Having now tried it a little, I have one criticism of Wordlebot: its strategy and recommendations are based on knowing exactly which words are possible solutions (a much smaller pool of words than the ones that are valid guesses). So the other day, for instance, it knew that the solution could not be BOYAR, even though that is a valid word, simply because it's not in the list of Wordle solutions. That's not something a human player could know for sure without cheating, and it affects the optimal strategy.
[offtopic]Slightly offtopic - Reminds me of Nikkabot, the automatic Wordfeud bot who knows all the allowed words. Can be beat, apparantly, but not by me.[/offtopic]

And...finished it and am thrilled there's more to come. (And I need to play the first game, too. Yay!) Clothilde is a great character whom I'll definitely follow.

For us who are less than fluent in Italian - I suspect there may be some jokes behind all the character names? I get the obvious ones, but do the other names mean or allude to something?

I started playing this and expected it to end after escaping the asteroid. So thrilled that there is more! Amazing work! I absolutely love all the "unnecessary" extra descriptions, the sainthood dialogue and the space food recipes. Good stuff, indeed! Need to take a break now to demolish my friend's kitchen (!).  (laugh)

When Bicilotti's avatar was huge on my screen, someone else commented it, too. So I typed "Bici is an enderman", thinking it was like that for everyone. Guess I may have been throwing out an insult, then, if he looked fine to others. Oh well.

Great show and well deserved awards! And may I say that it goes to show what a great game Strangeland is that it won three awards in categories where If on a Winter's Night, Four Travelers was nominated. Any other year and it would have swept the floor - now it just swept a part of it.  ;)

Hints & Tips / House of Horror
Fri 08/04/2022 19:09:08
I realize it's a long shot, but I'm stuck in a 2009 ags game/demo called House of Horror.

In story mode, I need the combination to the safe.
Spoiler
Have found a shelf with numbers that may or may not correspond to colours. There are colour patterns on shelves, paintings and inside a tv, yet it's not clear to me how I'm supposed to think to be able to even determine how many digits the code is.

In arcade mode, I run out of bullets before I manage to kill the boss, and I wonder if there is some trick to it that I haven't discovered.

Thank you for your words, I'm glad you liked the game. As a side note, I did a count and there are far more references to movies, games and series than metal bands, so non-metalheads should have fun finding references too. What references did you find?
I'm afraid I can't recall, but I think there were multiple references to Star Wars, Terminator, Zak McKracken, Maniac Mansion/Day of the Tentacle and more. Was there something from Indiana Jones and Back to the Future in there, too? Not sure.

I finished the game after having an aha-moment. I left this review on the game page: "I liked the game because of the funny characters and the entertaining puzzles. It's a fine continuation of the first game in the series. There's a LOT of metal references in there, both visually and quoted, which will be great for metalheads, but probably most players won't get half the jokes. But music knowledge isn't required to progress in the game or to appreciate it."

It must have been an awful lot of work to work all those song lyrics into the dialogue. Great work!

This is so much fun! I hope this will be a long series.  (nod)

I've done exactly this in my four games (Scales Training Game, Halloween with an Unexpected Guest, Getting the Picture and Prep Time.

The npcs don't have to be in the room at all, so there's no need for invisible sprites unless you want them to move around later on. I used SayAt() like Khris suggests and positioned the dialogue lines above the character in question. If you want to do this in the dialogue, you just need to indent the line, then use the SayAt() command instead of the usual dialogue script. (The dialogue will have to take place in the room where these are the correct coordinates, though.)

I made the characters in the background hotspots instead of character sprites. If you need code examples for any of this, just let me know.

Police Quest vibes from the graphic style. Funny story that fits the theme well, and an enjoyable short experience.

Too bad you didn't get any competition, but the game is a worthy winner nonetheless. Please add it to the database on the games page also.  (nod)

That's some great clavinet playing! A bit odd choice for showcasing George Duke, IMO, as he's more in the foreground on other songs and solos frequently in that Zappa band.

This is looking extremely good, and sounds like it will be very fun to play!

Lovely! Lots of impressive dialog in my opinion and while being playful it went really deep too.  :-D
Thanks!
QuoteI didn't recognize the game Batman was playing but I think I saw a bunch of blue cups... It reminds me of something but it's kinda hazy.
Yup, Blue cups galore.

Also, interesting ideas that could be put in some crazy adventure game.
And he's right. Someone played it. Or not?  Perhaps elsewhere :P
;) Then we are saved!

Weird...I tried now and could dl without difficulties via the link on the game page. My firewall tells me it's an unsafe file, so I have to manually override it and tell it I want to download anyway, and then it does.

Could be that archive.org has so many downloads that firewalls count it as a safe site.
