Hints & Tips / sync::routine

Nice game, I'm not finding it very hard, however I got stuck with the password.
Spoiler

I have the note from Miller's jacket, and his username, but I can't figure out the password. Although I assume the underlined letters have to be entered as numbers, I don't see the relationship with the two four-letter words hint on the wall.

Leon, thanks for the detailed reply. It helped me find out I'd missed using Quimby on something important. Finished the game, very cool :)

Hints & Tips / The Astonishing Captain Skull

What a nice game! I find the puzzles are a bit contrived, though. Currently I'm stuck here:
Spoiler

I need to figure out the section number in the archives so the captain will go fetch the ghost file. I've tried talking to everybody and showing them the file notes, to no avail. I presume it has something to do with Compu-Tor, but I cannot figure out how to use it.

Spoiler

How do you make the soapy water? I have the dish soap and two sponges, but I can't find a way to mix them. I've tried playing with the pump and pump's base, to no avail.

Thanks Jamol. I had tried that before, many many times. Somehow it worked the first time after reloading the game... go figure.

Another mood-lifting game by thecatamites!

I'm stuck at 8 kittens out of 10.
Spoiler

How do I catch the gerbil? I have the crowbar and the sack (with grain?). I assume I need the gerbil to get the kitten in the "perpetual motion" machine and that's all that's apparently left.

Thanks!

Just wanted to leave (leaf) a big shout out to jkohen coz his invite he gave me for "t3h wave" is awesome. Not that anybody's around to see it. :=

I expect you got some invitations as well, but if not, feel free to ask me for a couple more invitations for your friends/colleagues/etc.

Cheers,

I just got quite a few invitations to Wave. If anyone still wants some, send me a PM with your Google account address.

Edit: I just read back on the thread and noticed that lemmy101 also got a lot and is giving them away. Sorry for the noise :)

By the way, was it understandable what did Ham realize, I wonder?

Not for me, I'm afraid... not that I can't come up with a few ideas of my own. Call it open-ended :-)

Hi, nice game. Cute graphics, though some object interaction are a bit obscure due to lack of hints.

I just wanted to mention that I found a major bug that sort of threw me off towards the beginning of the game:
Spoiler

First thing I did in the game was walk right, get the orange balloon and interact with the keyboard. And lo and behold, all of a sudden I had both keys and the keyboard was unlocked.

I was very confused later when I finally got the key from the cistern and it wasn't added to my inventory, until I realized what was going on.

It's quite hidden... ;-)

Spoiler
Go back to 3rd floor’s main corridor and use silver necklace on the mirror to open one of Sophie’s secret hiding places, Room Where She Was Eating. Grab a can of BEER from the fridge on the left and leave.
[close]

Finished the game, thanks!

Spoiler

I would have never guessed that I should have used the necklace on the mirror.

Was there any hint that this had to be done?

You need a little help from someone else...
Spoiler
Visit  the Room Where She Was Rejected. Talk to Mr Harris. Offer Mr Harris a beer.

Spoiler

I could never find the beer. I'll look again, but please tell me where to look.

Thanks,

Hi, I'm stuck in the same place as the OP, only that I already followed the advice on the...
Spoiler

gas valve. I've opened the gas in the room where she died, but I cannot do anything with it. I assumed I had to lite it, but I have no fire.

I've only killed the little Sophie. I assume the sequence where I get the crowbar happens after I kill the next Sophie, but I'm at a loss here. I've been everywhere in the game a few times to no avail.

Thanks!

* Added option to automatically add side borders when running 4:3 games on widescreen monitors

Hi Chris,

Have you tested this on a properly set-up widescreen monitor? I can play 4:3 games on my widescreen monitors without any funny stretching, and it would be a pity if that no longer were the case because of a new feature. Any decent set of drivers and monitor allows to set up stretch-to-fit so it doesn't change the ratio.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I cannot find a way to search within a thread.

I'm stuck trying to get across the pit... any hints?

Hint 1:
Spoiler

Go to the last place you'd want to go...
[close]

Hint 2:
Spoiler

It's back to the start for you. Oh, and don't be lazy, you need to visit a few friends while you're there.
[close]

Hint 3:
Spoiler

You need something metallic to use as a bridge. Remember the iron bar you're carrying with you came from something larger? For some reason you didn't want to take it back then, but now you'll be happy to.
[close]

Solution:
Spoiler

Go back to your cell. Use your power on the grate. Then visit the other three cells, rinse and repeat. I'm sure you'll figure it out from here.

Think about your special abilities, and then think about where you need to get to leave this area (the door Mike went out through).

Solution:
Spoiler
Walk down the incline until you get to the bottom of the little hill, in the shadows to the right of the platform.  Use your Powers icon on the plate to get it to settle on the ground and turn into an elevator.  If it says you aren't close enough, keep moving left a little bit at a time until you can do it.  Once the metal plate is laid down, use your powers on it to levitate up like an elevator.
[close]

Hope it helps, and hope you like my game!

Thanks, this one helped.

Spoiler

I somewhat expected this to be the solution, and I had already tried many places, but I couldn't find the right spot. Even after reading your instructions I had to try a couple times. Maybe it could be a bit more lenient?
[close]

Thanks for the game!

I just started and I'm already stuck :-(

Spoiler

I'm just outside the cell, with a metal thing floating above my head. I tried everything with everything I could find, to no avail.

I have no idea what to do.

The you probably didn't follow it correctly. The walkthrough also says before that:

Spoiler
Use the magnet on the guard to search for lead items. Use the magnet on the ground in front of  him  to discover a hidden passage.

Well, I did say I felt silly :-)

Hints & Tips / Biggles on Mars

I got stuck near the beginning. I feel a bit silly, because I looked up in a walkthrough the next step to follow, but it doesn't help.

Spoiler

I stole the shoehorn, but then I didn't know what to do with it. The walkthrough says "leave the shop and use the shoehorn on the trapdoor on the right to go underground," but I don't see any trapdoors, or any other thing that could resemble a trapdoor, or anything at all I could use the shoehorn with.

Is there any trick so solving the Maze of Fertility?
I done it but it was pure randomness, I never actually 'solved' it.

There is a trick, and it's rather simple. That being said, I didn't get it entirely until Le Woltaire explained it to me :-)

Don't look at this hint.

Spoiler
I warned you... don't look.

Spoiler
Activating a pedestal affects all the pedestals around it. Only that with a twist: it only affects the pedestals on the floor of the same color than the pedestal you activated.
