs' was totally superior to this one. Let's hope they don't f**k up the franchise with the 3D Nick Bounty game, 'something-something goat'.

If you need someone with a low voice, I'd be willing to give it a try. I can do accents too.
#565
Exactly what I needed, thanks. It's not perfect with the detection in some cases, but it'll do quite nicely. :)

Ok, so when you set up hotspot interactions, you can specify what happens when you click on the hotspot with a custom cursor (default 8 and 9). I set those up as exit_left and exit_right cursors, but I want to add 2 more for up and down, custom cursors 10 and 11. But when I create them they do not show up in that menu. Is it even at all possible, or if not how would I add a script to them?

I'd love to go, but I won't be able to make it for the next few years. Unless it was in Holland ofcourse...

Making/playing games mostly, drawing, reading, bit of writing. The usual stuff...

That's good to hear. All in all my game will be roughly the same size as Kinoko's I guess, so I'll do everything to zip it down. Personally I use UHarc GUI for file compression. It also has self-extracting archives, and a lot more options than anything I've seen in other file compression programs. It zipped a 700 mb cd-rom ISO into a 200 mb SFX! For my demo it just about halved the filesize.

ORRR, if you want to please everyone, you could start a 'store' where people with a 56k connection can order the deluxe version of your game for a dollar. Burn the files on disk, throw in some extras, make a nice cover and mail it out. That's what I'm gonna do...

Very much so. Thanks!

Here's my repaint:

Cool, that looks much better. Good use of noise. ;) Don't forget to self-shadow.

If you still would like to put Bush there, I drew a cartoon bush a while back, but I never used it, so if you wanna take a look at it let me know.

Good stuff! I'm a big fan of film noir detectives. The graphics remind me a little of that Indiana Jones desktop adventure thing. Very detailed. Very nice.

Contrary to what my profile states, I'm not from NYC (although I'd love to be...hey, that rhymes.) but from Utrecht, Holland.

*Agrees on most of Pablo's post*

13 pages...omg. That's some April Fool's joke. :)

Yeah I can understand that, blur is very specific for some styles, and sometimes it's a hassle to get it right.

I couldn't discover any black lines on the tablecloths either actually. Looks good to me. And I'm all for high resolutions, especially if you have everything hand-drawn. I run a webcomic so I know the pains when you resize drawings.

As for the noise, it's a photoshop filter, and I'm sure 6.0 has it too.
In the menubar, look for the option Filter>Noise>Add Noise. You should get a popup with the settings. It even has a preview.

Email or PM me if you need any further help on that.

This looks amazing! I used to watch Stargate a lot, so this is totally cool.
I wis I could do sprites the way you do...

Babar is right about that arm, its too thin.
#577
Cool, can't wait to play this game. Looks really good, totally my kind of style, and I saw those additional screenshots on your site. All I can say is :o!
#578
Wow, you sure have my vote for originality!

It sounds really interesting, hope you can get it all worked out well.
#579
Yeah, blurredness is not too great for walk-behinds. Generally it should be used in an area where the player cannot directly get to. You could copy the blurred edge off the image and set it up as a seperate object with about 50% transparancy, but that's quite a hassle, if it's even possible at all.

I think we all agree a violin guy would be cool. You only need to animate one arm. And even if it's just 2 or 3 frames, it'll look really good. :)

Critics' Lounge / Help on diagonal sprites

I've been doing a bit of editing on the sprites from TMC, and most turned out quite well, but I'm not satisfied about the up diagonal views.

Here's a gif showing my improvements on the side view. Sorry bout the crappy quality:

And here's the down diagonal view, which I constructed myself out of the front view:

And this is (don't laugh ::)) the up diagonal view:

I know:
-The legs are weird
-The arm is not right
-The head is...disproportional

I'm trying to get it right, but it's damn hard since I have no example or anything.
What dya'll reckon?
