I fixed your Shift key. It was sticky.

I like the idea.
You can get away with anything if it's b&w teen horror movie style (only a David Lynch kind of film is easier to make).
A propper "FMV" game would be huge (3 cd's of data?). A small project with black&white 1st person view can be done very quickly, if it's planned correctly, that is.

...There is no graffiti in American Graffiti (dir. George Lucas). (The title, yes, not in the movie)

Two things:
There are too many remake/sequel/adaptations. I know you only picked out those, but the list is just too long. Why do studios squeeze out every drop of pop-culture for some quick cash. I feel like they don't do anything with the cash, apart from squeezing out more cult classics.

Thing two: You forgot that Bruce Campbell thing.

Paint over. Please note that I'm not much of an artist. And the bubbles were a bad idea.

I made the arrow part of the letters.

The "H" is too wide. And some of the blue connecting lines are not positioned right.

I personally don't do graffiti, too expensive. There are but a few good pieces around where I live (there were a few very good ones on a gym hall, untill soneone used a sandblaster and erased them. All that work, time and money, gone with the wind). There are a lot of tags, but that has never impressed me, except this.

Well, d'uh. Marc Ecko and his tag are very known, he even has his own video game. No way would the government let him get away with that if it was real.
Still, it impressed me that I watched it again and again.

The Air Force One video is fake.

If you are writing a puzzle for an adventure game, ask yourself the question, "Is the puzzle taking precedence over the obstacle?" and if the answer is yes, rework it.

That sounds logic an all, but adventure games from that golden age didn't take themselves very seriously. Many games still don't.
Strange that two cartoonist, no less, think so logically and common to dismiss a puzzle based on it's randomness. A gorilla in a pink dinosaur suit blocking the way is random, but funny. What about all those puzzles that are taking precedence over the obstacle, but are funny, smart or easy? They do have a place in adventure games.

And now I would like to talk about Maniac Masion. This is Lucas Arts (Film Games) first adventure game, yet it deviates from any adventure game that was made after this (and before). There is only one location, but there are 3 characters playeble at that location the same time. There are even more characters to choose from, each with different skills, which means not every puzzle can or has to be solved and multiple endings. Characters need to be placed on strategic points to solve a few puzzles. The characters could die or get captured, they need to be carefull, but the games is never punished injustly. (And now the best part) randomly events will happen, for instance the doorbell will ring and a NPC will walk through the hous to the door. Any character on the halway need to move, or they will be caught. The NPC takes the initiative.

It is as if Lucas Arts created an adventure formula after Zak MacCracken, perfected it after Monkey Island and never tried to make something revolutionary again. The worst thing is other companies copied that succes formula.

(And now for my point) There wasn't really a story in MM, appart from that kidnapped-girl-needs-saving cliché. The characters couldn't even talk to each other. Looking at differend objects led to the same responce. It's core puzzling. Still, we can see the plot line and follow the clues.
I conclude that adventure games CAN excist out of pure puzzles and no story.

Concerning the nintendo bit,

I can bring my XBOX which has every emulator known to man and gazillion roms for it.
That should be somewhat a suitable replacement.

I think.

I want to bring my super nintendo, but the airport X-ray might think it's a bomb.
Does the xbox have super Bust-a-Move and super Double Dragon?

Awesome has a game. It's called The Heist.

That's impressive! The backgrounds have the quality of games like The Longest Yourney and Still Life. Post screenshots.

You got the wrong link to the video files, though.

Hints & Tips / Re: Hallway of Adventures

This puzzle is tricky because of the perspective of the door.
Look at the dessert backgroung and you'll see a sun, a tree, a ppool of water and a rock.
You have to put the right key in the location of the door where the objects are.

Spoiler

I think it was this order.
. . SÃ,  Sun
. T .Ã,  Tree
. . WÃ,  Water
. R .Ã,  Rock

I said it before and I say it again, that's a fine background.
The only thing I can give advice on is make your first game a SHORT game. A maximum of 10 bg's (including close ups and cut scenes). There are so many game that look great but will never be released because they are too big to make.
Please start small, and save big ideas for later games.

You can use AGI studio and SCI studio to rip characters and backgrounds from the original game files. They have resources as well.
Finding the old Sierra games isn't that hard if you know where to look. I can't give you any links since moderators don't like warez links here. I can give you a site to Sierra demo files, which can also be used with the AGI/SCI studios.

I used AGI sprites, and I know that paint overs are easy but drawing and animating something new is a pain in the brown eye. The pixels feel like the size of cardboard boxes.

It would be great to see Christopher Walken kick butt in 16 color mode.
