Critics' Lounge / Image converter
Sun 01/08/2004 22:23:56
Hey all, sometimes we see users who posts BMP files, which is sometimes an annoyance to some AGS users. Well, I found the tool that helps those who uploads BMP to convert it into another format.

http://www.moijk.net/blinktools/resize.php

The site is in norwegian, but is probably easy to understand.
Find the BMP image by first clicking on "Bla igjennom", after you've found it, choose the resolution (one of the top three), then press "Send fil". Now the BMP will be uploaded, and converted right away.

Hope this helps.

Hey guys, just dropping in here once in a while with a new idea I thought of, after seeing something similar on the net.

Sorting AGS games (and such) is a mess (most likely when we have a lot of them), so I thought of this idea with a a frontend.

It could look like something like this; http://www.ideiadupla.com/gbafront/ or the LucasArts launchers w/ arrows.
I know one thing; I cannot make this.

Does anyone know if it will be difficult, easy, and is someone up for it at all?

Just my two cents.

Hello dear masters, game developers, Gods, musicians, AGS-ers and so on (sorry if I missed anyone).

Runestone Entertainment are in need of a new url. Since most domains contains just runestone.com or whatever, we come to you to ask for help. (also a new design would be nice for anyone who might be interested:P)

I'll think of SOME award, if it's needed.

Thank you for taking your time.
We appreciate it.

Hello dear Plugin Developers (or programmers as you prefer!)

Our infamous game ( :P), Roger Foodbelly, is in need for a plugin which is able to play flash files (swf - several or something. With the possibility to play music, voices, and sounds in the background!)

netmonkey has done most of it, it seems.. Here's what he said:
Quote from: netmonkey on Fri 30/01/2004 06:01:30
To integrate flash into MSN chris would have to buy the Macromedia Flash SDK and then there's the whole licensing issue. I tried making a plugin once where it used MFC (in other words, it would be only for windows games) to play the flash files, but I think it conflicted with something in ags (allegro) and just froze the program....  I don't know if anyone else would like to investigate more on this method I tried; you're welcome to.

If anyone would bother to find the problem and get their name in the credits (or some cash), please reply!

netmonkey is included in this!

Here's the original thread.. type.. thingy.. :P
http://www.agsforums.com/yabb/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=11313

I hope someone is able to help!

On beforehand, thanks!

Yet another try at this suggestion....

Reasons:
- No quality loss
- Faster rendering
- Less work for computer

and so on....
also... this would be nice to include as well...
that AGS can play music, sounds and such at that and that frame :)

Please, pretty please? *grins*

Anyone else? :P

And don't say I have to include a flash player with my game :P

Merry christmas everyone! Even so, for most of you it'll begin the 25th. You see, for some, we celebrate it the 24th.. Ah well.. Enough about that.

I've just updated the Runestone Entertainment page with this christmas design (hah! so much design...) ._. and a Roger Foodbelly wallpaper!!11

Yey! ;D

It will only be up till new year, so get it now while you can.
Hope you like all like it.

Wallpaper is located there ---> http://runestone.adventuredevelopers.com

Oh, and the Runestone team wishes everyone a merry christmas, and a happy new year!
(That means the Roger Foodbelly team mostly.. Since that's the only project being worked on atm)

FAQ:
When will Roger Foodbelly be released?
2006, I hope.

Why do you hope??
Because I'm not sure that we'll finish it in time.

Why do you say that???
Because our staff has a life OUTSIDE Roger Foodbelly too.

Why?
Because everyone has a life.

I don't
How nice to hear....

SCREW YOU!
Oh my! Watch the language!

DUMBASS!
Don't call me names, or Foodbelly will never be released ._.

FOODBELLY!
That's it! Now you're gonna....

Okay! Okay! I'll go now!

Hey,
I just wanted to check if I've missed something, and what you think of this.
I bought her a heart-shaped box. Inside there's a perfume with a pretty good scent. Around the perfume is a necklace. Outside the box will be a sweet, small letter with two ribbons across the box and the letter.

I don't know if it'll be too much, but I want this to be sweet since it's our first Christmas when we're together. (We're not going to celebrate it together, because she's living a bit far away.)

We can’t see each other before January, but anyways… I want your opinion on this gift :)

Thanks.

And I also want to hear what you're planning to give yours?

Hello,
I'm requesting this type of plugin, because it's fun to get to read the "manuscript" from how we play it, and/or being able to go to a special place in the menu, to read things we've missed. We can see this being used in Grim Fandango, and I think it was added in the CMI demo as well.

Ah well, that was worth my 50$ on forum bandwidth wasting...
Sorry Chris :P

Hi all,
I've just gotten back from a chat with Tom Courthold, the *superior* of AD. Now, you all know AD has been *dead* for quite some time, so I took the chance to ask him. He's now taken it into account, and has posted a thread for a whole new staff. If you want to drive the big amateur developer site, then go ahead and read the thread. If you are qualified, you'll be one of the many next Courtholds! :D
By the way, he's still going to be in charge of it. You'll just be the *adventuredevelopers* workers ;)

Link: http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?s=hreadid=116910

But.. Surprise! AD will contain a lot of cool stuff now! :D

Critics' Lounge / My test character
Wed 20/08/2003 18:11:46
I woke up this morning, and examined some game sprites..
Then I practiced on a new character, and I found it to be good enough to get critics on. So write whatever you think of this. Negative and positive comments. :)
Thanks.

Remember. This is not for a game.

Okay.... Listen up people.. Don't post your passwords here (!)
I just wondered what it was based ON ;D

Mine is based on someone in my family ::)

This is allowed, yes? :o
Just lock this thread if it will threat the AGS users ¬¬

Oh, and don't post too obviously answers ¬¬
Not like saying: It's based on my dad, my cat, my ex - because then you can be asked about this later on, and they can steal your account.

I just thought this was going to be interesting :)

MODERATORS' NOTE: While this post does not violate the rules of this forum, we (DG, C_leks, Dark Stalkey, and Chris Jones) are NOT responsible for anyone's passwords being discovered.

In other words, if you post here and someone finds out your passwords (not just for the AGS Forum, but for anything), it is your own fault and we are not liable for damages.

I'll leave this thread unlocked (unless any of the other mods have a problem with it) but keep all the above in mind when posting here.

General Discussion / A new engine is out!!
Wed 28/05/2003 17:49:00
It's as good as AGS, but has these nice features which CJ won't bother to add. Check out the homepage, and those nifty games. Download the new engine today! I have already made the switch, and I hope you do too!

Here it is, btw...
The waaay better game engine

C'mon! Check it!

Hi there,
I've actually started designing characters, and I want to know an easy way to animate on paper. If not on paper, then on the computer. I have 2ma2's handy tutorial about animating, but I want to know another method. What do you do? I'm having difficulity drawing the excact "stickman", because I usually do all the details on the first one, and you get the picture... Thank you.

Hi there,
I want to request this, because I need it, plus that the size of the game will increase quite much. Does anyone else need it as well?

Oh, one more thing... It would be nice if all the movie files could be compiled into one major file, so others can't watch them outside the game.

Just a thought:)
