Okay, I played it to the end accidentally, then went back and did all the other stuff before going for the ending again. Then I educated myself about Bruce J. Mitchell, Zap Rowsdower (which I chose as my name totally by coincidence) and MST3K to understand how the game fit the theme (which it did).

The game is hilarious, from the dog, via the oilers fan to the hobo and the initial setting. Great fun!

Quote from: Ponch on Thu 10/11/2022 23:30:24Goodness knows if just a few more people would leave a vote, it might earn a player rating.
But I first need to play it through! On my first two goes, I've barely finished all the joke feedback in the first room when trying all nine verbs and every item with everything...I never knew I would get the opportunity to Outwit The Jukebox. Thanks for filling this gaping hole in my experience!

Quote from: cat on Thu 10/11/2022 10:53:18I tried a quick game and the solution (which I could only find with a helper tool) was "JOHNS" - which seems to be only a name and not a real word. On the other hand, it didn't recognize "JOINS" as word.
Could be a bug, of course. It definitely should recognize "joins". "Johns" could be plural form of "John", which could mean a toilet or a prostitute customer, and possibly other things I don't know.

Over at https://wordfeud.aasmul.net/Default.aspx , the home of wordfeud league of honor and several spin-off leagues (mostly quiz games, but also chess and yatzy and others), there's now recently established a league in a Wordle-like game. I'm currently playing in the Norwegian and the English league.

It's called Ordlek (literally "word-game"), presumably to avoid trademark infringement. The way it goes, is that I go to my table page, then click a link to open up a wordle-like game. I play it and get points according to how many attempts I had to use to solve it. Now, my opponent in the match can also play the same game with the same solution. When both have played, I can see the opponents attempts, and the result is entered into the table automatically. If you do not play in the allotted time (I think two or three days), you will be scored a zero in that match.

In other words, instead of one solution per day, like in NYC wordle, there is one solution per match. The words are drawn from the most commonly used words in their forum, in addition to five-letter words available in the Wordfeud dictionary (which is basically Scrabble on a cell phone app, if you've never heard of it). A season lasts 14 days, and I get about 10-12 opponents a season. It's still in the early stages, so there's bound to be some bugs. If you want try solving a puzzle for fun, go to the site, then to the Ordlek English table, and click on the link underneath to go to the match. As you aren't signed up, you will get to train and solve wordle puzzles without an opponent.

I like the humorous art style, like the plant with electric sockets.

Damnit, Snarky already mentioned Continuum!
Quick, into the time machine! You need to post it before he mentions it!  :-D

I don't know the show you're posting now, so I'll just go slightly off-topic to mention my favourite Batman time travel line: [offtopic]Justice League is stranded in prehistoric times with a broken time machine. All the powerful heroes stand around doing nothing while Batman makes use of a soldering iron to fix it.
Superman: Hurry up! He's getting away!
Batman: (pause) It's a time machine.

Cracks me up when I think of it.[/offtopic]

Does anyone have Voodoo Dave and the Tablecloth Mystery? There's a version at archive.org, but it gives me error messages when unzipping.

Edit: Game found

Quote from: Babar on Tue 08/11/2022 13:09:12As an afficianado of time travel media, I can say "Travellers".

The initial shot just had me in a blur of all those low budget streaming sci-fi shows, but I remember the characters shown in the second shot
That's absolutely correct! I thought of the show due to some comments in the AI thread. I liked this series a lot, both the premise and the cast fell to my liking. I didn't get to post the more obvious shots, including the team leader before you nailed it.

Babar has it. I'm half expecting another time travel show now!  :)

Basically, it's a famous quote from the King James Bible translation. The King James Bible is written in a sort of "high speak", old English. It's what Jesus says to the Devil when tempted, and also what he says to St. Peter when Peter suggests taking an easy way out. In Norwegian it's translated into something like "Go away from me, Satan." Perhaps the German translation is more in tone with the Norwegian one?

In the book, it's used in the opposite way, the dog (hell hound) who says it, wants to shield Satan from oncoming harm, if I recall correctly.

You could compare it with if someone in a modern German work talked like they were from a different century throughout a long story just to be able to deliver a famous quote from Goethe in a setting where that would be the normal thing to say.

In the Steven Brust novel To Reign in Hell, one of the characters talks in old English the entire novel, just to be able to deliver a hilarious line far into the book.

Spoiler
In order to protect Satan, he says "Get Thee behind me, Satan!"

Another demo from the archive is Ed's Gravedigger Demo. Short and unfinished, but cool integration of 3d through avi and even a rough combat prototype in the final scene.

Some may remember the sadly unfinished Longevity Gene. The Demo is here.

And a third classy demo is The Day of the Testicle.

A MAGS entry by Fsi with the theme Steampunk from 2009 is at https://archive.org/details/ted-mcbinky-and-his-steam-engine
And another from the same author for the theme Prologue from 2008: https://archive.org/details/red-beard-saves-ron-beta

Ponch has some stuff not in the database. Barn Runner 0: The Case of the Runaway Robot is a short game/demo, and it can be found at http://www.barnrunner.com/barn0.html

A MAGS entry by Mikko with the theme Haunted House from 2006 is at https://archive.org/details/al-luminum-haunted-house

Does anyone have Waffle Quest? The version on AGS depository sadly lacks the executable.

Oh, bummer. I guess I don't watch enough tv.

Snarky, you have it. (Or I can try to come up with something else. Your choice.)
