I prefer not to give away too much detail about the votes. One reason is that people might be disappointed if their game didn't get any votes, the other being that I assume some of the games that just got one vote got it from the author.
I will tell you a few stats with the results tomorrow, but not a complete list of games that got any votes.

That's reasonable. Thanks for a quick reply.

I will deliberately break the mold and suggest some characters for your nomination pleasure. I was a bit taken aback when Cat wrote in the other thread that there were few characters nominated in the Best Character category, when I feel that this year have been very rich when it comes to great characters.
The problem is, that there are so many characters! There are plenty of nominations for various characters, but to be an eligible nominee, a single character has to have at least 5 votes. Btw, you can nominate multiple characters from the same game, if you want.

I suppose the nominations are secret now before the deadline. However, I would find it interesting to see a complete list of every character suggested for this particular award, in order to see what kind of character/behaviour/background strikes a chord with the players. (Not how many nominations they received, but simply who the community picked.) If this is not possible or unwanted, then think no more of it.

I second Laura's choice of The Cabin. Outstanding game!

With the awards coming up, I guess some of the games from yesteryear will get their deserved attention there. I'll certainly be happy to write a suggestion about picking Zniw, Off the Clock or Money Mansion if they by some off chance don't win anything.

I was confused by the "best character" category because the survey's label says "best character art" so I thought it was only about the drawings, not the character's overall charisma/lines/vibe :/

EDIT: Dang! There was actually BOTH! I mixed the two categories while taking my notes in preparation of my votes, now I have to think about it again  :-D :~(

At least you didn't read "The character Art", and then looking out for games starring Art Garfunkel or king Art(hur).  ;)

I like that name heltenjon, maybe once I've finished my first ags game I can make a new one, "Tales from the bomb squad" Reckon it could be fun!
(laugh) (laugh) Maybe like a live feed where the main character suggests to do something, and you control him by liking or other emojis.  (laugh) It would be cool if you used the title.

I think that the download links for Grandma Badass are missing from the itch.io page of the game (or hard to locate on the page?). It's a bit amateurish so I wouldn't be surprised if it was by accident.

I contacted the author a bit back, and he said that the Grandma download link will be back after some improvements, some time in March, and there will be more episodes soon, too.

I was a bit taken aback when Cat wrote in the other thread that there were few characters nominated in the Best Character category, when I feel that this year have been very rich when it comes to great characters.

I won't post pics or links here.

Here are some great characters which all deserve to be nominated by someone in the category Best Character:

Elia from Elia, Ilaria & the Kids Having a Good Time at the sea (or at least they try)
He interacts with and tricks his family in that wat that you just need to see those characters again.

Billy Masters from Billy Masters Was Right
This teenager is very well-written and has quite a backstory that is integrated in the game plot through how others react to him or treat him.

Frank from Duty First
Lovable asshole? You know you would hate anyone who did this in real life. And love one who did it in a game. And all those Metal details!

Evil Wizard from Lord of Light
I guess he put a spell on me.

Edna from Money Mansion
Take your pick, there are lots of characters in this one. Not an original character, but the love shown...oh, no wait, she's evil and horny. And funny. Very.

Beth from Not My First Apocalypse: Stormpuncher
When you have two inventory items constantly squabbling with each other and commenting your every move, you hate it, right? Nah. Me neither.

Oomla from Off the Clock
Noone have ever given a better impression in so short time.  (laugh) The way he treats others is so funny because of how they treat him.

Evil Mirror from Sophia McGrath and the Strange Invitation
Hilarious failed scary creature. I love how it follows Sophia around.

God from The Cradle
OMG! Literally!

Wendy Whedon from Wendy Whedon 2: Nature's Rejects
She is a fleshed out character with conflicting emotions that ring true.

It doesn't really surprise me that there are more nominations in some categories than in others.

When I nominated, some categories were easily filled up with lots of candidates, while others were really difficult because they ask for stuff I don't necessarily remember after playing a game. I see that this coming year, I'll need to think about this while playing the games in order to make my mind up earlier.

Case in mind: music and sound. I would guess most members here are writers or graphic artists in some capacity, while the musicians are outnumbered. While I can remember the feel of a game, puzzles, the look and the wordings, I find it harder to remember music or sound from something I played a year ago, because I didn't set out to notice it. Musicians would probably have this the other way around.

It would seem the red squares have been eradicated. (1) They were wise to try to hunt down the blue concuistador. But now hesheit is all alone in the squaredom, with noone to rebuild the Squareworld with himherit. I cry out for a sequel! I say to-mato, you say no-mato!

Sorry, but you said we could make our own background story.

(1) They were sent to Dagger Hell.

How does the music/sound category work? Does the music have to be created specifically to the game, or does music used by permission count? (Game in question is Dread Mac Farlane - Son of the Pirate, with "Some songs by the group Ye Banished Privateers, with their kind permission.")

More games with voice work:

Suli: Fallen Harmony (French speech during intro)
The Office (Not that one)

Is the Indiana Jones game considered a demo?

I've started this one a bit. It's more of a traditional adventure game than Wendy Whedon. And besides the graphics, which you make with various assets, I understand, what  stands out first is the pirate music. It really sets the mood effectively!

What differs from most other games, is that you have many locations and perhaps only one or two hotspots in each. Which means there will be a lot of walking to be done.

I played this tonight. I was a bit worried when I accessed the tutorial a second time and had to quit the entire game to leave it.  (laugh) But the rest of the game plays out all right. There seems to be loads of technical detective work, but it quickly turns out it's just for show.
Spoiler

Fine Blade Runner-like graphics and atmosphere.

There is very little gameplay here, it's mostly a humoruos telling of a story. I couldn't find a save system, but didn't really need it anyway, as the game turns out to be a lot shorter then the first impression indicates.

I played the demo to get a feel for this, and it's huge! I spent a couple of hours before finishing the demo, which is basically the first chapter of the game. I really liked the feel of this world where anthropomorphic birds live side by side with humans.

The gameplay in the demo is about exploring and solving a series of interconnected fetch quests with additional puzzles to get your hands, er, wingtips on the items. But while this is linear in solution, it doesn't seem that way while playing, because the player is allowed to explore and learn about all the problems before Suli can solve them. I've always liked designs such as this.

Now I'm curious about what Suli is up to in the next chapters. I will be buying the full version. Everyone who skipped this one at the word "commercial" - give the demo a go. That's free.

I finally dared to be square. What a hoot! The turbo tape-ish loading screen brought me back, and then the game brought me back even further.

This game has nothing going for it, except playability. Graphics, sound and story have all been skipped. But never mind, you've got to steer that square of yours in a fashion that makes the others bump into each other. And playability it does have. It's got that "just one more go" feeling. I played five times in a row, and probably will when I have five minutes for quite some time. After all, the game is too small to bother kicking it off my hard drive.  (laugh)

This game is clearly made as an inside joke, but it's funny for us outside players as well. There are jokes for just about everything you try. The puzzles aren't difficult, but the game is worth playing if you need a laugh.

Frankly, I'd like a list of Easter eggs.  (nod) I mean, the first post here hints about secret endings, a secret crumb, and a ceiling song. I'm up for going back and retrying stuff, but I'd like to know a bit more about how much there is to find.

Favourite bits:
Dialogue with Maria
Jaws 4
Wall Dialogue

Edit: Found Ceiling song and two endings
Spoiler
Regular and when he takes the chair home, otherwise the same.

Are there more endings?

Not found: Secret Crumb, secret intro.

Does the branch and 3 pebbles serve any purpose?

I used the pebbles.
Spoiler
I threw them at the gate. Then a guard came out, and I rushed in to attack him, presumably with the branch.

If this game is made with another engine, this thread will likely be moved to "Adventure related Talk & Chat", given that this is an AGS site. But we like adventure games.

And yes, it's allowed to make commercial games with AGS.
