I know, which is why I formatted the statement close to what was said in Watchmen :P "don't seem to realize" etc

Ah. A google trap. The comedy of your activities escapes me.

Actual quote: “None of you understand. I'm not locked up in here with YOU. You're locked up in here with ME.” (According to Google/Goodreads. I didn't check the book.)

"Simba" is "lion" in Swahili. It's used frequently in the Tarzan novels, if I recall correctly. I guess both have the name from there.

I got the Watchmen quote and the Army of Darkness vibe. While I have no real insight in the FNOF universe (my daughter does), I'd think making a movie with similar characters gives the filmmakers somewhat greater freedom to kill the characters or whatever they want. I think I'll like this movie for the entertainment value, but I doubt that it will change my life.  :-D

None of you seem to realize, Cage isn't plagiarizing The Watchmen, the screenwriters are - and don't care either  :=
I think we all realize that, KyriakosCH.

One More Fathom is currently in the early stages of prototyping and I'm trying to keep the scope of the design document in check.
Wow, Wham...this sounds really deep. I'm holding my breath.  (laugh)

The earlier of the two says it's a beta version.  We do sometimes end up with separate entries for a demo and its full game too.  I'll have a think about how to combine the two.

I cannot download from the earliest of the two and don't recall if I have been able to do so before. The second one is clearly also the beta - the file name is sq7mania2_betaversion.rar

[offtopic]I'm not too concerned about demos having their own entry. Frankly I just wondered if not more demos were eligible for nominations in the "Best demo" category. Those without separate entries seem to not be included in the list, and those with a demo as one of the downloading choices will be easy to overlook. Then again, I don't really know if a full release is supposed to cancel out the demo with regards to nominations. A commercial game with a polished demo could well release them simultaneously. It seems like Space Quest 7 Mania Episode 2 has two entries in the database:
https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/2446-sq7-mania-episode-2/    (Which gives me an error message about a forbidden site)
and
https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/2472-space-quest-7-mania-episode-2/   (Where the download link works fine)

This sounds like adventure game material to me...Parcel Quest!  (laugh)

My thoughts:

In search of Marina:
Spoiler
Nice and kid-friendly. I like the mechanics Slasher have used before with shortcuts to each location, and a message when there is no more to do there. The help system is nice, even though I doubt there is that much use for it. The game is pleasingly easy. But maybe my youngest will use the help. Beautiful graphics and cool characters. At first I thought the hero fish would have to ask the friends in the first location for help at the right spots, but then the items began to rain down.

Great pun & fun, especially in two-player mode. The game reminds me of those games where you start as a small fish, then grow everytime you eat a smaller one, but is sufficiently different to keep the interest.

I voted for
Spoiler
In search of Marina. It's an adventure game, and while I liked the other entry a lot, I'm an adventurer at heart.

Sophia McGrath and the Strange Invitation
https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/2455-sophia-mcgrath-and-the-strange-invitation/

The game has no download link, hence it is listed with 0 downloads. But the link to the game's homepage takes us to the itch page. It looks like these two have been mixed up.

I am currently playing this and loving every minute. Excellent game so far. I'm looking forward to introducing my kids to this great world.

Oh, wait. KyriakosCH hasn't posted a question yet.  (laugh)

I haven't gotten around to playing this before now, but I noticed the hype...and it was well deserved! Great game that shines in characters, plot, setting, graphics, puzzles, humour, frankly just about everything.  (nod) *Reaches for nomination button*

I found one logical inconsistency, which didn't bother me one bit:

After stealing clothes, the crystal shard was still inside the defence machinery, but our hero would have had to use the lift in the meantime.  (laugh)

I'm still puzzled by this one:

Quote from: Snarky- Closed due to robbery. Now hiring!

Is this a panel on top of another one? What kind of people do they hire?
People not shot yet, was my morbid thought.

Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House fails the Bechdel test. The five main characters in the play actively talk about the ones not present on stage, so of course the two female leads talk about the male leads. Nonetheless, the play is a classic about a woman standing up for herself. In addition, all these five characters have their own agenda, their own goals, their own dreams.

Kurt Vonnegut said that every character should want something, even if it's just a glass of water. Quentin Tarantino has a habit of writing one scene roles like if the character is really important.

I think my view of writing and literature is quite different from Kyriakos's, but that's perfectly ok. I guess many writers specialize in one form, while many avid readers need variation. (And some read or write the same story again and again in some form.) Both when reading and writing, I'm jumping to conclusions that are not always correct. I remember reading several hundred pages into a Stephen King novel before it was dropped in passing that one of the main characters was black. I'd assumed, incorrectly, that he was white. I arrest myself in projecting my own experiences into narratives, thinking that the norm is a white male. This is partly attributed to being what I know about, of course, but I believe it's also a part of the patriarchal tradition this thread is about. Blondbraid fooled me in a game with only animals - I had assumed I was playing a male without thinking about it. The point couldn't have been made clearer. :-D
