Trish, regarding the book problem...

I tried this order:

1. Dont pick up the book on the mantlepiece.
2. Get Baron water blasted out of way with water.
3. Then pick up the book on the mantlepiece.
4. Then use this book on the book on the table.
5. The Baron still does dialogue with you like he's still there at the table, but it seems to work and you have the 1st Edition in your inventory.

I think this game is very enjoyable to play and has an amusing feel to it.

I too felt that using the walk icon when going through doors could be awkward at times.

Though it is clear a tremendous amount of time and effort have gone into the game.

Yip Trish - I did the same things as yourself.

Ive re-started the game twice to no avail and now cannot proceed 

Ah well, i think Im just gonna have to start again!  :'(

Tried starting from previous saved game with no luck, but thanks anyway

I try to hide on the steps on the left hand side. No matter where I stand I still get the message "He's seen me!".

cannot pick up the cork and Im clicking right on it, not the bottle. Also I tried to burn the cork with my lighter but nothing happened.

Im wondering if I have left an action out somewhere and I now cannot pick up the cork?

tried to do the rubbing with paper and pen and obviously the paper tore. But when I click on the cork, he says he doesnt need it.

Also, the monk's cell is now locked with the police away so cannot get pencil

get the book seller to talk about the birds, but the same conversation about not being able to take the book away comes up. How can I get him to talk about the birds please? I know I cant record the bird call until he mentions it
